Kapil

All said and done , we need to respect kapil. he had absolutely no role models, no great fast bowling coaches in india, there were no fast bowling culture, he was self made..he came is as fresh breathe of air.. even today kirmani and others, used to cherish , the ball whistling past the batsmen, slip cordon watching in awe.. especially whemn india was always at the receiving end...Taking the attack to the opposition, when our cricketer where week and timid.. leading india to wcup glory..If today we have the srinaths , zaheer , sharmas..it also because of the path laid by kapil.. an entire generation including the Tendulkars , dravids grew up watching kapil , cricketers today travel in the path laid by him..

when he can be dropped. so can SRT

Ramesh Kapil was a great cricketer, thats why he was awarded Indian Cricketer of the Century ahead of Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar but he was not a Fast bowler at best he was medium Fast Swing bowler.

Dont give more sympathy to sachin, admit that he is not fit to the current scenario of the cricket as the young player are coming you & he should think to give better chance to the younger generation that attitude makes a great cricketer not this attitude. i too a great fan of sachin tendulkar.

India is shining

Vegsarkar sahab what sachin did in 1st 78 one day international. his 1st century came in 79th inning when he got chance to open the inning...till then his higest score was 81 against zimbabwe ...and u was also in same team..but nobody raise their voice...so dont judge wrongly about youngster. give fair chance to them to improve their confident only..because they r already talented in terms of technique..but need confident..instead of hanging around tedulkars shoe, try to moralize and belief on youngster...sachin has already played 22 years...and we thanks for him..so move on....

Sachin has to decide when to retire from ODIs...
by Ravi Iyer on Feb 24, 2012 10:19 AM  | Hide replies

...and hopefully he decides sooner than later, as he's losing lot of respect from even his die-hard fans. So many friends of mine, who would fall for a Sachin innings, have now started to say that he's prolonging his career for records (unwanted for a player of his stature).
Two reasons why people think so:
1] He never played any ODIs since WC 2011
2] Now suddenly he wants to play - after having missed a 100 in 11 tests since WC. So, it's a desperate attempt to reach that milestone.

Kapil

Contrary to popular belief kapil was not all that bad in last 2 years.. picked up 25 wkts in australia.. Fine allround performance against pakistan in wcup 35 of 26 balls and two crucial wkts

42 of 29 balls against SA , 33/ 16 balls against NZL.. those days only kapil and richards were capable of scoring at more than run a ball.

Averaged 40 with bat against SA in test series, Avergaed 50 with bat and 25 with ball against England , played reasonably well against SL, Allround performance in hero cup finals.. etc

Absolutely right, Mr. Ramesh Bharat! He was always contributing either with bat or ball or sometimes both. I still remember his Nataraja shot for six off Donald. He had slowed down his pace in bowling but his accuracy was pin-point. He was taking crucial wickets at the top / middle order. Prabhakar used to take tailenders' wkts with yorkers at the death but Kapil was the man to take batsmen's wkts. After he took 25 wkts in 5 tests v Aus, India played the WC where he contributed with bat and ball but India had a poor run because of not being able to finish matches (losing by 9 runs to Eng and 1 run to Aus - rain rule also played a role here).
When India went to SA in the next series, Kapil scored 129 in the last test, which saved India from a certain innings defeat (India was 31/6 at one stage). It was regarded as one of the best knocks at that time.
Then India played lot of tests at home and in SL - (3 v Eng, 1 v Zim, 3 v SL in SL, 3 v SL in India, and finally one off test v NZ in NZ). In all the sub continent matches, we had Kumble, Raju and Chauhan bowling well and winning matches. Kapil would take a wkt or two at the top but then once spinners started the damage, Azhar would delay taking the new ball until even as late as 125 overs, as he was conident that spinners could finish the job. Obviously Kapil's average number of wkts fell to 2 per test (last 16 tests, he took 33 wkts). But he was contributing whenever the ball was given to him or he was required to bat.
