Kapil cannot speak about retirement
by Ravi House on Feb 22, 2012 12:12 PM  | Hide replies

feb 1992 - 431 test wkts

mar 1994 - 434 test wkts

This kapil dev had played for 2 complete years to take 33 wkts to beat richard hadlee's world record. Is it not playing for record and where does his theory of "individuals not greater than team" had gone by then? He has got no rights to talk about others retirements when he did not do that.

Good comment, ravi, kapil is an old jealous cat!Why Put undue Pressue on Legend Sachin who has Made Fans Happy for 20 years! Can any one explain why Sehwag is retained in the ODI team though his performance has been dismal and if ehwag was playing for australia or england or sout africa, he would have been kicked out long ago! Sachin has played so many wonderful innings earlier and made us win ODI matches too, but if his bad form continues, he should give way for younger promising young players too. Time for Dravid and Laxman to call it a day and BCCI must give a farewell tests to both Dravid and laxman and Sachin sooner or later before they degrade themselves in the cricket pitches in future matches. In the interest of nation and in interest of saving millions of work hours every year in a poor country like ours, TEST macthes MUST BE BANNED Forever and WE MUST refuse to play time-wasting poverty-producing TEST macthes in India as well as Abroad and WE MUST announce that ONLY One day matches and T20 matches WILL be played by us ONLY during week-ends or Holidays in future too, in interest of our poor nation whcih as wasted billions of work hours during the past 60 years and more as wished or desired by the british colonizers who imported this game to our country to make lazy&morrons forever and to make us poor forever too.

Sensible comments Mr Ting,
Eventhough I am not a big fan of Sachin, its not the way to treat him. Every Idiot is telling that Sachin is only not scoring as if others are scoring hundreds in this tour. Everybody is a failure in Australia, but why blame only Sachin. Dhonis captain cool Drama's are exposed, which is good for Indian cricket, since he will be soon kicked from the indian team.

"People" were calling for Kohli's head until he hit a century. Once it was done, the same people elevated him as "the next captain" and Rohit Sharma as "the next vice captain"...... This is not "Indian Idol" to keep listening to "people".

As some dude said on this forum yesterday, players & the board are so used to hearing BS from people that they have grown immune to it :)

Completely agree..Kapil dragged enough himself before retiring just to complete his milestone.Sachin is not dragging but is performing well compared to other junkies.RESPECT the master. He knows Cricket better than anyone on planet.

Sachin,Sehwag must be shown doors for good of indian cricket, gred

Actual difference between India and Srilanka is with respect to 2 batting slots. Its totally shameless that the Indian team is still persisting with Sachin and Sehwag. Playing with Sachin is just like playing with 10 people because everybody knows he will get out before scoring 25 runs. Sachin's stature build up mostly is due to the hype created by the media and some fanatic section of the public. Some people in this forum still boast that he scored well in some non-important matches and underline the importance of playing him again. Facts and statistics prove that he is never a match-winner or kind of tough player who can turn around fortunes in favour of India in tight situations. Even Dhoni has turned around things for India in tight situations. Its difficult to believe why India still has place in the cricket team for Sachin. If it was sensible cricketing board in any other country, they would have shown Sachin the exit door long way back. Even though he has played 5 world cups, he was never able to carry India to victory whenever there was an emergency need for someone to chip in and turn things around. Then some people in this forum will bring up his performance in 2003 against Pakistan and in the final on the last CB series. Those performances are never match winning ones. When the chips are down and you have to score 7 or more runs an over - will you do it ? That is match winning. Hopefully Indian selectors soon dump him.

can you suggest replacement. just 12 match back talking of odis sachin scored 200 against SA. his 84 against pakistan was reason for our semi-final win. he scored 54 against aus in QF and in this series he score 48 while chasing and we won. Point is his faliure means Indian team is doomed. Thatsd what is happening. You want to replace him with whom - Rohit sharma, manoj tiwari. go plat gali cricket

All said and done, the question is, will just removing Sachin, bring India to No. 1 position. Will changing one person change the whole team. It is plain ridiculous. Cricket is a team game, and all have to perform. The so called youngsters have failed miserably. Sachin is going a lean phase, but just compare him in his young days to these new comers, they are not even a shadow. So, should be throw out a ageing tiger and rely on toothless youngsters? Sachin will surely retire. He cannot go on playing till eternity. But, he cannot be just removed with a reason for promoting youngster. First the youngsters have to prove match after match that they are worth the salt. When Sachin performed during his initial years in cricket, there was a confidence that this man should be continued for long and the old timers automatically retired. You can't just throw out a legend for some silly plan of grooming youngsters for a world cup which is 4 years away. Dhoni's silly excuse is laughable, and ridiculous at the same time. Youngsters should be the ones rotated and given chance in every alternate matches to prove their mettle, and not seniors who have already proven their worth. People say that let us lose now with youngsters, but we will build a strong team later. That's another big silly thought. If we keep on losing with youngsters, they wouldn't have the confidence and the whole team strategy will go for a toss. The team is best with mix of seniors and juniors.

Either you dont know abc of cricket else yu should be fan of useless Dhoni..He is an opening batsman n you cant expect him to close the matches for India. His job is to give starts and set a platform and the middle order has to finish the job....Still he has played so many match winnig innings like last CB Series both finals....Sharjha CUp against OZ....Where were you that time...milking cows is it...Dont just blabber here against Sachin...Talk sense...

Dear Rahul,

Sachin is not playing well nowadays which everyone will accept and sooner than later he would retire from odis. But talking about winning matches there is a wrong perception going around that only those who play the last 10 overs are match winners. Or match winning is nothing but scoring when 7 runs or more needed? In both the cases openers or top order batsman cannot do that. They neither can play after 40 overs nor score runs when 7 runs or more needed unless the target is 350 or more everytime.
Moreover, how come the closing stages or crucial stages of a match would come without the starting stages or consolidation phases? If that to happern then the match should start only after 40 over with 5 wkts in hand.
You put the same question in a reverse manner, why these players who play well in the crucial stages do not come and play from the begining and show the world that they can contribute more towards victory consistently. Can they do it? In fact it is foolish if anyone asks them to do it. Similarly, it is foolish if someone asks top order player to finish matches regularly.
In fact sachin recently played a knock against aus 175 where we chased 350. Almost single handedly he won it for india. It was a pretty easy win from where he had left with just 18 runs needed of 18 balls with 3 wkts and with ravindra jadeja playing. The match was lost. Is it his fault? If some other player had played that innings you would call it as match winning one.

Either there would have been support or follow up innings for other players who had played a similar knock as sachin's 175 against aussies which would have helped them to win those matches or though the matches were lost their knocks would have been called as match winning ones. The only difference is you people do not like sachin and would never accept his performances. Had he not taken the indian team single handedly to the world cup finals in 2003? Would anybody deny that fact? Had any player in the world past or present done that? He got 3 mom awards against arch rival pakistan in world cup matches alone. Were those not great performances under pressure? Is there any bigger match than those against pakistan in world cups?

Paaji Kapil has memory problem ?
by debrispatel on Feb 22, 2012 07:01 AM  | Hide replies

Paaji Kapil has forgotten following facts

1. A whole generating of cricket fans never saw Paaji repeat the 1983 world cup magic at all for next 7-8 years...it was like anticipation gone in vain..Paaji milked his world cup success the longest..

2. Paaji sure forgot how he stayed on to achieve a record. Thanks to the BCCI, Paaji was allowed to play & thanks to some indian umpires, who awarded one LBW at a time, to help Paaji get his record.

Now he talks about retirement for Sachin, it reeks of hypocrisy !

Rather than attack the person, pl see if what he is taking about makes sense. He was wrong in not letting go and ended up being forced to go. If that was right, then what he is saying to sachin should also makes sense. Just bcz he made that mistake does not mean he cannot advice someone years later not to repeat that mistake.

Leave Kapil's story aside. If u r a criminal and advise people not to do such activities, will anyone give importance to what u say?
Similarly, if a Sunil Gavaskar or such person (who retired voluntarily before being kicked out) told this, it would have made sense.

And most importantly, Indian public has made cricketers to be immune to criticism & praise :)

The big 3 should be fired as they are not going to quit on their own. See every thing is money the days. The production of the big 3 is poor so why pay them and keep them as a liability in the team. Thanks big 3 for serving the country (yourself) for so many years. Time to hang your boots.

Sehwag should be thrown out of the team....He performs in one match and doesn't perform in other 20 matches.India should opt for a consistent player than him...feels its time for sachin to retire or play selective matches.....
