About Sachins calendar age anything can be said ..
by jaggu on Feb 21, 2012 04:21 PM

.. but make no mistakes , he will be playing the next world cup. His bad form is also often much better than good form of most players across world and his position in the side is not to be doubted.

BCCI being commercially driven will retain Sachin long after he is out of form for their gate collections.

Sachin Wasting His & Others Time
by Bigtribe on Feb 21, 2012 01:19 PM  | Hide replies

Playing XI and unable to make runs like before...

Looks time has come to say goodbye.

Sachin is very selfish in money mindedness. Build house with 30 plus crore and people around in the city living in slums... As celebrity he can do something, but this guy has no intention, but only to make money for himself...

endulkar still has another 2-3 years left in him. The rotation policy and media hype is putting pressure on him. Better to drop Raina, Jadeja then Tendulkar. Let us not forget that he is batting better than Sewhag, Raina, Jadeja, Sharma and several others who are simply not learning from their mistakes. Those players are only IPL performers and not INTERNATIONAL performers!

Dont mix issues. Sachin as the player hanging on eventhough it is about time he quits. That is the issue. What he does with his money is his business.

There are other billioners in India too. If donates or not that his will. And how do we know that he is not helping people in need? Few years back he has backed one of his childhood friend with expensive surgery in Ahmedabad. There are lot of people who donate but do not publicize their donations. He is still better then lot of others on the team like Viru.

by arvind sharma on Feb 21, 2012 10:38 AM  | Hide replies

those who r preaching abt sachin's retirement should first look at their own record. wat abt u kapil?

no one has forgotten how u carried on in last 2-3 years of ur career to get 434 test wickets. u had lost pace and were totally ineffective.

so do u have right to question others?

His contribution to Indian cricket is more compared to others. He played for country - not like others who play for records like Sunny , Sachin...

what success rate when you make dead pitches resulting in dull draws! He had good success leading India in England in 1986 winning 2 out of 3 tests and almost winning the 3rd. He led India to a WC win. He was a player who always delivered with bat or ball when the chips were down. So do not question his credentials.
He was still effective until end of India's tour to Australia in 1992. He had picked 25 wickets in 5 tests and had moved to 401 wickets. He was a very good batsman and fielder, mind you. And he used to bowl on Indian pitches for half his career where spinners thrived. In fact, in mid-80s Indian pitches would only produce dull draws. So naturally you couldn't expect many wickets from any of the bowlers. Agreed that he had dragged his career at the end but he was only playing a support role on home pitches where Kumble, Raju and Chauhan would do the bowling and wicket taking.I remember that Azhar would take the new ball only after 120-130 overs in 1993 and 1994! Obviously he had faith on his spinners in spinning tracks.

Yes he did and was thrown out. If that was correct, then what he says is correct too. You cannot point to his mistake and say sachin can repeat the same. There is something called Indian cricket which suffers in this business.

Mr. Kapil dev, it is pure jealousy and another way of publicity. If you say, sachin, shewag, raina, rohit’s time in ODIs is up then it makes sense. But you named only sachin.

Did'nt have the guts to say this to Sourav Ganguli
by NAGRAJ KV on Feb 21, 2012 09:57 AM  | Hide replies

Kapil says this to Sachin because he knows that Sachin will not hit back. Some time back when Sourav Ganguli was clinging on to Indian team without performance the same Kapil when asked for his comment had said " That is his (ganguli's) call' He was afraid of backlash from Ganguli and Kolkatta fans.(Shiv sena!! are you hearing?)
The same Kapil had to be 'eased' out of Indian team. He did not retire on his own.
Compared to Kapil and Ganguli at the end of their career Sachin has game left in him and capacity to score again. Just because player is aging and to give an youngster a chance we need not ask sachin to retire . May be some 'resting' would help.

Right Nagaraj.. I still remember Kapil performing very mediocrely in the fag innings of his career. He was almost persuaded by the selection committee to retire gracefully than to be unceremoniously dumped. he was a great player but unfortunately this is the truth.

Anil kumble also had very good game- he could have played for another 10 tests. he was forced to retire. Sachin should also be asked to go - spoiling youngsters future.

come on, don't give us that comment. Are you allowing youngsters to play consistently in one position or in the XI? No! One day, Gambhir will open and score 92, next match he will be back to no. 3. How can you expect him to keep making these adjustments match after match? Same with Sharma, you do not want to keep him for 5 matches. Whereas he has been the best Indian batsman since WC. What happened to poor Manoj Tiwary? He loses his place to accomodate Sachin.

There can hardly be any doubt about what you have said about Sachin, but did you know in your time when to quit?
As far as I can remember, you overplayed for about a decade. Your effectiveness as a bowler was clearly halved after your knee-surgery in 1983, and yet you played until 1993!
