Best batting line up
by Sebastian Cherukanam on Feb 19, 2012 09:25 AM  | Hide replies

India had the best batting line up against Australia in the last match. Gambhir, Sehwag, Virat Knohli, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma and the great finisher Dhoni. It was the best ever batting line up in ODI and India won that match. Then the Sachin pleasers replaced Sehwag with him and the result, India couldn't play well even against Sri Lanka.

What is wrong with Indian selectors, commentators, media and fans? I agree this pleasing mentality, worship and sycophancy is there in Indians' blood but still there must have a limit to it.

India must keep the same batting line up for the rest of the matches so that India can win this cup and that way somehow bring back the lost confidence and glory that was missing in the Indian team since last World Cup.

The World cup winning innings by Dhoni is one of the best innings and it is the best as it was played by a finisher and I see only one innings that can be rated above that and that was the century by Arvind D'Silva in the world cup final against Australia.
I agree technically Sachin is the best but that is only one quality out of many required in a player. Technically Dhoni is way behind Sachin but he is way ahead in areas like pressure handling, playing according to the situation, taking bold decisions (coming ahead in the world cup final was a classic display of taking responsibility and leading from the front), filling confidence in others (Sachin’s presence in the team in fact put more pressure on other players especially before players like Dhoni and Yuvraj’s arrival in the Indian team.)
Every one is talking about the runs scored by Sachin. I say his total runs would have been well below Dhoni if he had played at the 6th position in the batting line up.

You have said only about 49 successful chases... how about the countless matches we lost when he was also part of the game...

How many matches india played (with MSD in the team) and on how many occasions we chased ? Rediff has taken only 49 successful chases...but has not said anything about countless matches we lost, even chasing with MSD in the team. this nothing but misleading

boss, the stats are so strong that you have to believe them. anyone with strong stats impressive than the best in the business (bevan, hussey) to go with the results. It is said that the stats often mislead but often not always !!!

Sorry! I do not agree...

As someone has put up somewhere in a blog, Mr. MSD would have dragged even this match (SL Vs Aus) until 50th over had it happened Vs India to prove he's the best finisher. How else can one justify his running out Gambhir who looked good for a century and making a mess of such an easy equation like making 59 runs of 58 balls with good amount of back up yet available. He was content remaining not out for the sake of bettering his batting average and expecting poor tail enders to accomplish the task and perish in the process. Utter selfishness to the core... Mr. Dhoni is better advised to realise, cricket is a team game and is not an individual show off event.

I saw lot of comments against Sachin. Now a days it became fasion. Have we ever questioned Why Bradmen is best batsmen in the world? We accept it without questioning.Because he is not an Indian. But when it comes to Sachin we have so many issues. Pointing ,Kallis.. some people are even comparing Amla and Cook ( has to be the Joke of the year)..People say if any one play for 20 years .. they will do the same. The key is playing 20years consistenly. No other could do that. I doubt if anyone ever could repeat. Respect the legend and move on.You might not like im but don't degrade him. After all he is an Indian

Ha Ha Ha Haaaa... Hats off to pandey for the joke of the year.
if you don't watch cricket at least check the news paper. this so called finisher is finisher for Indian cricket. He is living on the effort of other players. He did not play well for long time. he opts to be coming down the ranks to have a not out score with very low strike rate and even throw matches. he never play inform batsmen and bowlers. He is not thinking for INDIAN CRICKET now.
