Dhoni as a batsman
Test Avg over all 37.0, Test avg overseas 28.0, No overseas century or match winning inning in test carrer even after playing 61 test.
T-20 intnl avg- 25, Strike rate- 105, No fifty or match winning inning in entirer career even after playing 27 matches
ODI- Good avg manipulated due to no. of not out innings & manipulative batting position. Even in ODI most runs scored on flat indian wicket against team like Pak/SLK & no overseas century.
As a wicketkeeper- Dropped catches in almost every match.

Dhoni test average outside
In WI 2006, 24
In SA 2006, 26
In AUS 2007, 17.62
In SA 2011, 35.8 ( one inning of 90 when styen/morkel was kept out of attack for 2-3 hrs)
In WI 2011- 19.5
( score of 0,16,2, 5 & 74(only one good inning when WI was operating with bowlers like bishoo/chandrapaul & front line bowler rampaul/shammi etc was resting due to injury).
In Eng 2011- 30.0
In Aus 2012- 20.0
As a captain good record only on indian pitches. Overseas he has lost more test matches(09) than what he won(05)

Dhoni is best
That’s why doing rest.
hehehe

it is not easy to get centuries at number 6..but it is extremely important to be a good finisher at number 6...that's what dhoni does...yes all the stats are true..still dhoni is important..accept it.

In 200 matches, Dhoni was unbeaten 50 times.

Can anyone kindly give statistics for Tendulkar, I mean in how many matches he scored well, India registered victory in ODIs (it does not matter if was not the finisher in the match)? Only genuine statistical figures please.

whats great in being not out.
In ODI if u bat at no.7 & selfishly bat like dhoni- alwayas u acn be not out. Just to boost his avg. In test his avg is very poort, T-20 his strike rate very poor as he can't be not out there & do manipulation like ODI
How u suppose opener to be not out. Its strange

Please read my question again and answer if you know the statistics. I could not care whether Tendulkar was out or not out.

Thanks

I am not sure if you can draw conclusions based on what you have asked. Unless Tendulkar bats out 50 overs - automatically scores well - Indian wins.
Not sure if there is a single match he has batted for 50 overs without getting out.

Also EVEN if Sachin bats well and there are middle order collapses, team INDIA will LOSE.
We need atleast 3-4 batsmen and 2-3 bowlers to fire and fire well, in a game for the team to win.
If you look at the Aussie team during the past few years they consistently had 6-7 players firing on all cylinders besides being the best fielders.

So to apportion blame on Tendulkar solely for India losing is not correct.
You need good bowlers, fielders and batting partnerships to deliver results.

Best team/best batting order
by Aravind sai on Feb 15, 2012 10:11 PM  | Hide replies

Ghambir
Sachin
Jadeja(Allrounder-Spinner)
Virat
Rohit
Dhoni
Ashwin(Bowling Allrounder-Spinner)
Irfan(Bowling Allrounder-Swing bowler)
Praveen(Right hand Swing/Clever Bowler)
Zaheer(Leftarm bowler)
Umesh(Right Arm fast bowler)

1)Lot of variation in bowling.
2)5 Specialist bowler and an allrounder.
3)If one of the bowlers has off day, other can be handy.
4)Batting depth is ok.But can't help it.to get one we have to sacrifice one.If india has perfect fast bowling allrounder, this problem would have been solved.
5)Above average feilding unit with many youngsters..
6)depending on situations following shd be brought
Boncy pitches..
Include rahul sharma for praveen
Flat pitches..
Sehwag and raina for sachin and praveen
swing pitches
same team
indian pitches:
Sehwag and raina for sachin and praveen
Fast bowling pitches:
Fastbowler who can bowl at 145-150(yet to find - can be Varun Aoron),Sehwag in place of irfan,Jadeja
Spin pitches:
Rahul sharma, sehwag in place of Umesh and praveen

Jadeja is not good finisher... he can steal singles well than hitting fours/sixers... so he shd b in as 3rd batsman...

He is best wicketkeeper batsman at present for india... I am talking about ODI team... If it comes to test team.. Still india need to find a better keeperbatsman than dhoni... Dinesh karthik is bits and peices player.. can't reply on this batting.. same with parthiv... need to see Wriddiman saha, naman ojha how well they can bat... I have doubt on naman ojha's wicketkeeping skills..

Dhoni crawled against Australia. Despite the six, his strike rate was poor.He failed completely against Sri lanka. Could not score 9 runs against Malinga. Took singles in last over when big hits were required. He did not even attempt a six on the last ball
