What nonsense? Till Dhoni arrived to bat yesterday, India had to score less than a run a ball and there were sufficient wickets in hand. But then after Dhoni arrived, the required run rate increased to over a run a ball.

Very well said. He is a master fixer of the game. Why did nt he atleast ensure a draw of any of the test matches? He simply was not capable of handling genuine pace of Siddle and Pattinson

siddle and pattinson playing for Srilanka? you both are extremely intelligent ppl about football but not creicket.. when a wicket falls, its not easy for incoming batsman to start scoring immediately plus if wickets keep falling at other end then it becomes more difficult.. Indian team got a good record just because of Dhoni.. and Sachin got good record just because of himself.. know the differnce.. Dhoni can very easily come up the order and score millions of runs but instead he is winning matches for India..

Dear Nandu,
Either watch the complete match of cricket to make a fanboy comment like this, Hebbar & Adin r absolutely correct. In Sundays match, we were well poised to win the match well within 48 overs, he kept giving fielding practice to all the australian fielders while the other bastmen felt the heat and kept falling on the other end in wake to score runs! but our captain cool or whatever he may be called.. just continued and let the run-rate climb from 4.38 to 9 and 13 in the last over. Same happened in the match against SL.
Dhoni creates the situation in a way that a match, that from winning position it becomes nearly impossible to win and then he would win it and become Hero.

When you become capable to understand, it will come to you. till then dont worry. Ever heard that run rate falls when wickets fall ?
Re: dhoni
by Varun on Feb 15, 2012 06:33 PM
Indeed like we always did in the past. COLLAPSE. What to say to guys like you. You expect the pace of an innings is the same all over. Ball behaves the same, wicket behaves the same and bowlers are to be hit. If ball becomes old, it still does the same right ?

you dont know cricket.. and probably are a sachin fan believing only in peronal records

Haha, Nandu. I am neither supporting Sachin nor Dhoni nor Sam Dizouza. But people like Sunil Vaidya & you have one thing in common. If anyone criticizes Dhoni, he should be a Sachin fan...... :)
itc clearly known after two series humiliation that dhoni is only technically fit for ODIs and not in tests. its time different selections needed for both the formats.

well, yusuf is a ruthless test match batsman..check in for a duleep trophy match against south when he scored a double while chasing 500 odd for victory..
Always happens with Indian media & crazy fans. Dhoni's finishing is highlighted, Gambhir's glorious innings is ignored. And the same persons speak about being "neutral".

contd.... And ourfoolish public debate and argue about who is best, who is worst! Comparing top order with middle order is ridiculous! Top order have the best chance to make good runs like Sachin/Sehwag. Middle/lower order like Dhoni/Yuvraj/Jadeja have the best chance of finishing matches. Expecting centuries from middle/lower order and match finishing by openers is simply ridiculous.

Very True..... But all of us here (including u) are jobless and come to Rediff for entertainment. We being Indians, know how to degrade players, call them names, etc. We are not meant to be sports-type......

dhoni is a geat player no doubt... but yesterday in the last 10 overs needing to score just 62 runs with so many wkts in hand was a very bad failure...thatb too between 40-45 overs they scored just 16 runs..
Not so long ago everyone was after his blood. What is this best or worst finisher?Do u say Sehwag/gambhir are best starters in the game? It is all by chance and one day cricket is more so.
Re: Best finisher...Dhoni
by Varun on Feb 15, 2012 06:35 PM
When that chance happens consistently, one has to stop and think why. Or be foolish to say it is only chance. He has got a method and pulls it off. Now whether it is the best or not is debatable but works for him and India so far.
Dhoni is a failure in tests, which is the real exam for a cricket player, and if he clicks because of some contribution at the top by some good players, the credit cannot go to him. See his record in tests and then praise him.
The fact is that Dhoni eats up overs and not deliveries and builds up the pressure on the players that follow him after he gets out and thus leading to loss of the games. India lost many a games from the point of winning because of timid and slow batting by Dhoni. So he is a worse finisher of the game.

Dhoni and Sehwag are not having techniques required for Test Matches. By sheer luck Sehwag was able to carry this far in tests.Same is the case of Dhoni. He is mere Slogger. Some how he is able to manage in test. Test match is for those who have good technique. In one day he is one of the great finishers. No body can deny that.

With same number of matches....Sehwag Averages the same as of Dravid....!
Also, Sehwag scored centuries in each country till date....including Australia...South Africa....England and Newzealand...! Great News had he possess the technique ... he could have broken the records of bradman also...!

Sunil kumar,so u r saying that Sachin has no technique either as he is also flop in Eng and Aus?

u have forgotten only because of dhoni we could beat aussis in a series in India...

Brother, you and me also work for money, not for charity :) Playing for money is not wrong as long as it is legal.
IPL is affecting the technique of test matches played overseas. In any case, BCCI will take care that India dont play overseas tests more than 1 series in an year. IPL gives Srinivasan big revenue. So, nothing will change :(
