Sunny is right this time!!
by jaguar on Feb 09, 2012 11:19 AM

I know, may of you don't like him but if you think sensibly you would realize that Sunny Leone (oops, I meant Gavaskar) is right. You need to play with the best combination when the team is struggling.. rotation is not a good option for the Indian team now.. People still crib abt Tendulkar's age and form but the simple fact is he ends of getting most of the runs, most of the time. If you think that Raina, Rohit and Kohli are over-night replacements then you're kidding yourself.. A mixture of youth and experience is required in this tri-series.. Else, you would see our young guns jumping like clowns on a fast pitch (like Dhoni & Raina).. so,don't vent ur anger at SRT's form, rather think rationally.

For all sachin bashers
by Ravi House on Feb 09, 2012 11:16 AM  | Hide replies

Those who are all crying for sachin's head read the following fully. What is the parameter to be in the indian team? Some people say it is performance, some say it is age. If performance is the parameter then one has to accept that sachin had not performed as bad as other players. The best performer who is an youngster virat kohli has scored just 10 runs more than sachin in the test series. Then everybody is telling after playing 22 years he is scoring only 40 runs. How many runs one could score if he had played for 22 years? 100 in every innings? It is not practically possible. Sachin's so called failure is the so called success for youngsters (e.g. kohli)which speaks volumes about sachin's ability. Nothing will change for team's fortunes if somebody plays in place of sachin. Sachin surely is not playing for records. He would not retire immediately even if he scores 100th hundred and why should he retire? If performance is the parameter then drop those who have not faired including sehwag, dhoni. Had they changed the fortunes of the team or would have they changed if sachin had not played? Hence, stop this non sense and try to enjoy his batting or do not watch. No body bothers if you people are not watching. There is this stupid logic which is doing rounds that some people want our country to do well but not our country man if he is sachin. Very much stupid!
Even aussies have been persisting with ponting and hussey both of whom have been failures till this series.

wins for the country. Did you know, Sachin in his entire career of 22 years has been mom only once in atest match for a win outside subcontinent that was against nz in dunedin 2008 test. he is just a hundred hitter. Team wins are not something he has contributed to. that is fact, figures stats for you

Mr. Expert, why don't you give an example of an Indian batsmen other than Tendulkar who has actually won a test match single handedly by himself outside the subcontinent?

Dear Krish,

For that matter a batsman cannot win test matches. Only bowlers can win test matches if they take 20 wickets. How many times our bowlers had taken 20 wickets for less than 400 runs in total for that 20 wickets. Then how can the team win.

First learn what test cricket is all about. Then speak stats my dear krish.

Krishna, let me tell u an example. Without Dravid's support from the other end do u think Laxman could have scored 281 in Kolkatta?
Similarly, when Sachin or any other player scored a century and lost is it their fault?
U say he is a hundred hitter..... With a hundred, he did his part. And u say team wins are not something he has contributed to. Do u think that in his 33 match winning hundreds, only he performed?
Win or loss is a team effort. Remember, it took Gambhir & Dhoni's big contribution to get the WC. But dont forget Kohli's & Yuvraj's contribution. Hope u understand.

what you are saying is right, but all i am stating is what is there in history books sachin has only 1 man of the match award for a win outside subcontinent where as Dravid has 6. He might have also done a lot, but all i can remember is him giving it away in the end

Let us accept that India has won very less no of matches outside the subcontinent. And MOM is not the only factor to analyze a player's caliber. Zaheer Khan has very less MOMs. Does it make him a person who has contributed less to India. NO! Similarly, identify the individual contributions, credit the team performances.

Your punter (ricky ponting) did not score against SA, NEWZEALAND, ENGLAND where aus lost heavily. Is this scoring when team needs? He has just scored against weak indian attack and that too in australia.

Punter has 22 hundreds that too in his backyard. But when it comes to analyzing ANY Indian batsmen, our people become critical.

all we are saying is dropping, resting a person who is senior and giving some youngsters an extended run is not a bad thing. It is to build the team's future. Sachin has been a great batsman, but his time is up now. Cant you not see that Sachin is not in his best ? Had you seen people getting him bowled a few years back ? Bowlers like Donald used to fear him, nowadays Siddle calls him just another batsmen,Shae warne used to fear him. Lyon, ajmal make a fool out of him. Its the age factor, please accept it. The quicker the fans will accept, the quicker he will retire gracefully

Your 'Just another batsmen' has been one of the most consistent performers even after the world cup. If he doesn't score a ton, that doesn't mean he is not good enough or he should retire. If India has lost some matches its not because he didn't score a 100, its because other people also didn't perform. Selectors are not selecting him by opinion polls of fans. He has his place in the team on merit.

Surprise that nobody calls for the head of Punter (when he plays well). They have oldies as well. They also are planning for 2015 WC. Dont u think they are more serious than BCCI to win the WC?
And let Sachin retire, I or any normal fan (i dont refer to a crazy fan), have no problem. But to retire is a decision which HE has to take and not we force on him.

Gavaskar's advice to Sachin
by Jayant Dhruv on Feb 09, 2012 11:16 AM

Is it not hightime Mr.Gavaskar, to advice Sachin to retire gracefully rather then asking him to play continuously? Or like every one else you too want him to complete his 100 Centuries, come what may or even he has to continue to play till he reaches his 100th birthday to complete that coveted 100?

Sachin should retire and make way for youngsters
by Anil Srinivas on Feb 09, 2012 11:14 AM  | Hide replies

Why blame only Rahul Dravid & VVS Laxman? What is Sachin's contribution in the on-going cricket series in Australia? What has he done which stands out? Infact through out the test series his batting has been very poor. Why don't media and cricket experts talk about Sachin's lack of form and his retirement?

I'll put forward your name for the Indian team selector post next. Could you describe your cricket credentials please. That way I don't have to put 'book cricket' under the experience column in your resume.

Biased Gavaskar
by agnostic on Feb 09, 2012 11:04 AM

No doubt Tendulkar is a great batsman and the whole world acknowledges. It is generally observed that he is extremely biased towards tendulkar. When tendulkar drops a simple catch, he explains why it was a very difficult chance and if he takes a simple catch, gavaskar describes it a very difficult one. His comments are equally opposite in case of other fielders. It is a different matter that some players including gavaskar played only for records but not for the team and country. They have never bothered to check how many of their records have helped the team win and how many times in pursuit of records the team has lost. It is certainly a pathetic suggestion by Gavaskar to rest Raina or Sharma, it is time that he rests from comments....
