Good team, but if we lose the series then will fans be ok or ask for their heads too?? Lets be realistic and support the team thru the transition period where Dravid, Laxman are retired, Zaheer is lackluster.

Transition period is applicable in the case of failure of Pujara. How can you consider MSD/SRT/Sehwag/Zaheer, etc? If all are affected by absence of Laxman/Dravid, it is better that they play with kids at home instead of calling them professionals.

It does affect to some extent as instead of going in to bat at 30/2, Sachin would have gone to bat at 150/2 is Dravid was there at one down. Same for MSD, if Laxman was there it is usually at 250/5 or 300/5 when he goes into bat as against being 100/5. Hence the need to players to be mentally prepared and a brief transition period is needed. Also, I think that with IPL foreign players have learnt to play in India much better as they are here every year for 2 months than the other way round. Maybe we should get Sehwag, MSD, Kohli to play in English County cricket or South African domestic cricket.

so you mean dhoni needs high scores from the top & middle order to show his batting skills? well, ashwin did that without the support of top & middle order.

Ashwin is becoming all "rounded" day to day. He now resembles a brinjal. Very soon, he will become a pumpkin....
And most of the time, either his nipples or deekandballs are projected in the clothing he wears....

Kohli

He may be a good basman, but I don't find any solid base behind offering him the captaincy. It will be too early. Rather at this situation Sehbag is the better option. He has the brain to lead a team and also to charge his players. So I will prefer Sehbag for our forthcoming leader of Indian Cricket.

But Gambhir is too mush cold. He has no aggression mentality to overcome the opponent.

Do you know Dhoni complained on his aggressive behavior?
He is a fighter and decently aggressive. He does this with delivering results. If you check records of T20 WC and last 50over WC including finals it was actually gambhir who was the differentiating factor primarily in tough matches.

Will replace him also?

Kohli will be a very bad captain as he will never be able to concentrate on his performance and responsibilities as he will spend all his time fantasizing about his South Africa-born, English lover Kevin Pietersen!

Fact of the matter !
by Rohit Maroli on Dec 18, 2012 05:19 PM  | Hide replies

India was always weak against quality spin. Why do people forget the lankan series where sachin , dravid, ganguly ,laxman, dhoni and co sucuumbed to ajantha mendis and murali, or the famous test in chennai where saqlain mustaq troubled indians as they couldnt get 17 runs with 5 wickets in hand, sachin getting foxed and caught.Warne never had a good partner and the only spinners sachin and co have smashed are gavin robertson from australia, stuart mc gill or phil tuffnel etc... and India apart from Anil Kumble has never produced great spinners..if harbhajan with a test average of 32 is great with an abroad average of 38..then god help us !! Raju,chauhan..all were pedestrian....so all the talk abt indian spin lossing its shine.. doesnt make sense....fact is till now we faced pedestrian spin in the name of spin and kumble used 2 bundle out the batsmen after number 5 ...today tat doesnt happen.see how swan and the tail have been wagging......tats the bottomline !!

Muralis figures look great cause he has taken bangladesh 89 wickets @ avg of 13.37 , zimbabwe 87 wickets @ avg of 16.86 ...do tes teams deserve test status ? against australia his average is 36 ...!! Vettori & Shakib Al Hasan with their averages arent test class bowlers..u ask anyone who knows abt cricket wat a bowling average of more than 31 means....Swann has hardly played against india yet he has better figures than ashwin and ojha...

You may have grown up watching IPL and that is obvious when you say apart from Anil Kumble has never produced great spinners. If you talk that way, people can understand about you. There is no need to argue. Apart from failure to Ajantha Mendis in one series Indian batting line up never failed against spin before last 2 years.

Im talking abt post 1990 , dnt talk abt bedi, pressana and chandra.... Anil kumble ws the only spinner ....Indians have always failed against saqlain at his peak....and murali too...before last two years ....can u name any spinner of world class...??? Mr Saurav u dnt need to argue.... indian batsmen are flat track bullies....cant play quality pace, swing or spin..... go back and check history and tours of southafrica & Australia and england....
