Disappointing
by Ramdas Nayak on Dec 19, 2012 10:54 AM  | Hide replies

It is just humiliating and disappointing to see photo of Englishmen celebrating series victory on our soil. Disgusting is the batting and bowling of our cricketers in the last three matches.

we have enough talent for two teams but selectors do not go and watch domestic cricket, like ranji, duleep etc. they only see the established cricketers who fail very often but still gets selected...very sorry state of affairs..

Send this article to the selectors

I am glad to see that we have such writers like Haresh pandya who are not afraid to call a spade a spade. the selectors must realise that these are the opinion of cricket fans in this country. the fans want the best 11 in form players to play for the country irrsepective of their reputaion/background/past records

Youngsters
by Ramdas Nayak on Dec 19, 2012 10:11 AM

Cheteshwar Poojara has proved how a talented youngster would perform if given a chance to play. He was ignored by the selectors for the likes of others who lack technique in batting such as Yuvraj, Raina etc. Now it is time to players who are aged, tired and with no motivation to play except to earn money such as Sachin, Dhoni, Sehwag etc. We need young limbs on the filed to fight for the nation and definitely notthe worn out, selfish having carefree attitude players.

Give Youngsters a chance
by sunilduth on Dec 19, 2012 10:02 AM

Many Indian bowlers have proved that if they apply themselves it is easier to score more runs on Indian pitches than pick up wickets,Ashwin being the latest.Pick batsmen who are young, fit, dedicated, with the right temperament and stick with them.If some bowlers can do it they can do it better.Don't go back to the old, tired war horses who are happy resting on their laurels. At least our bating problems will be solved. With the kind of domestic pitches,it is unlikely we will ever come up with quality bowlers. Those who start as bowlers in domestic cricket eventually finds it easier to become mediocre all rounders in home conditions.Make sporting wickets for players of class to emerge. This is the only way out.

Dhoni's Favourite List
by tapas biswas on Dec 19, 2012 09:52 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni spoiled the career of a few good cricketers already. Dhoni is reluctant to try new players. He doesnt have courage to try new player. For long we have seen, bowlers and batsmen being towed with the team just to carry water bottles. He is ready to get defeated by using out of form senior players rather than try new players. Like general Politicians Dhoni has a favorite list and he likes to go by that. In 4th Test, the pitch was more favorable for seamers due to uneven bounce. There was no turn on the pitch even on the 4th day and rarely any on the 5th day. Why did Dhoni not try another seamer? Anderson got 4 wickets. In 1st innings he let Ashwin and Jadeja keep bowling while they could not bag any wickets after bowling 33 overs each. Ojha bowled only 21 overs and got 4. Why wasnt Ojha tried earlier? In 2nd Test, 1st Innings Harbhajan was treated like 5th bowler and given only 21 overs that too when batsmen were set. Aswin despite not getting enough wickets was given 45 overs. All in all Dhoni does not care skill and talent but he cares his favourite list.

I agree. He is a captain with negative mind. He never experiments. Will not change team in spite of failures, never try part time bowlers to break long partnerships, never advises lower border batsmen how to play when they come out to bat. Even in one dayers he delays victory by dragging the inning till last over even facing the risk of losing the game which otherwise could have won easily. Let him be in the team but not as captain.

What is coach doing out there?
by Manav Sharma on Dec 19, 2012 09:50 AM  | Hide replies

All of us talk about out of form players and subtitutes. But no one has even once talked about Coach? What is he doing out there? A coach should have been a mental driving force and should be able to bring team together as a unit, but Indian team never looked as one unit. We lost in Australia, England and now at home too. So many months have gone by. It seems that team was only winning due to formar coach Garry Kirsten. Same players but different coach has made such a huge difference...!!!

Coach can take the horses to water but he can not make them drink if they refuse. Indian players are like horses and no coach can make them play if they are not willing to.

Indian Cricket
by srivarma shetty on Dec 19, 2012 09:46 AM

First of all we must understand that cricket is a sport & it has to be played with an eye on winning the match. It is not a platform to pamper ego & guard reputations.Men in form & ability to fight & win a particular match should play.
Like in other sports, players who are not fit for the match or out of form must be dropped without a fuss. Why only in Indian cricket, dropping an established player generates so much emotions even at the cost of losing the match?
