This happens only in India

When England lost their previous 3 test series there were no wholesale changes and no one was dropped. This happens only in India. Shame. We are like the proverbial rats who desert the ship when it starts sinking. This is the time to support Indian team.

Do you mean to say that Indian team lost because it was not supported by fans in the last three series? Ridiculous.

The root cause
by Yogesh Hasabnis on Dec 18, 2012 07:39 PM  | Hide replies

So many experts writing so many columns about the defeat. Every expert is giving many different reasons. But nobody is acknowledging that the team has become rudderless and a disoriented team. The reason for that is the not-so-inspiring leadership. Why don't they just accept that "okay, we made a huge mistake 7 years ago when we harassed and threw away Indian cricket's best leader - Sourav Ganguly. Let us bring him back, may be as a coach and a mentor." It's all very well to conclude that Team India failed due to the failure of X, Y or Z department. But why not recognize that the root cause of all those failures is that there was nobody to inspire the talented youngsters - there was nobody to have a calming effect on the team. The primary reason for Indian team's failure is something other than that has been discussed by the experts. The other reasons are just a by-product of the fact that Team India has deteriorated slowly but surely in the last few years (though it was not apparent) and now it is close to hitting the rock bottom.

Comparing one of India's better cricket leaders to the British ? Sad. Is Sourav a foreigner ?

where are the replacements?
by rajarshi banerjee on Dec 18, 2012 07:18 PM  | Hide replies

It is all very fine to ask for young blood and youngsters and revamp the whole team. My question is who is going to replace the old timers. Since Sourav retired in 2008, we are still to find a dependable no 6. Yuvraj and number of others have been given long enough ropes but who has been able to play at even 50% the potential of Dada? Same is the case with VVS and Rahul. Cheteshwar Pujara has just shown some glimpes and it is too early to say whether he will be able to fill in the no 3 position of Rahul Dravid. For VVS Laxman, there is nobody on the horizon, Kohli is just finding his feet in test cricket, it will take him quite sometime to cement his place and perform more consistently. One swallow does not make a summer, a single century in a 4 match series with remaining all less than 30 scores does not show potential as yet at Test cricket level.

Yes Tendulkar is old and should be done and dusted with, but who is going to replace him? We have seen the likes of Ashok Dinda and Ishant perform in IPL as well at international arena. Ashok Dinda's fitness is not that of a superman and Ishant Sharma has been pretty much one series wonder in Australia after which batsmen across the world have more or less sorted him out. So the BIG QUESTION that we need to ask is do we have the replacements in place who actually replace all our AGEING heros? IF YES, then drop the oldies by all means, if not then we need to introspect more.

Those who are asking question that who after tendu should remember that in the past question were being raised like who after Nehru or Lata mangeshkar. they should keep in mind that world don't stop for one or two persons.
