Then why Amarnath was upset when he was dropped at 37 for 25 year old Siddhu?.

He was India's best batsman at that time. His performance was not affected by age. Age based discrimination is not logical.

He was the one who played better in the Asia Cup (MoM in Final in a tricky track) and he played well in 2009 Sharjah & Nehru Cup. Those were the last matches. His batting against WI in Sharjah is still something which can help T20 players. He was dropped from Test matches after 87, but he made his comeback into one day teams thru domestic cricket and played well in ODIs.

amarnath bingo correct
by Sameer Shaikh on Dec 12, 2012 12:07 PM  | Hide replies

Speaking to Times Now, Amarnath revealed said that "certain internal reason" prevented the selection committee from replacing Dhoni as captain after eight successive Test defeats in England and Australia"

Bingo the internal reason he mentioned is Srinivasan who has personal reason for Dhoni captaincy since he is CSK captain. This is pure conflict of interest case... he is not suppose to be in BCCI according to governance rule. Remember the term internal is referred to Srinivasan

"In a roundabout manner, Amarnath also admitted that there were external pressures on the selection committee when the topic of Dhoni's removal was broached."

He mentioned external also and external pressure is advertisers and sponsorship of Dhoni who want Dhoni for commerical reason to captain and play

""In Indian politics and cricket, it's always the same. There are people who are controlling the game and other people are scared to take a stand," he told the television channel."

Bingo again means Rajeev Shukla, Pawar, Jaitely and personal businessmen who has personal interest is running BCCI like commerical organisation... Hats off to Amarnath for telling the truth and last he said the selfish man should mind his age at least and stop behaving like 20 year old kid

Who is he to ask Dhoni to step down??? Is he a cricket analyst ??? He is just a former cricketer and nothing more than that. During his playing days, he was dropped at the age of 37, for a 25-year old Navjot Sidhu and he was very upset. He is now preaching very different from what he has done. However, there are selectors & team management to decide whether Dhoni should continue as a captain or not
Amarnath is just getting free publicity by making sensational statements

Who told you he was dropped at 37? He was never taken when he was at his prime, for reasons every cricketer knows.

One can keep playing Dhoni for another 20 years thinking you will get different results! If BCCI is foolish enough to do that let them do it!

Is he better than the BCCI !!!
I guess he was sacked as a selector sometime back
so, he can now say whatever he feels like just because he was sacked unceremoniously does not give him the right to say Dhoni must be sacked. Let Dhoni's performance decide whether he remains in the team or not !!!
And I guess, u dont have an understanding of Maths. Only u can think Dhoni being captain till he is 50 years. Great thinking !!!

Effective Change !
by Ricky topping on Dec 12, 2012 12:05 PM

MIKE BREARLY of England and LEE GERMON of New Zealand played Test Cricket as Captains of their respective teams in their career(s) and wow! (during late seventies/early eighties) what a positive change they brought to their teams through a critical transition period and that was great history. They did it through sheer INSPIRATION, MOTIVATION and ASTUTE LEADERSHIP even when their personal cricketing contributions were less than average. That kind of Captaincy material is what is needed for the Indian team at this moment.

So BRING A DARK-HORSE WITH THE CAPABILITIES MENTIONED ABOVE and Indian Cricket will witness a real "DISRUPTIVE TRANSFORMATION."

This is the only recipe for redeeming our prestige/revival of Indian Test Cricket particularly when it finds itself at the cross-roads.

Can Srinivasan do amends for all the ills brought by T20 to the Test Cricket? Can the Selection Committee muster enough courage to resist commercialism and promote real talent ? Can the players abnegate the lucre of cash and embrace the glory of great performance(s)?

This is the Trillion dollar question now !

rana u are a medicore fool.
If you give credit for wcup win which is utter nonsense (his own contribution was nil as a batsman except for one fluke inning in final).
Why he shouldn't be blamed for failure.
In his captaincy India lost 3 consecutive T-20 wcups losing almost all super 8 matches. he was also a big flop with bat in T-20.
In test if he gets credit for taking India to no.1 (everyone know his contrbution was nil from bat & all win courtsey sachin-dravid-laxman-kumble-ganguly-zaheer)then why he alone shouldn't be blamed for now India ranked 4-5 in test & two conescutive whitewash overseas & two consecutive home test defeat which no other captain has suffered.
Why this double standard of giving credit to dhoni for every win & blame to other players on loss.
He has got so many undue credir for win- on same logic- he should be blemaed for every loss & kicked out from team imediately

by BCCI for seeking Dhoni's removal. In India you dont want good things to happen. Barring the world cup performance, hardly Dhoni has performed in the last 15 months. Saha, Karthik, Patel are much better than this overhyped guy. Jimmy is correct

Even in 2007 T-20 wcup win he was a big fialure with bat. Even in next 3 T-20 wcups where india lost almost all super 8 matches- He was big failure with bat.
Fact is whether win or loss- he was laways a failure with bat & never a worldclas batsman or keeper

After 2007 T-20 fluke win- India was out in 1st round in 3 consecutive wcup.
Same way India won 2011 wcup because of home condition & good form of sachin/zaheer/yuvi etc but for sure will loose in 1st round of next 3 wcups if politicain dhoni is captain.
For sure under any other captain india will do better if not winning the cup as biggest liability batsman dhono will be removed

If one wants stats, Dhoni's last 20 Tests he averages 29 as a batsman (includes matches in subcontinent) and 10 losses in last 13 Tests. Add to that there was no sign of him having done any analysis of the opposition or using any tactical moves in the Tests. He was just going thru motion when one wanted him to show the lead. It is time for a change. We have better wicketkeeper batsmen available for Tests. Captain should always be from a player who is selected. Remember Dhoni had no experience of leading any side when he was chosen to lead India!

Really who are better wicketkeepers than Dhoni in India ? You can see head to head matchups in the IPL and Dhoni's wicketkeeping record is the best.

If one is interested in cricket, see beyond IPL also. If you talk of wicket keeping alone, Technically Saha looks better. Dinesh Karthik is also a good replacement as a wicket keeper & batsman. They should first replace Dhoni with one of them and see what happens for 1-2 series. Then they will know.

kartik much better than dhoni as batsman who even scored runns on SA pitches.
Dhoni overseas avg is less than 25.
Dhoni 2nd inning avg in test is less than 25.
No overseas century or MOM for dhoni in test even after playing 72 test.
If kartik is given 72 test- he will much better batsman than dhoni.
He is surely better wktkeeper than dhoni

Its true that Karthik struggled as a batsman. However that was due to couple of factors, one was many away tours, and second was he was tried as an opener. At home, I feel Karthik plays spin bowling better and is a better keeper. Patel is probably a better batsman away from home, but not sure whether his keeping has improved. Saha is an unknown in the international arena, but can and should be tried.
