Amarnath and politics
by desi twist on Dec 12, 2012 12:59 PM  | Hide replies

To me Amarnath seems more likely than current or past selectors to indulge in regional politics. The thought of making Sehwag captain seems nothing else but that. Just my opinion though, I may be wrong.

this man is a crook who is playing politics with cricket...since he was kicked out of selection committee, now he is asking to remove dhoni...but why he is favouring Sehvag & Gambheer is obvious..delhi politics..and what about the performance of Sehvwg & gambheer in last two series ?? instead these players should be targetted...

Dhoni must improve his batting and captains tactics
by Rahul Ekbote on Dec 12, 2012 12:54 PM

yes Dhoni lost midas touch,as selctors like Amarnath forcing biggest batting liabilities, handicaps like Sachin, sehwag on him,so result is defeat, give Dhoni team required by him, without political or industralist presure to include Mumbai Indian players scahin ,sehwag or harbhajan or Zaheer etc,why Amarnath talk about Mumbai non performer?ZM7Ez

I don't understand what Amarnath is going on and on about?

Who is a better wicket keepr batsman than Dhoni? Parthiv patel, Wridhiman saha? Who?

Fact is Dhini is not doing well as captain, bt he IS the Best Wicketkeeper batsman you have in the country today.

The team is not doing well because

1.the batsmen are not putting enough runs n board. And is Dhoni India's frontline batsman? No! It is for Sachin, Sehwag, Gambhir, pujara, Yuvraj to get the runs. They have not done that.

Does Amarnath think Saha or parthiv patel will get more runs that Dhoni?

Saha, Dinesh Karthik or Parthiv Patel will do better in Tests. Dhoni is probably better in ODI or T20

Why didn't Amarnath comment on Sachin's retirement. He has definitely become a burden for India. He should be replaces by some good aggressive players. What has got Amarnath's tongue now?

Saha and Dinesh Karthik are likely replacements.? Even Parthiv can be considered on his batting. Why? People think those who are not backed by media and commercials, are not good.

Don't compare career stats. That is not how selection is made. You may do that comparison for your fun!

Last 1 year form or 2-year form is what matters most for selection. First class matches and not IPL are to be considered for selection.

jay players who play international cricket dont have much time and energy for playing domestic cricket...that happens everywhere...domestic matches are meant for domestic players who dont get a chance to play international level...once karthik or patel or saha get selected or when they were selected and in the team tell me how many domestic matches they played...as it is dhoni plays so much so where will he show what he did in domestic cricket for the last couple of yrs.

and what if i use your own dialogue dont compare career stats..why do you want to see how saha karthik or patel played in the last couple of yrs in domestic cricket? dont talk to me about stats forget the stats only...

quality is quality and whatever dhoni has shown is 7-8 yrs at international level is quality...and the chances that they got karthik and patel and they got enough chances to be judged or make a comparison with dhoni...they fell short in all departments....

please dont tell me there domestic stats in the last couple of yrs. (on local flat pitches and local ordinary bowlers)

Not at all. Karthik was playing well as a wicket keeper in Tests, and his batting had improved by the time he played his last full series. There was no real need to replace him. Only because Dhoni made good progress as a batsman in ODIs he could replace him in Tests, but that was not a bad move. It as plain common sense. But when Dhoni's performance has fallen they have to find replacement.

Why Dhoni alone?
by mohan ramakrishnan on Dec 12, 2012 12:48 PM

As long as Dhoni was winning matches (incl the fiarst test against Eng) as captain, all were very happy, incl Mohinder Amarnath. But today the entire team looks jilted, run-down and weak and people like Mohinder Amarnath are up in arms. My question is why only target Dhoni, pull up everyone who are not contributing, including Sehwag. Why special love for Sehwag from Amarnath. The entire team is responsible for bad performance. Collective success is important. One player can make good for a bad patch in another player. But here is a oft-repeated story where the entire team shamelessly perform. So, the answer lies somewhere else and not with Dhoni alone.

CAPTAIN
by GOVINDAN KEYPEE on Dec 12, 2012 12:47 PM

Dhoni got a team moulded by Ganguly. All of them were in the height of their profession. This confidence gave him the chance of winning several matches. When the team members failed Dhoni failed. Nothing more nothing less.Luck only luck showevered on him from heaven. Nothing else.

No doubt, if dhoni is not doing well, he should be dropped. Because Dhoni's contribution in winning matches and lost matches is zero.

Amarnath is a loser compared to Dhoni.
by R A on Dec 12, 2012 12:34 PM  | Hide replies

Amarnath for regional reasons wants to replace Dhoni with Sehwag. Sehwag as a captain can be compared with Dhoni in IPL in head to head match ups......Based on Sehwags captaincy so far - he would not be fit to even bring water to Dhoni who outshines him in every dept.

Agreed about Sehwag, but at the same time, Dhoni is proving himself to be unfit for the longer format.
Gambhir could have been considered, but is unsure of his own place, as is Kohli.
Given Kohli's performance in Australia, it may not be a bad idea to try and give him the captaincy. It is a huge risk but worth it.

After being kicked out of selection committee by BCCI, he is merely venting his frustration, and has lost his mental balance... Politics is better for Amarnath rather than cricket!
