Yes Laxman and Dravid were great, But we Must Ban Cricket Now!Who cares for Boring and Poverty-producing and useless TEST CRICKET and Long duration ranji&duleep trophy cricket, etc??? THIS GAME OF CRICKET WAS INTRODUCED BY CROOKED AND WICKED BRITISHERS LIKE MAKING AND MARKETING OF MAHATMA AND non-violence dirty trick to make all majority hindus mmorrns and ennuchs and cowards forever and the past 64 years shows that the crooked britishers were successful to make us a BANANA REPUBLIC of majority morrons with their dirty games, we must BAN Test Cricket forever and WE must shout that we will not allow Boring and Poverty-producing and useless TEST CRICKET to make us poorer any more. One day cricket or t20 or t30 cricket ONLY must be allowed and THEY MUST BE ALLOWED TO BE PLAYED ONLY ON WEEK-ENDS OR HOLIDAYS so that we do not lose millions of working hours of men and women and youth any more and we do not remain poor forever due to useless and time-wasting and Boring TEST Cricket too. All patrrioti c citizens and sponsors MUST BOYCOT TEST Cricket and ranji and dulepp trophy cricket FORVER if they love the nation and want the nation to be super power in next 20 or 25 years too!

Replacement for greats
by Santhosh Ayarpully on Aug 20, 2012 11:10 AM  | Hide replies

We do not need neither Laxman nor Dravid to be replaced by some one with the equivalent talent. But we definitely need to fill those slots with some young cricketer with the same dedication. We do not need any records to be broken but need to win matches for India. So in my opinion, please do not bother on the lost talents, and we are ok if any young player can fill the gap for a two to three year time and then it should be some others.

We have to change our habit of making stars and then play for them but whatever be the players, they should play whole heartedly for India.

For eg:- Now Virat Kohli is playing in good form but the spirit should be like if he is out of form, frop him and replace with another so that he should earn his slot later with his own talent and hard work. No place in Indian team should be taken for granted be it the captain or be the so called record breaking Sachin.

Miss Vibha
I think our losses to Eng/Aus were more due to bowling failures. For batsmen, it was just catch up job throughout the series. Even 11 SRTs would'nt have sufficed. Let's not be too harsh with these greats!

should play Rahane as an opener and play Gambhir at 5 or 6 to steady the middle order. Otherwise we do not have experience in the middle order.

lAXMAN'S RETIREMENT
by Narasimha on Aug 20, 2012 10:41 AM  | Hide replies

It is obvious from the developments took place for the past one week that in Bangalore VVS got the bad treatment from Dhoni & Co. Dhoni thinks himself as a great player and captain, at the same time he forgot to analyze the team which he is having to win the test matches, ondayers or 20-20s. So far as far as my knowledge is concerned Dhoni only got the best possible team to lead and all the players in general and VVS in particular helped him to achieve the NO.1 position for Tests. This present Dhoni and company can not survive in Indian Cricket for not more than 10 years, present team should understand that only technique helps to survive not the closed hitting. I am a great fan of great VVS. I salute him for his contribution to Indian cricket particularly in crucial time.

I Salute VVS for taking an excellent decision and for tamacha/thappar to Srikant & Co and BCCI. Same treatment was given to Ganguly, Kumble & Dravid. But on behalf of all, VVS replied at last. We r looking forward for Mahinder Amarnath who will be the next chairman. And we expect that Amarnath will not be the yes man of Srinabasan, Shukla..like Srikant & Co.

I think Rahul and Laxman r great players and difficult to substitute in test forms. I THOUGHT DHONI HIMSELF DID NOT WANNA PLAY TEST CRICKET.one needs a replacement for him too. Test matches without Dravid and Laxman is without the wall and pillars of indian team.

Kapil's comments
by m prasad on Aug 20, 2012 10:26 AM  | Hide replies

Kapil commented that VVS was supposed to retire along with Gnguly.
Poor Kapil was actually supposed to retire along with sunil Gavaskar. But continued with his poor performance in team for more than 5 years to reach a selfish goal at the cost of chances to J. Srinath.

Kapil Dev was highly over-rated player just because India won 1983WC under his captaincy. Fact is that he was just another medium-pace swing bowler who extended his career to break Sir Richard Hadlee's record of 431 Test wickets. Kapil Dev was bowling just like Vinay Kumar in his last few years. I still remember thrashing given by WI in first ODI during 1994-95 home series. Kapil Dev was kicked off from ODI team after that thrashing. You are right, Srinath was ignored from Indian Test team on home soil matches purely on the cost of this pathetic Kapil Dev. Srinath having debuted in 1990-91 played his first test match on home soil during 1994-95 home series vs WI.

srinath was a good spinner ...nobody has yet figured out why he used to run in halfway from the boundary for delivering the ball.

Maybe you didn't watch Srinath bowl properly. Srinath was genuine pace bowler India ever produced after Mohd. Nisar. His action was naturally designed for good short-pitched bowling. However he lacked intelligence like other quickies in his era like McGrath, Akram, Waqar, Ambrose, Walsh & Donald.
