Why everything is so sensational

He did the unthinkable? - not anytime in history etc... This is just IPL and you are using so many superlatives. Please save them for really great things :-)

I will call Sachin selfless only if he quits playing international matches for in order to give chance to youngsters like Rahane, Rahul Sharma and many others. At the moment he is selfish as he refuses to quit inapite of scoring below 20 in majority of the matches including IPL matches.

Kumar:

Well said. Sangakkara should learn from YOU and act truly "selfless" by quitting International cricket. THAT will help Rahane and 75 others...

Above headline is a mere gimmick with no real selflessness..
Eh? :)

Think before replying. It wasn't Dhoni. It was a team effort. Learn some cricket.

hepal ur brain is very small.
dhoni has no role in wcup win.
India also won wcup in 1983 under Kapil & 1985 bensen cup as good as wcup in 1985 under sunil.
also india lost T-20 wcup in 2008 & 2010 in 1st round loosing all matches under politician dhono.
If u give credit for 2007 t-20 win- why he was not kicked after those losses.
he was always a non performer whether india won or loss.
Why double standard.
When india win- give credit to dhoni.
But when loss in T-20 wcup 2008/2010 & whitewash in Aus/Eng- no kicking. why?

Ganguly is weakest link in Pune. All good efforts of his captaincy are wasting because of his batting and fielding.

same apply to dhoni for CSK.
Weakest link in CSK- who bats run a ball at crucial moment & CSK always score 20 runds less.
If he is dropped, CSK could win 90% of matches as it is one of strongest team on paper

He is not a good T20 batsman
by vijay M on Apr 30, 2012 06:11 PM  | Hide replies

Courage to step down, my a$$. He is not T20 material in the first place and he is definitely not in the league of Sehwag, KP, Ross Taylor, Shane Watson, Gambhir, Dhoni who can single handedly score a big innings and win a match for the team. DC is the weakest team in IPL by a mile and it reflects in their performance.

You are right, but he is better than 75% batsman playing in this IPL. Dada is one of those, who neither can bat, nor can bowl, nor can field or even nor can run between the wickets.. Still captaining..

dhoni & good T-20 batsman.
what a joke?
He is the curse for CSK.
In 38 T-20 intnl matches dhoni played has no fifty or MOM or match winning inning.
his strike rate is pathetic 102 worse than any internation player batting at his position.
Even in IPL he score only when weak bowlers operating. agisnt quality opposition he is a big failure & can only score run a bowl.
sanga is far superior than useless politicain dhoni who manipulates his batting position but still not able to score.
Yes Gyle, watson, tylor, watson etc are class T-20 batsman

Mike Denness of England did it in 1974-75 against Australia
by Kalarab Ray on Apr 30, 2012 05:27 PM  | Hide replies

Mike Denness, the then-skipper of English side that was touring Australia dropped himself from the last (6th) test. By then England was down 0-4, and incidentally England won the last test to end the series 1-4.

useless dhoni should be top at ur list.
Dravid & sachin far superior T-20 batsman than dhoni.
Dhoni strike rate in T-20 intnl is 102 & no MOM or fifty or match winning inning even after playing 38 matches.
Dtavid in his only 1st & last T-20 intnl, hit three consecutive sixes agisnt spinner which dhoni can never do.
in this IPL also dravid is batting better than usless dhoni who always manipulate his batting position to face weak oppositin bolwer

foolish and misleading
by gaurav dube on Apr 30, 2012 05:05 PM

Dear Sir (read Bikash)

I am really surprised to see this foolish little opinion / article on rediff.

if i read a first 3 paras i am forced to think that Sanga choosing to sit down was not a strategic decision but one taken in haste and shows that Sanga did not wanted to play this game whatsoever.

however when i read the last para it is overwhelmingly contradicting. guess you too got confused as to which way to put it up.

he decided to sit out because:-
he was supposed to be thrown out....
he asked his chamchas to loose the match to prove his value in the team... Now he is become permanent member of the team...

Do you think this is selfless????
