The finest captain India produced and one of the finest in the world...was a true sportsman..never indulged in cricketing politics, built the team and team spirit....as Bedi rightly points out, he is the one who brought the team spirit and oneness in the Indian team.

pay respects / not a right situation to comments... go to doctor for an effective treatment.
He was dignified person in any form of cricket, be it batting, fielding or leading the team. his presence always created a confidence among his team. I had watched the famous Chennai Test in 1975 wherein he brought the downfall of mighty west indies with leadership skills coupling with spin bowling and farook engineer tips. May god give strength to Sharmilaji and his children to bear the loss.

BTW, you are right about the 1975 Madras test, he brought a spinner in the very second over and the rest is history....a thinking captain...a genius.
Pak couldn't pay their kargil war dead, they were looking for someone to help pay their dead. They din't have to go very far. One phone call, he raised about 25 crores for Pakistani Kargil mercenaries. Don't worry Pak, Saif Ali Khan is going to fill his shoes.
