need to find bowlers
by sai krishna on Sep 17, 2011 12:37 PM  | Hide replies

we did not have a genuine dependable bowler not even Munaf Patel is good enough. Our country producing lots of talented batsman but not a single match winning bowler. Vinay Kumar, R.P.Singh, Munaf, Ishant, Praveen, even Zaheer Khan also ordinary bowlers in the international level. Munaf i can say is lucky to win one or two matches for India with his bowling but not dependable. Munaf giving away too many runs. Remember in the World cup against england we could not defend 338 and Munaf gave 11 runs in the final over. Zaheer Khan India's No.1 bowler is also not lethal he is an ordinary bowler just better than other indian bowlers. Remember in the World Cup final he gave away lot of runs in the final three overs. It is always our batting ( which some time fails and sometime shines) which gave us the World Cup. Our bowers did not bowl yorkers, slow bowls they have no control over their bowling. Spinners except Harbhajan, Ojha, Mishra, or Ashwin also looked very ordinary both in tests and in One dayers. Harbhajhan is a match winner for us though he was out of form now. So after Kumble we did not not a match winner in the test matches also. And less said about Ishant Sharma is better. Like Agarkar he bowls too many shot pitch bowls.

So our selectors and National Academies should work hard to produce genuine pace and spin bowlers and also All rounders. Thank u

We are a batsmen centric nation. Even yesterday the commentators were talking about india hitting form because we put up 300. Bowlers are what made our victories outside india possible, not recordkars. Atleast now we should make sure our fast bowlers get 5-6 months experience a year on bowler friendly pitches and also make sure we prepare wickets that support spin and encourage spinners to flight the ball.

Funny post Which fast bowlers are you talking about? Those 120 -25 km hr fast spinners?Pakistan our poor neighbour got similar dead and flat pitches but produced the modt devastating fasties How?One thing I am pretty sure that they cannot afford their fast bowlers to have 5-6 months experience in England Aus or SA

almost every single one of those who you call slow were able to bowl around 135-140. But then they get into medium bracket to prolong their career. Pakistan does not have only flat wickets. They produce wickets which support good bounce. So get your facts right. Dont arrange factoids around your preassumption of diet being responsible. Yes they can. English country plays players who come and play. BCCI does not need to spend money. Buddy pl inform yourself.

Dude you dont make any sense Why they convert to slow bowlers because they are fragile ,for high performance and endurance their bodies are not fit.For your info Eden Gardens and Mohali used to be the fastest pitches in Indian Subcontinent.

Thats probably bcz you dont understand the issue well enough. Why did these same bowlers decide not to go for building the muscles they need to sustain ?. Pl spare me the protein from meat myth as protein consists of amino acids and rice plus beans combination provides all amino acids to create a complete protein. Yes mohail and eden gardens are still good if we allow some grass on the pitches. Ask yourself how many matches do we play there and how many of such matches have pacer friendly wickets prepared ? That should give you the answer.

Same climate and preparing wickets that does not support pace are 2 different things. Nobody said india cannot produce pace friendly wickets. Remember the 2 test matches SA won in India recently and the one won by australia from which ganguly was supposed to have opted out feigning injury. Those were held in India. They just let more grass on the wickets. Thats all.

lol. Mani none of those pitches are in england. Are we to assume english pitches and conditions are inferior ? DUMAZZ in india also we can create conditions favoring fast bowling. We just opted not to. If we had opted for it, then our fast bowlers could have kept their pace abilities alive. Instead we make them play on placid pitches prepared to score runs and they slowly become medium bowler who depend on variation so as to keep their career alive and kicking. Think and analyze and you will get it.

by Paul Deepak on Sep 17, 2011 12:27 PM

Dhoni may be a good captain, only we has the right players firing in the team. He should also be unbiased and listen to experienced player. From now on he must concentrate on building the future of Indian batting and bowling, Bring in good batsmen like Manoj Tiwary, Manish Pandey, AT Rayudu, and real fast bowlers like Varun Aaron, Unmesh Yadav, and JD Unakdat

BCCI is soley responsible!!
by varghese on Sep 17, 2011 12:20 PM  | Hide replies

If we notice clearly BCCI is alone responsible for the defeat of India and the shame of India in England!!

The following is the chief reason:

No one sends an Team overseas after an grueling season. The team sent was an spent out team..they had no energy left in them..the selection was totally wrong..the timing of the tour shows how horribly BBCI selects and forces the Players to play to their dictum.High time we nationalize this CLUB..

Can any private CLUB select an NATIONAL TEAM?????

BCCI ---- East India Company...

the best time to take over and nationalize BCCI is Now..

u all are typical dhoni fans with bised & political comments.
When india win wcup- all credit to useless medicore captain dhoni who was a big failure as batsman till final.
No one was talking about BCCI.
When india loose- blame BCCI.
Double standatd hypocrites.
If dhoni got all tee credits/awards for win as a captain- When india white washed, he should only be blamed & kicked out from team.
But many of resional fanatic fans are born hypocrites.
If BCCI become govt- it will be worse like hockey, teniis federation -all bancorrupt & ruled by selfish politician/burecrats from north.
But then all dhoni fans are typical political minded people & will always favour corruption, biasing, regionalosm & govt control on every thing

Did Dhoni's batting helped India to win at least 1 shorter version of the game?

Time to bring in young fast bowlers
by venu sense on Sep 17, 2011 11:23 AM  | Hide replies

I think time has come for some soul search for MS Dhoni. We all know that we cannot be a great team without genuine fast bowlers. We have two promising youngsters in Varun Arron and Yadav who consistently bowl above 140 KMPH.
It’s time to bring them in and guide them and develop them into world class genuine fast bowlers. There is no point in fantasizing with RP Singh and Praveen Kumar. They are and were always suspect at that level of cricket.
The writing is on the wall for Indian cricket; develop, nurture genuine fast bowlers or perish. The most painful fact is we have raw young fast bowlers who are not given adequate opportunities and are allowed to age on sidelines of Indian cricket.
Sometimes I have this fear that there is some invincible force deliberately discouraging our fast bowling youngsters. However it’s time to change, bring on young fast bowlers. Never ask them to bowl line and length at expense of speed. Encourage them to bowl fast with line, length etc. of course not to forget the vital Yorkers and bouncers.

Height of foolishness is saying red meat eaters produce more speed on pitches or have more energy than Veges..

If what ur saying is right then Indians should not play Cricket..nor should Indians expect to win any game..we should also then dismantle the army and defense as majority of our soldiers are dal eaters..

according to me an balanced Food would serve the purpose..sport foods are there which could also be used...

Pace is not what matters. KMPH or MPH is just for the statisticians. A Kapil will walk into any side with his bowling skills. Wasim Akram or McGrath or Hadlee or Walsh were getting more wickets because of mastery over swing and seam and not because of intimidating pace. Mohd Asif (who is more in news for all bad reasons) is more likely to get wickets for Pak than others if he is disciplined. RP and KP can not bowl consistently and can not match any of those spells regularly bowled by Kapil.
Pace along with accuracy matters - like Marshall, Steyn. But that is a rare combination.
Shoib or Shaun Tait are not required. Bowlers like any of the other greats mentioned above are welcome.

There is only one road to recovery.Take the extra-ordinary amounts of cash out of this game. Now I am not saying that anyone should be banned or kicked out...simply this: all moneys made out of this game whether player salaries or rewards or endorsements or profits made by BCCI should be taxed at 90% flat rates.
We fans will continue to bring money into the game..through purchase of high cost tickets or paying exorbitant prices for products advertised or in many other ways...lets ensure that it goes into the right pockets..not these
