RE:Kambli claims not worth probing: BCCI

I am not sure what Mr. Kambli aims to accomplish by this ‘revelation’.
Let us look at the facts on the ground. The man he is accusing (Azharuddin) is already serving a life–ban and another (Jadeja) was banned for 5 years never to play for India again. So, what does Kambli want the BCCI to do? Ban them again?
Now let us look at Kambli himself - he last played Test cricket in 1995, was not picked in the ODI team after October 2000 and last played senior domestic cricket in 2004. 7 years after playing his last first-class game, he announced his retirement from the format at the age of 39 after also being overlooked by the IPL.
Add this all up and one is left with the feeling that he is doing this just for the sake of free publicity and to get his 15 minutes in the spotlight. By his actions, the man is becoming a joke and a sad one at that.
Let it go Vinod. It is over.

Seeing, what is happening around the world in betting issue, it would not be irrelevent issue for BCCI to go for proble in regard to Kambli's remarks since he was part of the team.

this response from bcci raises a lot of doubts.there is some thing fishy here, which needs to be probe. this bcci response seems like hiding something sinister under the carpet.

BCC EXPECTED TO BE MORE FORTHCOMING AND NOT REACTIVE
by damodaran mohan on Nov 20, 2011 03:14 PM

The summary dismissal by BCCI reflects somewhat nervousness on its part as though they have something to hide. Instead Rajiv Shukla could have shown willingness to probe provided Kambli produces evidence. BCCI is lucky that credibility of Kambli is very low and by linking it to his aborted career his claim loses further thrust. It is not clear the exact background or what made Kambli suddenly come out with this claim after 15 yrs however in light of the statement of ICC’s AC official last week that matches were mostly fixed in the nineties , Kambli’s claim cannot be completely brushed aside.Given this background ICC chief Sharad Pawar’s refutation also doesn’t do any good to either his own or ICC’s reputation. Now coming to the match in question , at least at that time we had not heard about any such rumors although if I remember correctly the Ind-Pak match played before this which Pak lost, that is the Qtr final did attract some adverse reaction from Pak for two reasons. One, pulling out of Wasim Akram claiming injury and two, not playing of Saqlain Mushtaq by the team management inspite of insistence by Imran Khan. Pak had won the previous WC and India had won it much earlier once already.SL was the only sub-continental team not to have won it which they did it in 1996.Happy ending. Of course it doesn’t prove any thing.

Kambli's Claim is worth proving
by ram srivastava on Nov 20, 2011 03:05 PM

Kambli's Claim is worth proving. If 2G case in Delhi and also IPS officer Mr Bhatt's claims in Gujarat can be considered from back date, why not in this case?
