Its a very old English Trick... Divide and Rule... Chapple by praising Sachin & Dhoni trying to get their supporters against Ganguly (By doing that selling his book to all). I can see so many msgs against Ganguly and against Sachin... See how its so easy to turn us against each other.. based on regional preferences... Ganguly was the best captain by far till that time.. He brought in Sehwag, Yuvraj, Zaheer, Harbhajan, and promoted other young players while not letting rahul, VVS or Sachin feel insecure. Its a tough job captaining Indian Cricket team... and he did very well... No Leader can be good to all... this is the eternal rule of leadership... You cannot please everyone... He did what he thought was good for Indian Cricket... On some issues he may have been wrong but he backed himself... He was ousted after Pawar thought it as a way to get his back on Dalmiya... to show him he is the new boss... Yet he made comeback and did reasonablly ok... This man was our Captain who rejuvenated an ailing Indian Cricket team after Azhar was sacked.. he transformed the way we played the game... Dhoni got a team which had perfect blend of youth and experience... because of Ganguly... Let's show him some respect and not malign his contribution because we support somebody else and an Aussie is saying so...
Sourav's insecurity as a Captain is not from his upbringing as alleged by Chappel.
Chappel should know a little about Indian cricketing history.
Sachin was the golden boy of all administrators, media, and all Indians.
Sachin came from a powerful Mumbai lobby who were hailing him as a neo Don Bradman ever since he made his debut at 16.
Around the same time a Bengali boy called Sourav Ganguly who was all but 17 was picked purely for his talent but never was given a chance in the tour and was treated shabbily. Sourav's Bengali pride was hurt.
Again, after 4-5 years, he was given a singly chance in hostile conditions at Lords England; it was a do or die situation for Sourav. Had he failed in his debut match, he never would have played test cricket again.
What Sourav did at Lord's is known to everyone.
Yet, Sourav never supported regional politics when he was Captain. Sachin when Captain always rooted for his pal VInod Kambli.
Sourav chose people on merit and supported them irrespective of the region he came from.
You wont see one East Indian in his team. Harbhajan was his choice.
When Sourav was captain, Bombay lobby was hellbent on removing him. THey lost no chance to protect their boy Sachin.
Sachin goofed up as Captain.
When these kinds of politics happening around him when he was Captain, when he didnt put his cronies in team, it is natural for Sourav or anyone to feel insecure.
Chappel would have rectified surroundings around Sourav than rectifying Sourav himsel

I agree with most of the things u said, but Sourav was instrumental in bringing Deep dasgupta,Shiv sundar das & Saba Karim into the team when he was the captain and they are all from East Zone.He single handedly destroyed the ODI careers of both Anil Kumble and VVS Laxman ,prefering Harbhajan and Dinesh Mongia over them which i feel he shouldn't have done in an otherwise illustrious career as a captain.Though India won the WC under Dhoni i feel the team of 2003 was the best that India fielded in a WC.He is by far the most successful captain that India has produced so far.

Did we have Dhoni at that time???He is from EAST zone so he would encourage people...as if people from South dont support fellow southies...and I guess VVS never cemented his place as ODI player, and r u mad to talk like this abt Anil Kumble? Seems u have very little or poor knowledge regarding cricet

When Azzu can bring in V Raju from Hyd, in place of Utpal Chatterjee who was far superior a player than Raju, then I guess it proves every person prefers his own region...Wont u do in ur workplace..

Anil Kumble started performing consistently in Tests outside India only from 2003, you can check his record. How did he destroy Laxman. Dinesh Mongia played ODIs and not tests. Laxman never played ODIs after Saurav was out of Indian captaincy.

Dear friend who spoiled sachin's captaincy ,who got him run out so many times ,who stopped his back to back double century,who spoiled 2003 world cup party nobody else but your hero ganguli,check out that,think if you have the answers
this is alesson to our overenthusiasm towards Australian coaches. Chappel was always behaving like --iam the gret and I am right type.Ganguly b, one o th bravest cricketers in the history of the game taught him a lesson and chappel could never accept or digest that.

Greg is right Ganguly would do every thing to retain his captaincy undermine fellow players His claim to fame was Laxman ,Dravid and Harbhajn .He was particularly scared of Laxman did not paricularly back him He was more in patronising mode the youngsters .He scored a laboured 100 in Zimbabway and he thought he was answaering his detractors After he was dropped from the team MP from WB wanted to raise the issue in the parliament .He got his job because of Dalmia and he bad mouthed him Whan you are playing for the country you are loyal only to your country no body else.No body need to be grateful to any body as long as perform well .Greg perhaps tried too much too soon and he was blunt in his expression . Ther no coparison between Dhoni and Ganguly .Ganguly is unscruplous Dhoni is honest in his opinions .His out look is keep evolving you play well you will win if you loose no excuses Gangulys scare of rising ball is tooo well known one can not forget Nagpur test against Australian Sachin and as usual Laxman held the fort leading India to victory in a low scoring match A request gangulys folowers dont compare him with Dhoni who is wise man

hi tripathi, i think u know nothing about cricket. by their sheer talent dravid and laxman play for india. as far as ganguly he was in the team so long mainly because of politics. who is ganguly to give chance to dravid. do u know how many test matches dravid and laxman won for india.first go and analyse before making comments. i cannot even think of a test match that ganguly had won by his ability. it is mainly because of both dravid ad laxman, his captaincy record looks good.otherwise he would have been thrown out of the team long time ago.

mr. vijay anand i think you have more knowlege in cricket, Could you remind your memory regarding selection of 2003 world cup team, that time soarav only one person to tack favour for dravid, thus why dravid got the chance to play 2003 world cup. ok
We do not believe in what Greg has said in his book !! We trust " Dadi " -- so far who has proved himself as the best captain India has ever produced. Remember, Dhoni is captaining and winning with most of the players whom Ganguly recruited. Greg has never paid back his gratitude to Ganguly who favoured him to made him the coach. He is not only a betrayer but also still trying to black Ganguly's fame and image. We, the Indians are proud of "Dada" who rescued Indian team and built "Team India" !! Hats off to him. Shame Mr. Chappel. I'm not going to buy your book.
