Pitch doctoring
by Rajagopal Subramanian on May 29, 2011 08:26 AM  | Hide replies

How can the final be played at a venue favouring one of the finalist.
CSK won most of the matches at home. Yet, they were second and not much differece in points between the first three teams. This means they lost most of their matches played outside Chennai. The one team that could have given them a taste of their own medicine was RR. The pitch was then changed and warne fined.
Both the eliminator and the finals were played on pitches which were not worthy of a final. A Pity. MSD is a astute captian and would have done them proud even on good wickets.
Pity Chennai could not produce a good wicket

Out of 4 matches played between with RCB in this edition CSK has won 3 matches, including the one played at neutral venue.

CSK are better team to have won the cup than RCB, who had relied just on one player.

CSK and MI were finalist in the last edition of IPL...hence they were the two best teams and so its right that they vplay only once...well even MI were lucky to play CSK only once...and every team knows that the finals will be held in venue of last years champions...next year the finals will be held again in chennai and semi / qualifiers in b'lore...all teams are aware of that..so thats no excuse...had b;'lore won next years finals would be b'lore...stop making silly comments...

Are you serious? So the final's venue was chosen after semi-final 1's result? Listen, CSK performed extremely well in all dept. Even in the matches they lost they fought like warriors gave the opponents run for their money. They deserve the cup. If you can't accept facts I'm sorry.

IPL suited for Chennai

While Chennai played well and deserve their title, there were subtle supports for Chennai in the format like group formation such that it plays only once with strong teams like Mumbai during league phase and keeping the qualifier and finals in Chennai etc.

Bangalore just depended on Gayle and no one else was worth even playing a tennis ball cricket. What can you expect out of a liquor baron, a womaniser and a idiot ? You locals of Karnataka are fit enough to eat a tasteless Ragi mudda and nothing else and hence can only grow the body and not the mind. Chennai are a well planned team and used the resources very well. The main reason for the brilliance of TN is that they think and act and not fight over everything like you from karnataka.

Dont understand why this is Karnataka v/s TN thing? How many times Karnataka has won Ranji? Way more than TN. No sure why some many tamilians make so stupid comments? RCB and CSK are two private teams and nothing to do with state associations as such, For what ever it is worth RCB played two days in a row , lost the toss and lost the match. Simple!

This is ridiculous. Before this IPL Chennai had come to final twice, won once and also the Champions league conquering champions from all over the world. So they are the strongest team coming in to this IPL. They are the only professional team where there is no one super star, just every one excelled when needed. They are looking like the Australian team (when they were in peak). Now don't start that they chose Yellow jersey so Australians are hidden under that. Grow up. Seriously if they were given easy chances why did not Bangalore thrash them in Semi-final 1 so they have rest and thrash Chennai again in finals. Remember they thrashed Mumbai on the same Chennai pitch just the day before. CSK is the strongest team and there was no support what so ever for them.

actually if one had closely observeed the comments of the bombay centric commentators like harsha bhogle and their ilk, they kept on needling sivaramakrishn for his support to CSK , it was very difficult for a decent person like even harsh not to show his partisan view of mumbai indian support , they were actually seething in anger , just like the last time around this time too , they did not give due credit to the CSK for winning it, its as if a lesser undeservfing team won. BUT fact remains facts , MSD has smeered egg on their faces.

When RCB was sinking, Gayle comes in he took RCB on top of table.

Can anybody justify his inclusion in team as a replacement??...and if Gayle really was a replacement then how he can retained till final??

Gayle is not able to counter quality spin bowling.

Bravo is also a replacement for Randiv.

It is team management's decision to pick the best 11. He made a statement this edition but choked in the very important final (courtesy quality spin bowling...)

This is for CSK bashers
by MeetFireWithFire on May 29, 2011 07:31 AM

There are many naïve people in the forum claiming the CSK has fixed this IPL. There were many match fixing theories (fixing umpires, pitches, grounds, player selection in auction etc) doing the rounds this IPL. This is really comical unless it is proved. RCB would not have allowed Chennai to win the Qualifier match against Chennai if it were to be really fixed. Raina and Co played brilliantly to score the 45 of 25 balls to ensure Chennai reach another IPL final and the rest they say is history.

Fortune favours the brave. Dhoni is one of them. He does not talk much. Acts. His decision to ask Aswin to open the bowling in the circumstances was a great one.Success has become a habit with him. I wish some of our old politicians learnt a few lessons from Dhoni. Srikanth has selected the best players.

Indian players in CSK are the best lot than any other team in IPL. After all, it is the numbers game. 7 good Indian players mean a better team and so would be the results

What ever they say, it was the astute planning of MSD, his motivation of players & his ( )ve attitude, which enabled them to retain the trophy. The way he had planned and also played a role himself in taming Gayle is a genius. Compare his attitude with some others - Yuvraj, Gambhir or excaptain ganguly and one can see the truth - execpt one chooses to blindfold his eyes.
