You are close to the answer. The other players in CSK have rallied around dhoni. You need to understand what is leadership.

Despite knowing fully well that Balaji is an ordinary bowler,he used him for the last over against MI. Had it been Kallis or TenDo, KKR would nt have lost. This is where Dhoni scores over all other captains. If Dhoni was the captain of KKR or MI, that team would have taken the cup

Tamilians are respected for their many great achievements and that makes us Indians proud but they have to adopt ,as you have rightly said, unity in diversity approach.
let us shed our regional affiliations and think not only like Indians but also like a global citizen...

I liked the fact you said the truth that hindi is not hated down south. Perceived notion is always different from reality. Reality is southies dont hate northies. All the mess about regionalism and language rift is spread by few miscreants which then stems into the mainstream. I have heck a lot of north indians as friend and I just love every indian the same way. Its so dishearting to see some brainless idiots blabbering about the north/south divide. I suggest all intellectuals to disregard those comments and spread the reality. I would be have been proud even if any other IPL team won the finals , as IPL means victory to India and that we can make the world watch us. So all the intellectuals , lets take it a point to spread the fact that we indians are united under une umbrella and no matter how many states or languages we have.

The only sensible thing done by mallya was roping in gayle. Only he made the difference. They were pathetic till he came in to the scene. Any match that he flopped, the opponents won hands down. It was so easy to predict. there is no need to feel sad abt b'lore losing, that team deserved 1 or 2 place from bottom. because of one man's effort they are ending up as runner up !!!!

It is pity that even after playing under Dhoni for many years Tendulkar has not learn even the basics of Captaincy.
Only due to Tendulkar's miserable captaincy Mumbai Indians are not able to win the IPL cup.

India staarted the losing streak with Pakistan from the time of Miandad's last ball six in 1986. That was a good five years before Azhar became captain, and Azhar has won three WC matches as captain agaisnt Pakistan. In 1999 WC he was the top scorer with a 50, agiasnt Pak in a match that was played during the Kargil war. The match was reportedly fixed as observed in Qayyum report, and Pak lost the match, without any effects to its qualification points.

Azhar always guranteed results, both in victrory and defeat.

Suresh Raina had captained CSK several times to victory in the absence of dhoni especially in 2009 & 10. As of Kohli, his anger & immaturity was evident in the matches where opposition scored heavily especially when Badri scored above 20 in his overs & against others. He can't be a good captain and he needs few more years of maturity. As of Bhajji, dumb-a*s arrogant idiot, at times ppl think whether we need him in the team itself after the likes of Ashwin, Ojha, Iqbal etc. Raina has many years of experience and a cool, friendly guy, who has don dhoni's role to good of perfection and execution in his absence and has played crucial knocks in pressure. He is the best available captain in the lot.

Kohli is definitely not a choice as a captain, as he cannot control his emotions and he is too young to shoulder the responsibility Suresh Raina is the right choice. Bhajji, you know well, how aggressive off and on field.

Next years format
by amit mishra on May 29, 2011 10:35 AM  | Hide replies

From Next year CSK should directly play in Semis and remaining 9 teams should compete for other 3 SF places. Because CSK has entered SF 4 times, Finals 3 times and winner 2 times.
To give reward to consistent team, they must play SF directly ( may be qualifier and not eliminator).
Even with this format, CSK will enter final. Because the 7 local players are MSD, Raina, Vijay, Badri, Saha ( or Anirudha),Ashwin and Jakati are classical star players and with them the other 4 foreign players like Hussey, Bravo, Morkel and Bollinger make the most consistent team
IS there any team with such consistent players. No way
CSK the undisputed champions of IPL and it will follow in coming years

Lucky dhoni
by ASHISH KUMAR on May 29, 2011 10:26 AM  | Hide replies

Congratulation to CSK team.
It is even more interesting as Final is totally dominated by local Vijay, aswin, Jakati.
Badrinath also consistent performer thruout tournamnet.
Foreigners Hussy, Bolinger, Morkel & raina also contributed well.
But at the end useless poilitician dhoni will eat all the credit. He played well(30 score) only in 4 out of 16 inning (that aslo agiant weakest bowling attcak)& two time CSK lost out of those 4 innings.
Also always failed with bat when faced quality bowling atttcak of DC,KKT, KKR & MI.
His sitatra/luck is going fine for last 2-3 months but its just temporary.
Raidu last ball 6 against KKR, Toss win in S/F & final, final at chennai -all due to dhoni luck.
His batting skill was best exposed when facing quality bowler zaheer khan in 18th over , still could not strike the ball

dhoni greatest manipulator & luckiest captain.
Always eat credit of others.
any captain is as god as his team,
In final also when he saw score 159/1 promoted himself so that he can score few easy runs, ramians not out & boost his strike rate/avg. this he is doing it for last 5 yrs.
Even in final its show of local players Vijay/ashwin/jakati but this useless politician will eat all the credit.
His batting limitation was seen when he faced 4 dot balls to zaheer. But he will always score runs against ordinary bowler like Gyle/Mithun.
It was a known fact that CSK team is strongest in home condition & clear favourite to win this cup as final in chennai.
If captaincy could win matches, CSK would not have lost 5 out of 7 league matches in IPL-4 played outside chennai.
Its team composition, nature of pitch, no. of match winners & form of players win matchs & not captain.
Dhoni luck is going great way for last 2-3 months but same will not last forever as form is temporary & class is permanent & dhoni never had this class of great player

Actually CSK lost 4 out of 7 not 5. of this 2 matches were lost due to rain, 1 match lost bcos of valtaty brilliant innings (So brilliant that he got an award for that yesterday). Everybody knows CSK is cut above all the teams and consistant. This is not bcos of Luck. Last 4 years we reached 3 finals & 1 Semi Final. If you think this is Luck then you are fool. Remember the last league match with Bangalore, where MSD promoted himself to 3 down when situation is worst and got a fighting 70...single handly he won last year semifinal kind match against KXII. Out of all team, only CSK can be termed as local team as major contribution comes from local TN boys.

DJ your line is absolutely right-Form is temporary but class is permanent. Thats why Dhoni led India has been winning consistently for a long time. Agreed he is not a class batsman like Sachin but he is a class act when it comes to leadership. Ok the Indian team is got world class batters than any other international team and if we accept for the time being that Dhoni is lucky, then what about IPL? On paper definitely CSK is not the strongest. But every player gives more than 100% and if you see they have played as a team and every person in the 11 has contributed in almost every match. They did not win simply because of any individual brilliance. All players contributed and it is the combination of motivation by the leader & strategy that won them the IPL for the second consecutive team. Iam no big fan of Dhoni. But now Iam a big fan of Dhoni-not the player but the captain. Iam a manager and take inspiration from Dhonis leadership style. His IPL victories should become case studies in MBA courses for leadership skills
