Raina is out of form except 1 good inning in world cup.
by sudhakar on May 15, 2011 01:21 PM

he is out of form for more than year...just because he is friend of dhoni he is still in team.even uthappa can make those 30-40 Raina making once in 5 matches.some senior players do not want good players like uthappa and rayudu as replcement as they will give competition to their places..thats why they are picking saha, vinay kumar.

Viswanathan
Rayudu
by Viswanathan on May 15, 2011 06:38 AM

It is very surprising that both Rohit Sharma and Saha got the nod of selection committee instead of Rayudu and another all rounder. Rohit has been given umpteen of chances and proved to be a failure at International level.

Zonal selection

Saha was a zonal selection. Maybe he will get the match fee for sitting in the bench.
Rahul sharma/rayadu/iqbal needed call

Boss, that is not the case. The powers that be knew that wanted parthiv would in the playing 11 if saha is selected as the captain would have no option but the select parthiv. Had rayudu been selected, the captain would definitely have preferred rayudu and not parthiv patel!

Well to be fair to Saha, he did play decently in the limited opportunities he got for India, including that gritty 30 odd runs against Steyn and co. in SA when the rest of the team crumbled. So from that viewpoint, I do not blame the selectors that much on Saha. But my heart goes out to Rayudu.. the guy has lost the prime years of his career already due to dirty politics and his ICL stint. My fear is - after a year or so, he may not be picked because he is "too old".

srinivas batni
Indian team for WI
by srinivas batni on May 14, 2011 02:43 PM

The team is loaded with middle order and down below batsman. Only Parthiv and Gambhir are openers. Rayadu should have been there in place of Saha and Utthappa in place of Rohit. In case of failure of patel either or both as batsman/wicket keeper, Utthappa is a better option and he can bat at any position.
WI may be a weak tem as of today, but they are masters in fast bowling on their pitches and lack of experienced batsmen will be felt by India when this new set will fall prey to rising balls/bouncers (Holing out to the fielders on the fence). Good Luck India.

Are selectors idots ?
by chirag foryou on May 14, 2011 02:23 PM  | Hide replies

.
ROHIT SHARMA
61 Odi, 27 Avg, strike rate 75 = Very very poor performance of given long opportunities.

What makes rohit so call talented? If he is so talented, why his highest level performance is so poor?
.

It was decided the Yuvi will be captain after his string contribution in WC.
But all politics - The team selection criteria

1. Dhoni's insecurity : Dhoni always ahve a insecurity that Yuvi can take his captaincy

2: Raina VC : Because he is good friend of Dhoni as his wife. And both play for Chennai.

3. Selection of Ashwin instead of Rahul Sharma :

Rahul play for Pune ( Yuvi's team ) and Ashwin play for Chennai.

4. Selection of Badri instead of Rayudu:

Because Badri play for chennei.

5. Selection of Ishant Sharma :

Because he play for Kolkatta and new caption is from KKR

Stupid logic... Saha is the only questionable selection Probably based on regionalism, all others seems ok.

These guys want to whine about Ashwin. Ashwin has had pretty good career at the international level so far. His first class averages are way better. And he had done reasonably well this IPL season. Rahul Sharma OTOH has had some good games in IPL. But his first class performances suck big time.

these ppl have to always complain and complain and complain... they can't perform in the field, but still wants to be selected... if not, the selectors are biased...

where were these idoits when robin singh don't get his chnace when young??? same goes with sridharan sharath, badri, jaffar and a lot others... they only question when it comes to their state players...
