Thats crap. ICC is just too casual about the sport. The fact that there is no standard size of ground is undiputable evidence that ICC is a bunch of jokers. Yes, unfortunately, they control the sport. But saying that no one should ever question them is un-reasonable.

If the ball has pitched at 2.49mts what will be the out come and if the ball pitched at 2.51 mts what will be the out come? Can some one in the ICC answer these queries. If Dhoni has to know all the rules then he will be an Umpire or an administrator, not a player.

DHONI & UDRS : FACTS DOWN THE MEMORY LANE:
by Srinivasan Renganathan on Mar 02, 2011 08:09 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni is a spent force in Indian cricket. But, only due to his luck factor and a comparative better team than in the past, he is sticking to the chair. His contribution is almost nil or even negative in the past two years. He is now more egoistic & sees that the current in-form players like Raina or Kolhi gets chopped or their batting order shuffled in every second match. He also dosent like Yusuf Pathan to get more opportunities ahead of his friend Yuvraj. Unless he gets injured & either Parthiv Patel of Uthappa replaces him, it is tough times for Indian cricket. His foolish tactics & blunders in the past two years have cost Indian drawing or loosing many easy matches.
Unless he gets rid of Yuvraj Singh, Piyush Chawla, it will be very difficult for India to perform well in this world cup.

UDRS was first supported by the great Indian team during its tour of Sri Lanka a few years back. But, as Indian batsman cannot play more than 140 Kms/Hr nor Quality spin, Muralitharan, Mendis etc made a joke of Indian batting whereas our Self Proclaimed Great "Monkey Bhajji" could do nothing. From that series onwards, Dhoni & Indian Experts are having nighmares about UDRS. When every other team is in favour of the UDRS system, whether Dhoni & Indian Experts are above the law/game?????

Hi,

There is a lot of discussion on why Dhoni was not aware of the rules. This includes an always unreasonable Bishen Sigh Bedi criticizing him for showing disagreement with rules.

I think let us not forget a couple of things:

1. It was not only Dhoni, who was not aware of the rules. England captain acknowledged that he also was not aware of the rules. ICC needs to look at its functioning and figure out why even captains of the sides competing in the tournament are not clear. This is a clear example of bad communication.

2. Dhoni has a undisputable right like any other professional cricketer to question the rational of the rules, whether people like Dave Richardson and Bedi like it or not.

3. If ICC is so certain about the uncertainty of LBW decision that on ground umpire can give benefit of doubt and they can't even confirm it with help of technology, we should have a rule that if the impact is beyond 2.5 meters from stumps, no LBW so that there is consistency. Same like no LBW decision on balls pitching outside leg stump

I feel it was a definite ego problem more than anything that stopped the umpire from changing his decision even when the batsman was convinced that he was out.

In the end, Dhoni must own up responsibility for poor bowling changes, field placement and bad leadership but we can't dump him with poor umpiring and inconsistent rules from ICC. Its hightime that ICC improves their act.

Hey Moron, understand what Dhoni is saying. UDRS said that it is out. The umpire refused to accept that decision and gave a not out. Dhoni is right, if you are using technology then follow it no matter what. Otherwise there is a very high chance for favouritism

Well Said my friend.Your comments are really difficult to understand. You better get into an IT job and I am sure you would be able to confuse everyone except yourself and make your way to the highest position. I guess you dont know the facts that Dhoni is in Top 5 batsman, per ICC ratings. I must appreciate your courage to point the most successfull captain of India. May be people are more tolerant nowadays and that gives courage to say whatever we feel like. Even Monica Bedi is back on entertainment screen and India forgot/forgave her past.

When umpire makes a mistake BCCI complains and again when UDRS used BCCI complains ... what does BCCI and Dhoni wants ... every thing according to them ... comeon play cricket on field ... instead of playig cricket and looking at our faults Dhoni wants ICC to do something ... Lorgat and Rich correctly said that first he should read the rule before sayinga word ....

How do you know when a fool is talking? When Lorgat opens his mouth. If the cr@p is not good for 1 yeard, how can it be good for 21 yards? Who are the experts who determined that? LOL. With ICC and its credence we know who they might be. Someone who doesn't know cricket...

Is there any thing in rules to stick with the decision made
by Hemanathan on Mar 02, 2011 07:35 PM  | Hide replies

ICC cricketing rules states that UDRS is void if ball pitches outside 2.5 mt.
Video clearly showed that ball is going to hit the stumps.
On-field umpire could have easily changed is decision on his own.

What is wrong with UDRS. If with UDRS you can't make decisions when the ball pitches outside 2.5 mts, then it is correct to go with on-fiels umpire. And it's not good to change the decision then there is no point in asking back the on-field umpire if he has to go with UDRS, in that case then directly UDRS dicision itself can be taken.
And in case if UDRS wouldn't have been there then anyways the decision was against so why to cry. The only thing is you didn't benefit and also you didn't lose anything.

The onfield has to make the first decision in real time where he gets a glimpse. With the UDRS he got a second look in slow motion. He is an umpire who has the ability to judge spin and bounce and make an educated better decision. Dont look at ball hitting the stumps. Follow the same technique you use at regular speed. But instead of using the tech , ie of slow motion, he instead went to rule book. It is a wrong decision, eventhough right by the book.

In that case UDRS should not provide a decision. It should just say since the ball pitched more than 2.5 mts away it will not be used.
