Dravid
by Abhijit Nair on Jun 24, 2011 08:41 AM  | Hide replies

Dravid has the best record in terms of test hundreds not leading to a defeat
Of his 32 centuries India lost only one Test .
% of loss when he scores a 100 is just 3.2% .
He is followed by Kallis, Gavaskar and Steve Waugh.

What a struggle to beat weak team like WI!!
63 runs win isn't that great against minnows.
Fact is Indian batting have totally failed except Dravid, Raina & Bhajji who saved Indian innings from collapse. Its bowlers who won the match for India.

Batting flops like Vijay & Kohli need to be dropped. Mukund should get another chance as he looked promising.

Come on my friend.... A WIN is a WIN by any standards..... plus, the Indian Team is always tentative in the First Game and Complacent in the last Game.....From here-on, this Indian Team will only improve.... So in the Next test, you will actually have an Indian win by an Innings and 63 runs... Good Luck.....

This is not CSK team who is playing against WI. Influential mules like Vijay are getting too many chances, fact is all this pushed-over mules are flop at international level.

England will thrash India badly in next series..watch out
by Manish Kulkarni on Jun 24, 2011 07:48 AM  | Hide replies

Real series. Indian cricket is now all about bogus criket, scams like IPL, T20 and even one day crap expose kids like Kohli and other one day punters badly when it comes to bouncy pitches, bouncers. Kohli was blowing kisses while getting killed by bouncers, he was badly exposed and won't survive test cricket. Lot of these guys are used to flat pitches, playing on dead pitches. Tremlet, Anderson and Broad gonna reall beat these guys, It's all up to Sachin, Dravid and to some extent Laxman who has rested too much and it was very clear..Sehwag will be disaster in that series because he now gets out quickly , trying to hit every ball does not help. Gambhir is the only fighter and will grind it out, Dhoni is overhyped when it comes to batting, he is getting worse in every test match. He is riding the work done by other guys. Yuvraj is flat pitch master..I would not be shocked to see India lose the series, with the kind of lousy bowling attack, Bhajii is looking hopeless, so he is now focusing on batting..It's only Zahir, Ishant is crap, he was great in the first series again Aussies, after that it's all downhill..India number #1 tag is joke and they are #1 because lot of matches have been played in India..watch out for whitewash, India will desperately try to look for drwas, forget winning. They just don't have bowlers to take 20 wickets. England batting is so strong now..in fact Pravin Kumar may be a better choice that loser Shrishant because he is true seam bowler..watch ou

Infact Indian cricket has never looked better than what it is now. All the mainstream players are in prime form as they have been rightfully rested. Harbhajan, along with Zaheer has been the mainstay of the Indian bowling for the last 15-20 years and he has more than lived upto the task.
Don't forget India hasn't become the No.1 test team overnight. We have won some great contests and series and that too in countries like England, West Indies, Pakistan, Australia etc.

Apart from the experienced players, 'Kids' like Kohli and Raina have turned out to be real finds of Indian cricket. Well supported by Yuvraj Singh who is in prime form ever since the world cup.

Talking about the English bowlers, they are good, but it was this same team which had Anderson and Broad which we beat (i think 2-0,2 yrs back). Only Tremlett is new.
The lower order has also started performing. Amit Mishra has turned out to be a very good batsman and an equally good bowler. Praveen Kumar may churn out to be the next Zaheer and is a superb find.
All in all, the picture looks good.I would back India to win.

There was no Stuart Broad when India played Tests in Eng in 2007
Tremlett , Anderson and Sidebottom were there all inexperienced as main bowlers Flintoff,Hoggard and Harmisin were not available.
India won 1-0 in Eng and thanks to Steve Bucknor who did not give the no.11 Panesar out in 1st test in Lords ( it was a plumb lbw)the rain came imm. afterwards otherwise it would have been 1-1

India beat eng 1 -0 in India in 2008 and there were just 2 tests.
I think India Eng series would be 1-1 or 2-2 , if it is 2-2 it would be the most interesting one in recent times

Looking at the 1st test ,one should understand that Parthiv patel will be better option than both the opener,it is clear that they are getting chance because of Srikanth, and Mishra shows hischaracter with both bat and ball, show he should be in the next test team.

Please give the new players time!
by jay on Jun 24, 2011 04:18 AM  | Hide replies

We have established players in the side. This should be seen as a positive. So if Rahul Dravid scores a 100 and wins the match with the newbies contributing here and there it is still okay. Give some time for the talent to establish itself in the national side. Please dont kill them for a failure or two. Plann the succession carefully for next 1 year and you will see the likes of Vijay and Mukund Blossom and establish their roots. BTW, I am not from Tamil Nadu but have great respect for any talent. There are only a few people in the World who can be successfull from day one. For example it took some grooming for Rahul Dravid and Vengasarkar to establish them selves - look how they served the Country for years because of the investing some faith in them

'It took some time for Dravid and Vengsarkar to establish themselves'? - Check the records. Dravid scored a 95 on debut at Lords in 1996. We should give time to players only if they look promising, but not to everyone. Some players are just not cut out for international cricket, so no point in persisting with them. Too early to write off Vijay and Mukund but dont think Manoj Tewary can succeed in tests.

Vengsarkar did take time establish in tests. Rahul Dravid did take time to establish them selves in One day. It takes time to establish them selves for most players in International arena and talent should be nurtured.

it is great to see tamils all around they r the best. it was krish srikant who showed the world how to bat in first 15 overs. i rate him above sachin and sehwag as the best opening batsman they r all bachas in front of him. the present ideal team should be
Murali Vijay
Mukund(the best opening pair in india rt now)
Dinesh kartick
Badrinath
anirudhh srikant(he is our pride as was his father)
R satish(even sachin respects his skills)
S raina
Dhoni(capt)(since they are loyal to us they can be continued)
