Re: $50000 a game licensing cost is a lot for any country

DRS is being used in England-SL series, they do not have problem. It was used in West Indies-Pakistan series.
What is the problem with India? In England-India series its host team's expense, not BCCI which is sitting over 90% of money in cricket.
If the decisions are to be confirmed by technology, the time may come there will not be any umpires on the field and players making signs to machines to ask what is the result of their appeal?

And what exactly would be the problem caused by that ? I watch cricket to see the players perform, I don't really care about who the umpires are as long as the right decision is made. Do you remember who umpired the world cup final ? Or the last match between India and West Indies ? Umpires are the support cast, so your arguement saying that DRS should not be used because some time in the future umpires may vanish seems a bit flawed
It is nothing but obstinacy on the part of the BCCI. I am only surprised that a normally sensible Dhoni also toes their line. That it is not acceptable since it is not 100% accurate is like saying no to surgery because it doesn't give a garuntee!
If technology has to be used, then there should not be any if & buts, it shoule be 100% accurate. In 75% of decision related to LBW's Hawk eye technology is used to determine the decision and if anyone understand the game and the hawk eye technology can easily understand how flawed it is, and secondly if technology is to be used it should for all the 11 player, every out and not out decision should be reviewed which is next to impossible. Instead of using technology just ensure that umpires on the panel are knowledgeable and impartial.
The game shd be more near to comman man.Everyone shd be able to play the game without gagjets, technology. Tommorow if a local school want to play then where they can get technology? There is always a sense of gap btw international and other cricket tournaments. If DRS is used then game might lose it's charm.

remember what happened to the comman-man's game hockey after introducing astro-turf? No kids are playing hockey in normal grounds.
There is nothing wrong with UDRS. Obviously 100% accuracy cannot be achieved, however with its intelligent use, many incorrect decisions can be corrected. Ponting's century could have been stopped in the world cup against India if we had any DRS left. There are so many instances when the batsman is plumb or there are inside edges given as LBW. In those cases UDRS can certainly help. This is BCCI's stubborn behavior. It always plays double standards. Everyone knows what it said initially for 20-20 cricket, that it is not for India. Once ICL started, what happened to their earlier statement and they had to start IPL? Though there is no place for Ifs and Buts in cricket, however still if Sachin had got out against pakistan in the semifinal which he saved because of DRS, the world cup might have well been somewhere else....

It may be expensive for an individual, but there is hardly any doubt on its performance. So in International matches is not a big amount to consider. Why do we worry is the end result is for the greater good of the game.
