So since URDS can give u perfect / say 99% correct decisions, then why there is a limitation? Why can't we use it for all appeals? Why just TWO per innings??

& also lack of understanding for technology. The two strongest opponents of DRS are MSD & ST who have great cricketing mind but unfortunately are blind on this front. It will be in the interest of the game if MSD concentrate on what he knows best & leave such matters to administrators who are qualified or have the backing of knowledgeable people from this background
Sachin would have got more 100's if DRS was in place. Somany times he was given out wrongly but he humbly returned to pavilion without questioning the umpires. Oz umpires have nipped in bud many of his blossoming innings, which Bradman himself would have liked to watch and appreciate.
if you had an ATM machine that'd work most of the time - say 99% of the time, would you use it for withdrawing cash? No. It is the same with UDRS - the technology makers have themselves said that it is not perfect all the time. Hawkeye fellows say that it is not reliable with more than 2.5 m away from the stumps. We can't use technology until it is 100% perfect, which is it's USP over human intervention.

That's weird. Almost all ATMs we have around here are up only 90% of the time. And when its up, we get cash. If its not, we go to the bank to get money.
I think its just a egoist exercise from BCCI because they control quite a bit of cricket-wealth. If a technology is not accurate 100%, they can definitely invest money in it to get it there. No technology itself is 100%. And DRS by itself isn't a decision maker. The third umpire can use it and then apply his judgement on whether the batsman is out or not.

It's not about and ATM working 90% of the time. It's about ATM's being only 99% accurate....in which case you get a few rupees/dollars less than what you are debited for! I am sure people would go on a fast to have it rectified !!

I agree with you. Now with human umpires themselves are not 100 % correct, so can we remove umpires also?.

i use only atm to withdraw, if it is not working it is a technical fault but that does not means that i will go back to the previous system in which i have to wait in a queue for 1-2 hrs like a fool to get money from my account. and also wait to see those babus working very slowly...

obviously you are out of your mind, comparing Lokpal with DRS.comparing BCCI with congress..DRS is no fool proof and secondly if everything is decided by machines what are umpires for..? depending too much on computers will bring chaos..
a very senior india player who gets benefit from the field umpires due to his clout, is not in favour of the DRS system. this senior player has so much clout over the BCCI that the latter stands by whatever he says/desires.
