INDIAN MIDDLE ORDER MUST IMPROVE S/RATE IN ENGLAND
by damodaran mohan on Jul 13, 2011 01:38 PM

A bird in hand is better than two in the bush, seems to be Dhoni's pragmatism of being satisfied of a series win, even if the decision takes out some sheen out of the series win. Somehow during the entire series the youngish team looked like that Ist rate ward repeatedly disappointing his parents with securing less marks than their expectations. First, it was the one day series where they ended up at 3-2 against an expectations of at least a 4-1 win. Then came the Tests led by the captain cool, where they ended up 1-0 whereas they should have ended up at least 2-0 if not 3-0.The 2nd test slipped away partly due to rain but partly due to very slow and timid batting by the veterans. Perhaps this was the main reason why Dhoni ended the 3rd test pre-maturely when Dravid-Laxman duo were at the crease. Even I feel based on the strike rate witnessed all along, there was no way India could have won the match. However, Dhoni should have allowed play at least 10-12 overs before calling off, simply because that was the only right thing to do. No, there was no danger of India losing. Moral of the story: The middle order must strive for a better strike rate in England.

India chased 400 in the WI with no helmets
by Nikhil Shah on Jul 13, 2011 03:24 AM

Is chasing 186 a certain risky if 400 were chased? The WI tours in the past had much better fast bowling quartets and India did manage to chase it successfully.

It takes confidence, mental preparation and a positive attitude. Though I have always been against spanking teams 3-0 in India, this victory was outside India and our record needs to improve.

When the WI had good teams they would not hesitate to a white wash, which is why the overall record of 12-7 against could have been improved. I am not sure if we can get a chance again to improve this.

pATHETIC, SPINELESS,PITIFUL, THE INDIAN CRICKET TEAM
by Jayant Sethna on Jul 12, 2011 09:27 PM

Complete lack of character. And this is supposed to be the No 1 team in the world.
Dhoni says the wicket was not easy to score on. Excuse me. Some of the best batsmen[?] supposedly , Dravid and Lakshman were on the crease.
What does Dhoni want? A wicket where the Indians can score runs and win.
I am really sorry this is the character displayed by the Indian team. We did not want to lose the series.was the rationale offered. Like somebody else has posted, then don't play. that way you will not lose. Or perhaps play against countries which do not play cricket. Is it Mahendra SINGH Dhoni or should we call you Mahendra KUNWAR Dhoni.
But we will not do that. We do not want to insult the women, you see.
ReaLLY SAD DAY FOR iNDIAN CRICKET.

India draws Third Test

This once again proves that we are full of cowardice and spineless team. Any other team would have gone hammer and tongs against such a weak West Indian team. INDIA CERTAINLY DOES NOT DESERVE THE NUMBER 1 TAG.

Their bowling was not weak, but batting was, which made up somewhat in this test.

Given the nature of the pitch and the kind of umpiring, there was always a chance of ending the match as losers.
