DHONI has slapped all INDIAN cricket lovers on their faces
by Arvind KS on Jul 11, 2011 01:07 PM  | Hide replies

DHONI has slapped all INDIAN cricket lovers on their faces.

Courtsey to lack of competitive cricket standards of world cricket, this mediocre team, who failed to take tailenders on a turning and boucing pitch and then tamely surrendered any potential opportunity to win series by at least 2-0 (if not 3-0), clearly suggest that, DHONI, BCCI and others are palying with the emotions of the people. They have enough in thier kitty, to be at their comfort level.

Its a slap of the faces of all those cricket lvoers, who waste endless time in supporting these larger than life but coward cricketers.

SHAME on DHONI and TEAM INDIA.

India won the test series, that too without Sachin, Sehwag, Gambhir and Zaheer.

whats great in that.
India win series last time also with 1-0 margin when dravid was captain.
Sachin/zaheer was not playing in indian team but gyle/lara playing in WI team.
That was much bigger achievement.
Even ODI series win was bigger as half the indian team not playing including useless dhoni

Dont blame bowlers
by guruji on Jul 11, 2011 12:50 PM  | Hide replies

You can look at the performance of India in the last 20/30 years. Indian bowlers have always performed better outside India (the medium and fast bowlers). It is the batting which has always been a let down. Only after Dravid, Laxman and Ganguly came into the team, the middle order was strengthened which was always dependent on one man Sachin Tendulkar. With Sehwag coming in, we got a more aggressive outlook. Dhoni obviously is a great captain no doubt. But a captain is only as good as a team. Ricky Ponting is a good example of that.

Now all these have come to a nought. Yes chasing 180 on a track like this is difficult. But we are not talking about 250. Average scores today in test cricket hover around 300 at 3.5 an over. So hitting 180 in 47 overs should never have been a problem. They could have kept it to the last ten overs, if they wanted to preserve wickets. But where was the intent? Absolutely no intent. This reflects that this team may be no.1 but it is by luck. It is because the other teams are bad and not that our team is great. We need to get into the realm of greatness now that we are no.1. It is not enough if we perform in a mediocre fashion and remain no.1. There is no charm in that.

Worst part is guys like Virat Kohli, Murali Vijay are not fit for Tests. Mukund showed lot of character but did not perform in the second innings. Guys like Yuvraj, Raina, Kohli need to play in England and Australia in Tests to before they can really be given any sort of advertisement contracts. Unfortunately the media is very short term in its outlook. As short as the T20. No wonder they do not understand what it takes to be a Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman or a Ganguly for that matter.

Sehwag, Gambhir, and Yuvraj were needed
by Johnymera Naam on Jul 11, 2011 12:39 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni did the right thing. India could have won only if Sehwag, Gambhir and Yuvraj were in the team who could blast the opposition away. But with these two useless openers around, there was no point in going for a win. India chased down 387 against England in Chennai in 2008, because Sehwag blasted the England attack away.

india could chase agianst England has sachin scored century in 4th inning also sehwag gave a explosive start.
Weakest link in indian batting is captain fool dhoni- good for nothing.
He is simply master in taking credit of good work by sachin, sehwag, dravid, laxman, zaheer , ishant etc & but himself a piddi batsman & darpok captain

Suppu
First time, I am not happy with Dhoni, because of his decision to sending Dravid instead of Kohli or himself.
Because Dravid can save the match for the country (as he did so many times), but not good for chasing challenging total.
There was nothing in the wickets, but hard to hit boundries, so he should try till the 5th wicket fell...
