We dont hav even one quality bowler whom we can trust
by Rajan S on Jan 22, 2011 01:21 AM  | Hide replies

Leave out the performance of our batsmen in this series. But still we can say that we have a world class batting line up. This is appreciated by all the teams. We dont hav even one quality bowler whom we can trust. Its our below average bowling that is balancing everything out. We cannot trust even one bowler in this bowling attack even if it is zaheer or harbhajan. They may do well sometimes but there is a same chance that they may be taken for plenty from their ten overs. The bowling performance of zaheer and bhajji in this match is enough to explain this. Not only is that, they did not pick up any wickets, but they conceded more than five runs per over also. How can they be called as the spearhead of an attack?

Shut your mouth. If we won 2 in this series it is because of the bowlers. What do you expect - their batsmen will get caught with their pants down everytime in their own backyard?

by sherkhan.1524@rediffmail.com on Jan 22, 2011 01:11 AM

Dhoni's captaincy in the last 15 overs of sa innings was bafflin
by Rajan S on Jan 22, 2011 12:55 AM  | Hide replies

It seemed indians were gifting singles to sa when they could easily have put pressure on them since they did not have too much batsmen left in their ranks. It is all the more important since dhoni know form the prior matches in this series that chasing even a score of 200 is difficult. More than three fourth of sa runs came from singles and still they were comfortably making 5 runs per over. Dhoni's tactics were really baffling to say the least . Indians also doesnt seem to have the ability for taking wickets in the middle overs. This was not something which happened in this series only but its been our bane for the last three to four years. We just dont seem to have the fire power to bowl sides out on a consistent manner. It may happen once in every five or six matches but thats not enough. Though our batting is not clicking in sa, i think the bowling is the main area that could let india down in the coming world cup. We have the ability to chase big totals in the sub continental conditions. But it will be difficult to expect them to do that consistently in the high pressure knock out matches in the world cup

if there is no help assitance with the ball or from the conditions, then it seems that our bowlers cannot get even the no:11 out until he makes a mistake himself

Indian Batting
by Baskar Subramanian on Jan 22, 2011 12:41 AM

It is left one or two batsmen to succeed for India and poor SA lost games on pressure. Dhoni is only lucky, his average may be high in ODIs for which he is playing to retain captaincy. He is not a good batsman who can really dominate. Now for this match he will certainly blame the opening stand. He must see other teams after losing their openers how they adopt and play. As long as Dravid was there for India at one down many a times India survived losing wickets. Sehwag is the only player who is really great and Pathan, Bhaji are real fighters. With great Indian bowling and fielding strength better they go back to Irfan, atleast he would bowl few overs and bats like a champion.

Dhoni NOT the right person to be in the team
by lee on Jan 22, 2011 12:30 AM

Dhoni has wonders with Indian team, but those were really due to players and not due to him. Now he lacks his aggressive batting and captaincy and is completely out of form. Continously this batting line up is failing, just look at the scores - looks like all are tailenders except Kohli. May be a new member might help India to win world cup but with Dhoni it is not.

Hopefully Kohli sees this as a good opportunity to score a century as India is definitely going to lose this match.

Stop Press: Dhoni is giving interview ... he says Indra did not apply himself and play according to plan. Dhoni called for Raina to perform and instead Indra performed Rain

Dhoni is flexible ... bats with the tail when the tail is winning matches for India. Most times, he bats with his tail between the legs
