Gilchrist was right...this is really cattle auction...
by Junior Shelly on Jan 09, 2011 11:23 PM

Terrible to see how human beings were put values and being auctioned-off even without considering whether they are prepared to join a particular club or not. They are being forced to work for their owners just like how it was in the era when slave-trade prevailed.
Adam Gilchrist famously said after the first IPL auction 3 years back that he felt like a cow which has been sold-off at a cattle auction.
In football, the players have agents who make deals for them with the teams of their choice. There is absolutely no choice for the players in IPL. They are just like cattle bought for work. Else, how on earth can Andrew Symonds and Harbhajan Singh, along with Sachin Tendulkar can be part of the same team after all that has happened in the recent past between them, and also to a large extend between BCCI and Cricket Australia??
Shame on IPL..shame on BCCI...shame on you clubs....shame on you money-greedy players.. You have brought disgrace to SPORTS itself.. YOU BURN IN H.E.L.L..!!!!

No doubt its a disrespect, but when it comes to not selecting others like lara and jayasurya also should be taken into account - it's nice that he is retained as the mentor of the KKR and that makes a lot of difference, just like Kumble as the mentor for RCB and not actively participating in the event...

SORRY DADA
by saaa k on Jan 09, 2011 10:28 PM  | Hide replies

Now is the time u should retire from all form of cricket and please don't show ur sad face on any news channels.Ur comments are so demoralizing and attitude so sick that even few advertisers like chavanprash wallas would love to cast chandu instead of u next time.SRK has alredy burnt his finger once.We all saw ur best on field but thats history and its same for dravid, kumble duo.Every franchisies ,every coach now hates u.U play sick ,and talk more sicker.Remain in ur home and watch the matches when the likes of shewags,Tendulkar and dravids helped u win matches and u danced in
front of the rising short pitched delivery.U are no Kapil or Gavaskar and people hate to read ur sick views in the sports page. There are numerous good playing grounds other than Eden and SRK/IPL knows it very all.Now cry all BONGS....cry.

its really sad to see that people lyk u exists in india where we are fighting among ourselves to prove individual superiority rather than thinking of collective superiority.its the team who performs and not any individual.i am a bong and i am proud to be so but prouder to say that i am an indian and even more prouder to say that i am a human being.u can watch ranji and not ipl if u cant develop these sensibilities. i know a friend from punjab who is a bigger fan of sourav than me or probably any other bongs and i am sure he must be crying today.my heart goes out for him more than sourav.i wont talk of any stats but first u be an indian then be loyal to ur state and hate any other state.my state government has given me a lot least to say i am studying engg for rs 200 a month but still i would stand for my country first then my state.for people lyk u a million state will not be enough to make an india one day.this is a game and let be it so and dont try to make it a war.

Ganguly not sold!!
by Pradeep Shinde on Jan 09, 2011 10:25 PM  | Hide replies

This is an utter insult that ganguly was auctioned twice but not bought by anybody. He has been shown his true worth unfortunately all bengali brahmins are barking like stray dogs and biting each other in anger. They are portraying as if bengal is the home of only bengali brahmins and others do not exist. This is a cycle and every body has a role in the due cycle. Ganguly's role is finished as a player he should now embrace a role of a mentor to whosoever team.
