and without SG - SRK has to do some real wonders to bring in any support from Kolkata, forget the crowd in the stadium - remember the one day being played between SA and India at Eden - where the entire stadium was supporting SA and India was thrashed under guru greg - just because SG was given a raw deal..sometimnes it makes sense to do some business deals for long time benefits - alas the consultants to SRK is yet to learn that

here u go again with senseless comment....what is ur definition of "MOST" in 'most of matches are away from Eden'....as far as IPL schedule goes it wud be 7 home matches and 7 away... tht means 7 matches at eden gardens unless they manage to convince BCCI about barabati stadium to be alloted couple of matches....

No such treatment for other games-Why?
by Gulzara Azad on Jan 10, 2011 06:01 AM

Is sport only about Cricket?I think while we should encourage Imnternational events or Cricket, we need to provide Level Palying Filed for all other sports as well.
Why can we not doi this for Football,Basket Ball,Hockey etc as well.
Can Mr. M S Gill come up with an innovation in this regard?
Thanks.
G S Azad.

IPL Tamasha!
by Cricket Fanatic on Jan 10, 2011 02:38 AM  | Hide replies

It's no longer Indian Premier League, it has become Australian Tamasha League. Most of the teams have Aussie think tank and it's no wonder all little known Aussie players are bought by the Franchises. Australia is the 5th best team now and everybody knows how good (bad) is their bench strength now! It's nepoticism at it's worst! All the IPL owners are now licking the balls of the Australians!
Mallya kicked away all local players from RCB. Decan kicked away all Hederabadi Players! RCB didn't even bother to buy any Indian players (except Rahul). Sahruk ensured that there is no Bengali players in KKR. People of Bangalore, Hederabad and Kolkata must teach the local franchises a lesson by completely boycotting the respective teams.

One correction! It's RR (Rajasthan Royals, not RCB) didn't even bother to buy any Indian players except Rahul)

by vinay on Jan 10, 2011 02:04 AM

all foreign cktrs r hyped.
all those kp, flintof, etc. were highly paid in earlier version of ipl, but those inconsistent players failed to show their worth.

imstead, ind rookies like tiwari, rahane, etc. r much better than those hyped gayle, kp, jaysurya, etc.

he is treated as uncappe player and most probably will be retained by Mumbain Indians. Uncapped players have a 30 lakh pa cap which means he will paid a maximum of 90 lakhs for three year period, which can account to approx $200,000...very cheap as compare to Sourabh tiwary who went for $1.6 million (he was the team, except he played for india)

Good point. I am surprised. To some extent I agree, there is some others (former australian players!) are making the calls. Gayle not considered is ridiculous! Anyway the franchises have to the pay the cost if they make mistakes.
