In the olden days, selectors were called a bunch of jokers for the kind of decisions they took. At least in that case they had some knowledge about cricket since they were ex cricketers. But looking at the current auction on IPL, we now have a corporate bunch of jokers...who know nothing about cricket. Its not surprising that most of them are affiliated to some state cricket association or the other and meddle in the cricket administration of the country. If the non selection of Ganguly over players like Laxman and Dravid was shocking, not picking Gayle, Boucher, Jayasuria etc was laughable....Is the IPL only a tool of money making for the corporate sponsors or is there anything in it to salvage for Indian cricket??????

You are right Chintu..These are a bunch of jokers only..who dont know anything abt cricket. For them cricket is hitting six and whoever does it, he wil be picked. Busineess is the ultimate goal for the franchises and they dont look anything beyond that.

Why fans don't understand that it is business. Even players are aware about it. If they don't want to be get insulted why are they going in auction.

Absolutely. Ganguly is retired and only he knows how fit he is. Gayle was not selcted coz he will be busy this year playing England, hence English players were not selected as well. Sanath is already old and doubt if he can play for 2 years. Plus it is business. The owners need to make monay and they will be fully responsible for success or failures!
KKR is the only team in the 3 IPL seasons that did not reach even the semifinals even once. Ganguly was the captain/player for 3 ipl seasons. KKR has full right to start over. If ganguly was worth $400k for the next three years---some team would have brought him. Obviously he is not worth $400K. So ganguly has only to blame himself - a) for the worst team record in the IPL and b) for raising his base price from $200k to $400k for the auction.
Re: Ganguly has had his chance..Now KKR fans must move on

RA:
Worst is not Ganguly..Its ppl like u who consider that IPL is the bible of cricket. FYI..Ganguly scored more than 400 runs in IPL3 and has a good record as per your crap analysis. If others dont play, how can he be responsible? Insulting a legendary player like this is a shame on the franchises.
If Ganguly is feeling humiliated he should blame himself for that. He should have followed his co player in tests Anil Kumble who knew that he might be sidelined in auction therefore he withdrew. Now he is not only has respect but also a good position as administrator. Ganguly should take up positions in Bengal Cricket to bring more youth to Cricket than still greedy about money and fame by opting for IPL. I am happy that unlike Indian selectors franchisees were more careful in selecting players for their team ignoring their record and considering only their usefulness.

Kumble would have not been sidelined had he been in auction, Kumble won so many matches last year for RCB, he is a good captain unlike dada who lost matches for KKR, he even had a fight with Mcullum. Dada was left out because of his super ego and that he is not a capeable batsman anymore

its more of business and personal rivalries rather than cricket...many teams have australian coaches who wont want to take saurav..its not to do with game anyways

will you come off your conspiracy theories when it is proved beyond doubt that dada has been a big failure!!

Humiliation to one of the best captains of team India....if not KKR, any other franchise could have had him..he is anytime better than dravid and laxman in t20...this looks like a planned drama..shame KKR

by Roshni Dev on Jan 10, 2011 10:23 AM
there are players who are either older than him or his age...rahul dravid is better u mean to say ? and anyways its not only about a player and his ability..it is coming out to be a murky rift between SRK and saurav...and being Indian it is sad to see a deliberate insult to one of our finest captains

But it is not just KKR that snubbed him ... any of the other teams could have selected him, right? It was also surprising that none of the teams selected Gayle

Dravid is better than Gangully in all counts. See his records. Why Dravid preferred is he still plays for India in Tests whereas Ganguly is not. But I still feel Dravid's sale is a joke considering his style, age and form.

dada for you information has been a poor performer thru out. He survived on his team players performance and some mentor backing. Please dont compare him with Dravid or Laxman. He is one notch below (if not two)as a cricketer. Records speak for themselves. In 3 consecutive IPLs he has not even once taken KKR to the semis.Shame!!India is now number one in world test cricket and that has happened because of dada's exit. Team is flourishing under Dhoni and dada's colleagues Tendulkar Dravid and Laxman are playing. Its a pity dada has started a show channel now after retirement. No Franchisees are interested in jokers like dada.

Well if Gangula , had not raised his price from $200k to $400k at the last minute...maybe some team would have picked him. He hurt his chances himself.

These legends have had enough of fame and money both .Dravid doesnt even fit in today in the 50over format so what is making him pay in the 20-20 ? He was lucky to get bicked this time around. This T20 Biz is not cricket anymore but pure business so given form and performance is the only criteria
Re: Bad blood

dada cant get along with people. He is a poor team player. All players talk about the dressing room atmosphere now which is much more relaxed and jovial compared when dada was playing.First it was Greg Chappel then it was Buchanan and now Sharukh who are working against dada!! Come off it and move on. KKR will now get more supporters including me. And now KKR will definitely be in the semis on the 4th attempt after dada's exit in the same way India has become Number one in test cricket. Mark my words please.

The only chance for ganguly to play in the ipl is only if he is picked by KKR and once they did not retain him Srk should have conveyed to Ganguly that they wont pick him in the auction and should have made a deal by asking him to be in the management and guide the team.Had that been done this embarassment could have been avoided. Now SRK speaking about playing without ganguly is real eye wash...I feel Kumble would have been conveyed about his not being picked up in the team by mallaya and it was wise on h is part to stay away from IPL and i think Saurav should have followed Kumble once he was not retained by KKR before the auction

ur rt...instead of follown kumbles path.....he even raised his base price which is more idiotic......ganguly himself done this humiliation
Re: Re: Message to Ganguly
by R A on Jan 10, 2011 10:02 AM
Agreed...Why raise your price to 400k ....Maybe this indicates an ego and an inflated sense of importance by ganguly. Kumble - being more sensible, withdrew.

ok may be.ur rt..but kumble realised tht he cant keep playin for more 3 yrs..so he widrew..unlike dada selfish and ego player

member of bengal cricket is different than heading the association. It is likely that Kumble realized that it would be very tough to keep your feet on 2 boats.
The IPL shelf life is limited when compared to the Administrator shelf life
