Sourav Ganguly is THE CAPTAIN who led and taught the Indian team how to win and assert its proud.Prior to him, all one skipper thought was about saving the match by drawing it.may be he has been going through a lean patch, so does every one in ones career. He is a pioneering Captain IPL or np IPL.

God only understands Mallya's and Kumble's strategy!?
by r subramani on Jan 10, 2011 01:49 PM  | Hide replies

I am form B'lore, I love and proud to say that Rahul Dravid is one of the greatest of cricketers and cricket is lucky to get such a player. When Mallya said strategy was 'building a young team', do you consider Vettori, van der wath. Charl Langeveldt etc are young players? And they have really made a big mistake by not bidding for Robin Uthappa. If you notice, he was a huge improvement in IPL3, and a monstrous hitter. They have bought Charl Langeveldt and Cheteshwara Pujara(T20 specialist!) instead of Dravid and Uthappa! As a Bangalorean, I feel really cheated by Mr. Mallya(If Business is the reason, then ask him to take Bangalore out from his team name). No Match winners like Steyn,Ross Taylor! I was surprised he didn't even bid for Kevin Peitersen! God save RCB. I can only wish All the best for his Business. You have broken lot of Fans feelings, Mr. Mallya

not really sure if the business man would have paid him that much..as most seniors were snubbed. moreover, sachin's past T20 record has nt been impressive either. he may have ended with most runs..however, in this format its the strike rates , game chargers are more valued - hence you find a pathan, uthappa raking in the moolah.

It is a MAD world.
by kumar kn on Jan 10, 2011 12:38 PM  | Hide replies

The IPL owners will not deserve any sympathy if they are in financial trouble.Mallya has heaped the greatest insult by not picking local hero Rahul and Shah Rakh Khan by not picking Prince of Kolkatta Ganguly. Both of them have a lot of cricketleft in them and are any day better than many of the young guns the owners have picked.Sad to see people like Ganguly, Gayle and Jaisurya miss out. They were feared by all teams. It is all about Money and reputations and gratitude don't seem to matter.Welcome to the new world of Cricket Tamasha!

IPL has become a gamble and place for making business and earn money. Sports has to played in good spirit(especially cricket is called Gentleman's game:)). But advent of IPL is making the scenario of sports in India worse. It breeds enmity and makes sporting scenario as a battling ground..

Dravid is not a t20 player.
Ganguly is not a player for any class now (only he thinks he can play, nobody else).
Why should IPL opwners retain them?
They are making business not doing charities.

So nothing wrong with them.
It is better for Ganguly to learn from Kumble and try his luck off the ground (If any IPL owner like his services, because everybody knows he is a rude personality).

u need to understand that cricket is a physical game, and it needs young bodies to jump dive and run that extra mile. whatever you may feel..seniors need to move.look at ntini what a grand send off he received. sadly our over obsession with seniors make them play unnecessarily.whereas they can only make obscene records and not really contribute to victories.

There were 10 puechasers of more than 300 cricket players. All the 10 purchased their choicest players as per their pocket. Other than the purchasers none else has the right to order that you have to purchase my candidate or our state favorite.

Dravid was not a favourable person of his state's RCB but was interested by sosmebody else and hence he got a chance.

Ganguly was not a favourable person by KKR or anoy of the others, so he remain unsold. The final decider will be the purchaser, who is spending money.

HENCE, WHY PEOPLE IS SHOUTING AND MURMURING. WHAT IS THE GRATNESS IN GANGULY, REALLY NOTHING. If the team is good they will will, Captain will get credit, like Dohni, Ganguly, etc..

T20 Win
by SUBROTO RAY on Jan 10, 2011 11:38 AM

India's win against South Africa in T20 is a welcome event. It showed how motivated these players were from their body languages after the IPL auction. Who says money is not a motivator (in a lighter vein).

has to associated with kkr, dravid has not been picked up by banglore and most of the players like dhoni, gambhir, zaheer, yuvraaj, bajji and infact almost everyone except sachin and sehwag players are players are playing for other teams than their home states, why srk has to be blamed alone why not other 9 teams too.kkr lost badly 3 terms they have to see their best interest.please do not bring religion here and srk, just talk about cricket,do nba or nfl do not the same rules.

Uncapped players' rules???
by Indian Saint on Jan 10, 2011 11:20 AM

The IPL rules for the uncapped players are very confusing. There are about 20-25 good 'uncapped' players.

Chennai is easily the best team
by Indian Saint on Jan 10, 2011 11:14 AM

All their picks are excellent:
One bad pick: Scott Styris
One failure: Abhimanyu Mithun- They bid but eventually let him go off cheaply to Bangalore- Mithun can also bat a bit. Chennai likes such players

RR is the worst team on paper. They have legal troubles raising money. The court shoukd allow them to sell out. Otherwise it will impact players' morale also

RR will be stingy on money- so impact will be there on hotels, training, travel etc. It is like working for a second grade company for the RR players- really sad
