LashkariaGroup A
Crack with openers
by LashkariaGroup A on Jan 06, 2011 01:15 PM

Send Bhajji with Sehwag to open innings
if they manage
For 30 Overs @ 5 runs/over=150 runs,after them
for next 30 Overs @ 3 runs/over=105 runs &
for next 30 Overs @ 2.84/over=85 runs
Pretty much doable if they are positive. May ALLAH Help Indian Team to do a miracle.

Tactics are important for the chase
by Common Sense on Jan 06, 2011 01:07 PM

1. Don't send Sehwag to open. Send Dravid with Gambhir to see off the new ball. Sehwag can come to bat after 20 overs if wicket falls.

2. KEEP WICKETS IN HAND for first 60 overs. 180/2 after 60 overs is ideal. Don't try to be over attacking, play each ball on its merit.

3. Go for kill in last 30 overs. 160 in 30 overs with 8 wickets in hand is not impossible.

4. If wickets fall in last 30 overs we can settle for a draw. Less overs to defend. Also we can appeal for bad light.

Attacking mindset
by Bada Bhai on Jan 06, 2011 01:06 PM

Friends I feel win and loss are actually in your mindset..if you go with a defensive mindset..you are bound to loose..India should behave like an aggressive no.1 team..attacking mindset from the begining..but from their post-seesion interviews yesterday they appear to be in a defensive mode..they have been over-awed by Kallis's century.there have been occasions where Australia and SA in past have chased down the target of 300plus on the 5th day...it is all about how you approach..agreed it was a bad day yesterday for India..but do not give up before actually you have faced...so the best one can do it is go and attack and do not mind abou the consequence...try your best, leave the rest..no point crying over the past...by having an attacking mindset at least an enforce a draw

340 is too bigger task with go for kill approach from start. We will invite a loss if we do that. Pitch is misbehaving already, we don't want our batsmen additionally misbehave and commit suicide. Keeping wickets in hand is the key.

lets put this way...we have 540 ball max..now
1st case...if sehwag can bat 100 balls..india wins the game for sure..
2)if dravid or laxman bats for 100 ball match is a draw...
3)all others except the above three will contribute to lossing coz...mind u ...u cant find a grtr srt fan then me....still i beleive in stats and it shows..srt isnt 4th inning player...

There are only two options
by King Kahn on Jan 06, 2011 12:38 PM  | Hide replies

India will either draw the match OR lose the match. There is no way they'll win this match.

The odds of losing are higher considering the form of SA bowlers and the fact that Indian batsmen will be in a defensive mindset (trying to draw the match).

statistics are OK to an extent. The more important thing to consider is form. Every ball from SA pacers has been a wicket taking ball. The required run rate is close to 4. No way Indian batsmen could score so briskly. Their best bet is to dig in and draw the match. I'd consider that a win.

pitches in S.A ..dettorate means dosent crack like india....inconsistent bounce on rare ocassion is the problem to worry..and then u have advantage of pitch loosing its pace and bounce....S.a dosent have a quality spinner to take advantage of rough footmarks..........but then if india is the batting superpower they are fav to go for the kill..mind u smith wasnt sure what he was going for till the last session started...this shows the mind set of the opposition....

Patient Batting
by sanket sangawar on Jan 06, 2011 12:30 PM

Winning the match is next to impossible, coz scoring 340 on a 5th Day pitch and against a potent SA attack isnt a joke..i guess dis wud hv been difficult evn against a Bangladesh attack on a 5th day pitch...SEhwag holds da key bt i am not sure hw mch he wll be able to score as every ball will do some mischief and will require respect and concentration...so Hope SEwy has some luck 2day...nd gives India a firy strt. Only Tendulkar and Laxman can handle the SA attack, lukin @ current form of other players..with Gambhir injured..

India's chances are remote!
by dilip dengle on Jan 06, 2011 12:29 PM

Its difficult to score 340 on last day here.Especially when "steyn Gun" is there.Hence.India's chances of winning is remote.
India will remain at no.1 position even if it looses. But India should try for a successful draw.

Time has come, Justify No. 1 Test Renking
by Rajesh Gupta on Jan 06, 2011 12:22 PM

Its time for India to show the world, why they are no. 1.
They are not on the top just by luck or playing in their home grounds or played with low teams.
They have to show that they can beat No. 2 side on their home ground against the world class fast ballers.

Not easy, but everything is possible in Cricket and with Indian Team.
