his 4th Innings magic and if Sachin can score a century like Kallis - This game is won. This is win or loose - winner takes all game. Draw unlikely.

What a nice bunch of Indians on this forum,..
by Unfriendly on Jan 06, 2011 10:03 AM  | Hide replies

There seem to be a nice bunch of Indians on this forum. Not a single person has even desired the Indian team to win. All the comments are for the Indian team to lose. What great patriots on this forum. It seems that the patriotism of the ministers in India has rubbed off on the people here. I want the Indian team to win at any cost today or draw the match. I don't want the Indian team to lose the match today so that you "patriotic" Indians get a tight slap on your faces. Go, Indian team, go. Even if the whole of India is against you, there is one Indian here who will support you no matter what. God bless the team!!

No chance of winning today.
by S VENKATESH on Jan 06, 2011 10:02 AM

First try to save the match. Then start thinking about winning the matches.

Stop Idiot thinking of playing 4 regular bowlers in a test match. Then only we can win the match. We do not have strong bowling attack like South Africans to play 4 regular bowlers.

Fourth innings chases at Cape Town
by gkr on Jan 06, 2011 10:00 AM  | Hide replies

340 seems to be a huge total to chase up in a single day, that too on the 5th and final day.Herculian task.A draw can be expected, provided the top guns of the team stay, apply themselves and fire to keep the score board ticking. Let one or two fire work batsmen like Sehwag and Dhoni take charge and start firing and attack right from the word go, if wants to chase and win to write the history.Let rest do stick on to the wicket. Batting order to be changed and let Harbhajan singh come in , if Sehwag falls sothat he can attack with his non-text book shots to keep the pace of run chase, but a herculian task to achieve.

Incase, if it is found not possible in the middle of the day, better to APPLY BRAKE AND KEEP THE WICKETS INTACT AND TAKE SHIP TO SAFETY.
BUT IT IS FOR SURE A SCINTILATTING BOWLING FROM STEYN AND CO. WILL BE ABLE TO SEE AND FIRE WORK FROM SHEWAG IN COUNTERING THE BOWLING ATTACK!!!

INDIA let the advantage slip away on two occasions in this test
by Arvind KS on Jan 06, 2011 09:55 AM  | Hide replies

First, when they won the toss on a fresh pitch and overcast conditons. Their highly fmaed bowlers did not know where to pitch the ball and that allowed SA to get a respectful 380, surely knock from Kallis has to be acknowledged, but he never recevied a ball that could have been threatening.

Second, in second innings when SA was reeling at 90 for 5 and then at 130 for 6, again DHONI could not control the pace of the game and let the bolwers bowl pathetically despite having a so called "THINK TANK" and bowling experts sitting along with Kirsten.

The result, INDIAN team fighting to save the game. Saving the game will be a great achievement in the given set of circumstances. BUT GIVEN SEHWAG's ETERNAL failure to score BIG in fourth innings and inability of INdian aging great palyers, its next to impossible for them to win this match from hereon.

Take home message, the series that could ahve been will wither be drawn or be lost, with three individual perforers from SA, namely Kallis, Steyan and Amla.

Cheers, we are still SHERKHAN @ home. We are for that matter of fact still world number 1, despite we struggled to take last 2-3 wiickets on wearing pitch of capetwon on 4th day.

I must say that this was the best analysis of the game I have come across on this forum. Otherwise you will see bogus and useless comments by people and mostly misused.

Surely India with this performance may not remain world number one for long, with England, SA and probably a resurgent Aussies may come up in next year or so.

Dhoni is good but not the greatest of thinkers of the game as a captain is proved once again.

Dhoni needs to toughen up. Ishant, Sreesanth and Zaheer were bowling bulls**t in such good bowling conditions. He should have reprimanded them.

Exactly. Indian bowling was absolutely pathetic in this test. South Africa deserve to win this test. They have been way better with their bowling and batting.

Even though you did touch some valid points I should say that it is much easier to comment after the event than during or before. No one thought Kallis who is injured would play such a gem of an inning by motivating tail enders. Sadly it is time and again proved that our pace bowlers have failed on several occasions to finish the tail in the past as none of them has fury in their bowling. Bowling at 135 kph or less can not be called as aggressive bowling. Dhoni has used his limited weapons to the best possible way. Injuries to players like Sehwag who is handy in spinning the ball has also curtailed Dhoni's strength. Think tank will not be effective in circumstances where bowlers fail to extract advantage by their mindless bowling. Bowlers such as Sreeshanth and Ishanth Sharma hardly use brain while bowling and most of the time they get wickets by mistakes of opposite batsmen.

Let us face the reality than doing postmortem. India has uphill task to save the Test if Sehwag fails again and Gambhir does not bat in II inning.

perhaps we can set another record
by prabu nitin on Jan 06, 2011 09:55 AM  | Hide replies

without scoring more runs and keep on saving wickets and in the end.. we can end with 90/2... or 80/4... like that:
Sehwag 52(45 Balls)
Gambhir 3 (2 Balls)
Dravid 7 (280 Balls)
Tendulkar 0(11 Balls)
Laxman 5 (280 balls)

NEWS : Dravid and Laxman made world record partnership.....

Dravid could not score when there was no pressure and today we face tremendous pressure from fast bowlers of SA. He may not score above 5. It is better to send Pujara in place of Dravid as No.3 as it is do or die for the young man to prove his last opportunity on foreign soil.
