India should play the match keeping in mind that match should become result & not draw, for that they should rise their run rate at least 4 to 4.5 per over. Then only the match will come for the result otherwise match will become draw, though both teams have world class bowling & batting.
Re: Re: Match should be decided
by ANIL SINGH on Jan 04, 2011 12:22 PM
this is test cricket. if india scores 400 more runs in 120 overs thats is by lunch tomr. they will have lead of 180 and can force the win. days 3 will be good for batting and day 4 and 5 are worst. that should be the way. run rate of 3 is good for india instead of slogging and getting out conceding lead to SA. You need some basic lessons on test cricket

Thtas right, earlier it was Austalian lobby that made sure Australia never lost a series.
So whoever is the ICC chairman that country won't lose a series.

What is this? Simon Taufel does it again for Tendulkar. He and Umpire Davis have vowed not to give LBW to Indian batsmen.
25.4 Harris to Tendulkar, no run, 81.1 kph, Loud shout for lbw but Taufel turns it down. It landed on a length on the middle and leg and skidded towards the leg stump. Tendulkar went back after pressing forward initially and tried to work it to square-leg but missed it. The ball hit the pad on the knee roll and hawk eye says it would have clipped the outer half of the leg stump.

Hey, comeon...my first impression was it missing leg.to the naked eye.. It is 50/50..Remember replays are 100% conclusive...it will never take it in to account the variation in drift which spinners have esp Harris ...it is a fair call. There is a limit to finding fault...

52.5 Sreesanth to Kallis, no run, 129.6 kph, Shout for lbw It landed on a good length on the off and middle and seamed in towards the leg stump. Kallis was on the shuffle and struck on the pad. The appeal isn't too ferocious. Taufel says no. Hawk eye suggests it would have hit the top of the leg stump.

completely agree with you. however there is anti-sachin lobby which keeps criticising him. if he scores then he does that for personal records. if he doesn't then he doesn't perform in pressure situation. all based on zero facts.

may be wilting under pressure. it was three catches. two for gambhir and one for tendulkar which was not even attempted.
I am just re posting some stats of Centuries from Indian batsman in pitches outside subcontinent for winning cause, these are slaps on the face of jealous morons like Mooshik Thooshik :)

lol. selective stats. I can easily remember Laxman once against aus in aus and now against SA - almost a ton. And against far better attack on a minefield of a wicket. Buddy you cant hide behind stats. Sachin chokes and it is sad but true. I would like to see him stand up and show grits in such conditions before he retires.

ONE THING WE MUST UNDERSTAND GUYS IS THAT SACHIN IS COMPLETE CRICKETER. WHAT ABOUT ODI'S WHERE IS LAXMAN? CURRENTLY NO DOUBT THAT LAXMAN IS SUPERIOR TO TEND. IN TEST MATCHES.BUT SACHIN IS STILL "THE BEST".

Just an FYI .. in last 10 years Tendulkar has got got MOM only 2 times when India won outside India. And one of these were against Bangladesh.

Akshat Saxena:
Ritik said that Sachin has scored 3 centuries in a winning cause on non-sub continent pitches... which is still the highest by an Indian standard.. So how could he get dozens of MOM's as expected by YOU? ;-)
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Sachin the real star
by Akshat Saxena on Jan 04, 2011 08:20 PM
@AP - That's is the difference, apparently getting century is more important than winning. Usually MOM is given to a player from winning Team. Players like Laxman, Dravid, Zaheer have got more MOM awards (outside India) then Sachin as they have helped India win. Match is won by taking 20 wickets not scoring centuries. Sachin is a great player but he does chokes in pressure situation. The way he handled Mumbai Indians in IPL is classic example.

@AP - You need to decide buddy what do you want to say. I thought the discussion was on Sachin's ability to handle pressure situation. Also talking about errors, I am really not sure what errors you are talking about. If you need a list of MOM awards won by Indian player in matches outside India in last 10 years, I am more than willing to provide you with all the details or check it from cricketinfo.

Tendulkar has total 28 hundreds out of India. 5 in Bdesh, 5 in SL and 1 in Pak. So 17 out of the subcontinent.
Gavaskar has total 18 hundreds out of India. 3 in Pak means 15 out of subcontinent.
The wins supposedly are in the parenthesis...
I have no idea what the his numbers are about.....

by NashikMarathi on Jan 04, 2011 07:42 AM
I thought the number in the parenthesis are the ones that resulted in wins. I am pretty sure that the first number is total tons outside subcontinent.
Is he talking second innings only? Do SRT and Drav have 20 and 12 centuries in second innings overseas? I doubt it. Those are total hundreds overseas. Sachin has 28 centuries out of India of which 5 versus Bangles, 5 SL and 1 Pak that means he is at 17 centuries outside subcontinent. Gavaskar has 18 hundreds out of India with 3 in Pakistan. That is 15 hundreds out of subcontinent.
Weird numbers and I am not discussing this any furthur.
Re: Sachin the real star
by siva on Jan 04, 2011 04:00 AM
So - sachin's successful winning rate is 3/20 (15%) - which is approx. one out of 6.2. Whereas Dravid and Laxman (1 out of 6). So, still Dravid and Laxman have a better rate of getting successful winnings than Tendulkar.
Re: Re: Sachin the real star
by Varun on Jan 04, 2011 10:39 AM
Abe that is faulty stats. Pick up the high scores and not hundreds alone. Rahul scoring 64 againt australia in second innings with laxman 32 and taking india to a win against australia in australia. Far more valuable than any hundred. Fanboys innovatively find ways to show their master as god. Nothing else. And psue dumbo jumped into it as he loves the same superstar regardless of the pretense of being smart.

If India play at runrate 2.50 per over(considering SA wasted 1.5 days) match will be drawn. Everyone should try to contribute at 4.00/over so that our stupid bowlers have enough time to bowl them out and team india can have little target to win.
Re: India needs to score briskly
by ANIL SINGH on Jan 04, 2011 06:47 AM
Kallis was doing it that was fine. If India can bat 1.5 day more and score about 400 more runs they are in real chance of winning. Which means by scoring 400 and about another 120 over should be good enough. It is not odi or 20-20. 4-5th day pitch would be difficult to bat on. India must ensore that they bat out 3rd day this will make things really hard for SA.
Its time sreeshant, ishant including Tendya etc stop looking at heavens everytime a wicket is taken or half century, century is made. When someone is on the field there should be no scope for sentiment, divine etc. just performance matters.
Re: Ishant,sreeshant

They do that because they rarely take wickets like they have been doing now. Looks like they have found some form. Hope they stay competitve and keep looking up at the sky. As long they win who cares what emotions they show.

Re: It was just a badluck of Dravid
by India on Jan 04, 2011 06:13 AM
What bad luck? Dravid should be dropped after this test. He has become totally redundant of late. He simply has lost all confidence in himself and gets run out because of that. He is not the WALL he used to be. Unless he is confident of batting why should he be in the team? He should atleast give his placce for some youngster who really enjoys playing test cricket.
Re: It was just a badluck of Dravid
by Jairam Amrith on Jan 04, 2011 07:11 AM
Yes, Dravid is past his "use-by" date (as Ian Chappell said about Ponting). His technique has become clumsy--- reaching out for the ball all the time whether in defence or attack and either hitting the ball straight to the fieldsmen or getting out. He has been a marvellous player but all good things must come to an end.
