Why so much fuss
by LG on Feb 26, 2011 12:55 PM

different people react differently to when frustration that creeps in.

if a person chose wrong means to vent it, that person has to bear the consequences like fine etc., and matter should end there only. Ponting' case is no different.

There is a saying in Tamil that talented and skillful people will always have bit of ego and arrogance. Aussie team by and large display the same and we all have seen this in different fields in the past.

Salute the aussies 30 match continuous winning streak in world cup and 3 cup wins in a row. I can't imagine the kind of fuss and reaction in India had we won once in last 10-15 years. Ever since i was born we talk about 1983 win only, tired.
Let we beat the Aussie team this time around and then talk

Ponting Is Really Great
by MeetFireWithFire on Feb 25, 2011 12:12 PM  | Hide replies

Be it the racial slur against Bhajji or take it to the bump ball claim. Ponting has it all.

He is all powerful on the cricket field where he is so potent that he could raise his finger.

His off-field antics (new Box-TV incident) get him to attain salvation and he is already a DEMI-GOD.

Here is one man who takes pride on the world cup record. In fact Aussies are known for their “Win At All Cost”. With combined effort of Black Racist Bucknor, drugs and sledging they were world beaters till 2007.

Ponting is still in his illusion that he is a world beater that he could beat anything including the TV set and could claim later that TV set is not hit by him. But instead it is only the Physics laws (gravity, momentum, acceleration, etc…) which damaged the TV set that it could not function any more.

ICC on their part very rarely even reprimands an Aus/Eng cricketer. But Asians would be banned. Why only Asians cross the line-of-control in the minds of ICC??

The box and Ricky

Hey mate, boxes have eyes, hands and legs down under. First the box looks at television, then walks upto television and smashes the television. Ricky, your mind is rotten like your batting. Loser..

Hope we can stop this discussion now
by Parth Mehta on Feb 25, 2011 07:28 AM

From last few days, our news channels are discussing this incident like it is of national importance. They are calling cricket experts and debating this on national news channels. It is highly irritating and immature. Agreed, that it should not have happened but then only one side of the story came out and our news channels went ga-ga over it. Now, Ponting has represented his side and he is claiming that he did not smash the TV. There is no way to prove who is speaking the truth so ICC should have fined Ponting a certain percentage of his match fees and since Ponting has publicly apologized, the matter should be closed. But our garbage news channels are keeping it alive by making it a national issue.

Petulant Ponting at it again! The man has no class or dignity. He is supposed to represent the face of Australia and obviously doing a bad job of it.He forever questions umpires, argues with opponents about fairplay and is generally rude yet never gets ticked off by ICC. Why is this man more equal than others? Readers may recall Ponting groping a female journalist in Kolkata years ago and also being dumped outside a night club in Sydney's Kings Cross with a blackened eye a few years later! He may be a great batsman but his image as a leader of the Australian team is pathetic! A man like Mike Hussey lends a lot of dignity to this Australian team where many like Johnson,Siddle,Watson,Haddin & Bollinger lack good grace and sportsman spirit! These players reflect Ponting.

Forefathers of these australians are those criminals whom England wanted to throw out of their country for their anti-social nature. What more can we expect them?

Dilip Mahanty:

No one can support Ponting on the incidents of the nature in Kolkata and King's Cross that you mentioned above. 100% agreed.

But what's that got to do with the present discussion? Where's the "more equal than others"? Yuvi, Rohit and co. were also partying during Champions Trophy, but it's neither here nor there in present World Cup.

On that note, Harbhajan, Sreesanth and Yuvi reflect no more on Dhoni than the long list you've mentioned reflecting Ponting... Agree?
