When it's Sachin, it's different
by Messaging Only on Feb 20, 2011 08:50 PM  | Hide replies

The Indian media and its experts always has a tendancy of biased reporting on Sachin. Running happens through mutual consent, so whatever happened Sachin's fault cannot be washed off completely.
It is a trend that whenever Sachin is out experts term that as unplayable delivery, if he is run out the fault is always on the partner. It is a fact that Sachin leads the Indian team in terms of run-outs. Had it been Saurav instead of Sachin, everyone would have turned 180 deg and put the blame entirely on Ganguly without going into much research. We Indians cannot get rid of corruption, biasness or blind hero-worship.

Please read the message carefully before starting to open your mouth. I did not utter a word against Sachin and I fully appreciate what he has done. My saying was against the biased media who tries to elevate Sachin into a superhuman figure and thus tries to self-appoint themselves as his defender. If the run-out would have been any other guy, how much time would rediff spent on the news or trying to justify that it was Sehwag's fault all the way? Sehwag was watching the ball and so was Sachin but it is showcased as if Shwag has done something criminal.

common man, you are simply speaking out of an inferiority complex and being unable to face the reality and this world. you feel yourself indadequate in this world and are fearful of everything. in sachin you think you have found an anchor to hold on to. and that is why you want to let go of it and want to keep clinging to it.

you dont want to let go of your anchor as you feel you will drown in the cruel sea of reality and so you are desperately trying to cling on something that you want to believe is reality.

That shows ur lack of knowledge about the game or else u didnt see the match. It was clearly Sachin's call as he was running towards the danger end. Sehwag should have responded instead of standing there staring at the ball, which he himself has admitted. So much so that Andy Zaltzman immediately commented on cricinfo that Sehwag almost looked like he was checking mails when Sachin was sprinting.

Get a life dude instead of simply blaming Sachin for everything !

If you are so wise and can understand everything, go and closely follow the expert opinions in TV, News etc regarding Sachin's dismissals for the last 5 years. If you have a litte brain, will understand what I said. You seem to be that kind of a chap who has heard from a 3rd person that there is some god called Sachin playing and hence blindly start supporting him in all aspects without applying a little bit of judgement (if you have any, of course). It's high time you learn to do some critical judgements. Mechanically writing codes cofined in a matchbox-like cubicle has taken a toll on your reasoning power.

Critical judgments on a person who has played cricket all his life ??!! God ! u do have a huge notion about urself to consider that u r greater than all the cricketers and ex cricketers who have praised Sachin for his understanding of the game !

I think it is too early to predict that, Team India would win World cup... But, with this win they are assured of a place in Quaterfinals, if they r not beaten by a lowly ranked team in the group...

Sachin is still playing well. Run out was due to Shewag's mistake. Sachin recently scored 200 against South Africa which Shewag till now could not do.

Sachin'a ambition is to have a world cup victory. His world cup performance is above anyone but then he didn't had a good team to back up.This is the ideal team for a world cup victory and let him achieve his dream.

it was the others who made the remaining 200 to take the total score to 400 and win against SA. the architects of that victory were dinesh karthick, yusuf pathan and dhoni and not sachin.

Sunil Vaidya:

100% well said... :)

India did well to score 200 against South Africa. Sachin as usual took his 200 runs home... ;-)
Now Sehwag is more bighearted, and he allowed the scorers to add his 175 to the Indian total to save ourselves blushes against Bangladesh... :)

Review System
by MeetFireWithFire on Feb 20, 2011 08:23 PM

Ideally captains should not be conservative in using the Review System. Should exhaust it as early as possible. Surely bowlers and wicket keepers should be in the best position to judge a wicket and have the potential to claim at least 8/10 times to reverse decision.

By not being conservative may help in causing early inroads in the opposition which could prove decisive in the end

Signature Quote
by Ramesh on Feb 20, 2011 08:05 PM

What's important is to win the game for the country. It's not important who is performing.

----------------------
The report in Indian Express with the headline ***Tendulkar said it's okay to Sehwag on run-out in WC opener*** attributes the quote to Tendulkar, while here one gets an impression that the line was added by Sehwag.

Either way, given the context of superlative performance, and extraordinary quality of both players, though against a weak team; it may qualify to be considered as a signature line of Indian Team spirit.

World Cup format is worst
by abdul nazeer on Feb 20, 2011 08:02 PM  | Hide replies

Everyone knows that all the top 8 teams will qualify for quaterfinals, except for bangladesh vs westindies. So whats in store for the league games except for the records. In quaterfinals, your favourite team if loses, there's no interest. In a knockout fixture even a bangladesh can beat india. Does anyone endorse this, means that last 3 games winner will be the cup holder. There is no 2nd chance after the league games. India even if loses to england and south africa, will still qualify.
