UTTERLY RIDICULOUS FORMAT!
by Kabeer on Feb 21, 2011 12:15 PM  | Hide replies

Now I understand why no big sporting powers do not play cricket.

There are only 8 nations that play test cricket and these are grouped into 2 with 4 teams each in a group.

It is perfectly possible for a team to win the world cup by playing only one team and defeating it from the opposite group and thereby not at all playing 3 out of 8 and still emerge as a Champion. Even this does not mean that it has to defeat all other 4 big teams.

The world champion of 8 big teams need not play 3 and even may lose 1 from its group and has to actually defeat only 4 teams out of 8 and still be a WORLD CHAMPION.

That is why the ICC and BCCI are big idiots!

Atleast the top 8 teams should play a league format.

In that way, 1992 format was good as each nation played against each nation.

have played well in the first match. To score 283 in 50 overs itself against a total of 370 itself is an achievement and display of charecter. They will become another better cricketing nation like Srilanka and give current established sides run for their money.

World cup aka 8 nation cup

it would be great if the so called world cup is played between 8 serious cricketing nations by conducting round robin matches after dividing these teams into 2 groups and eliminating 4 teams to proceed further to semis..the schedule of this WC is ridiculus ...with useless matches between good and minnows....ponting has a vaild point

And its inventor England could not win even a single world cup.

Rest all good teams (except for West Indies) were ruled by Britishers.

And the fact is that ICC is yet to find to add a good cricket team in 29 years (Sri Lanka was the last good team added in 1982).
