it was a treat to watch him face the pace battery of those days..there was no mechanism of gauging the speed...having seen them,my guess they were all consistently above 150. NO INDIAN batsman can ever be compared to the sheer technical competency of SMG. It was SMG who created a slot for us in the map of world cricket.

I consider him the best bateman ever for Indian test cricket. He has not played enough of one day and 20:20. Otherwise he would have mastered that form of cricket too.

milind, no doubt gavaskar ws a great test batsman. the best opener India hv ever had.

I know it. But 100 matchec in 15 to 17 years is not comparable with the current situation where players complete it in 3-4 years. He looked at 1 days as a fun option just like players view 20:20 nowadays.

And u take it seriously..?? Mohinder was always hit wkt at the beginning of his career..SMG advised him to stand bit angular ...and thenceforth his career flurished...get the facts my friend..SUnny was just being modest...when he said that..Having said that I should also mention Mohinder was all rounder ..could bowl as part timer..Sunny bowled too but it was just to take the shine off the ball for spinners ...

I do not agree. I have watch both of their play for 10 years at least and SG was quite superior to MA. Also MA's speed of scoring was very poor.

That is because of latter's height. With his height SMG faced bouncers with ease hooking them. Mind you there was no helmet. See how Yuvraj, Suresh Raina and even Sachin are jumping in the crease to avoid rising balls of 140 plus!!
His 36 Not out in 174 balls deserves to be condemned
No Excuse.
The least they can do is to stop him from Participating in any one day event and shamefully he got associated with 20:20 almost as if there are lack of cricket players in this country to get into the roles that gavaskar does. Of course he is a legend as far as test is concerned.
Also he needs to be punished for keeping Dollars in the locker and it was an illegal act. How is a different from a criminal. Quantum of known crime is low ?? is that the reason

The persons frequently going abroad has quite a few number of Dollars always with him. I think a locker is a safe place to keep them. What do you think as an option? They can not be deposited in any indian bank account which is for Rupees only.
I had the pleasure of watching the Nagpur match live on TV. I remember it was Evan Chatfield who bore the maximum wrath of SG. Even the crowd wanted Chatfield to continue the bowling. Subsequently I heard, not sure of correctness" that SG has told Srikkant that see I am playing like you, Can U play like me?

Srikkanth is quite junior to SG. SG could not have said such a meaningless thing to a junior player.
