Sunil Gavaskar

ha ha SIR an aptly knowledgeable person in field of cricketlike u must be high(what was u smoking) to think in first place that india can win series. To repeat ur words i wud luv to get tagged as wrong. West indies bowlers with genuine pace on docile indian wickets troubled grt tendulkar and bundled out rest so many times. Even a novice like me in my right frame of mind won't dare to think winning series. England showed mental toughness of indian players from stomach upset to injuries everything cropped up !!! AS they say when going gets tough weak start fizzling out... Immediately champion trophy had everyone available...

Gambhir: Test record in recent time is worser than Ricky pointing..

Shewag: weather player u never know
: If playes long inning draw if plays faster match gets over early..
Kohli -> long way to go and prove his mettle against quality bowlers and pitches..
tendi :: tremendously talented but passed his printe genuinely troubled by fast bowlers around world with good short pitch deliveries..
laxms - > he is not RAM

Stop this nonsense. The fellow was the top scorer in both the innings. This has been the case everytime we toured Australia. Please check the records. Yes he may not be a finisher but without scoring those 15000 odd runs, do you think we would have reached whatever position that Indian cricket is in. Go talk to any budding cricketer and Sachin is an inspiration to all such people. Selfishness is required to succeed. Period

Guruji, I NEVER critisised
"Godlike Sachin",
I simply said that for
we( Indians), Sachin's 100th ton and Bharat Ratna is more important than on going OZ series,
Series may come and Go but Godlike Sachin appears once in life time.
In fact, I praised sachin for his " deserving" BR and it's long wait.

Narangji,
It is very clear that you are being sarcastic.
Do you know one third of any section of people do not agree with others on any one single issue.
Sachin deserves BR or not decided on one series or any series. It is his contribution to the field of his choice that matters. He is a role model for lot of things. It may or may not include fighting to win by scoring plenty of runs in the second innings to win matches. But he did his part better than most others consistently for a very long time.
There are definitely others in other fields who may deserve BR more than Sachin. But I don't think we are discussing that here.
Peace!!!

Team needs support and motivation to come back from this loss. This kind of comment from Legends are disappointing. Each team is Lion in their backyard and its not an easy job to beat them. Even Australia finds it impossible to win in India. Still have faith in Trio of Sach,Drav, And Laxy. They will make us bounce back.

Precisely my view as well. We are a poor starters in a tour. Also it needs to be noted that result was quite close and was not as if India was steam rolled. Australia is a pale shadow of their former great teams. To write off India's chances is incorrect. I believe we stand a good chance to win.

Very very close. Winning margin was not even 500 runs. ;-)

How many marches has India won during Gavaskar's innings. Many times he played for his own records. Now commmenting on the team is a very easist job. Every this is not over, wait, India - Blues will come back !!.

Indian Tour in Australia.
by sriraam subramaniam on Dec 31, 2011 10:49 AM  | Hide replies

I fully agree with Gavaskarji on his comments on winning the Series at Australia. What is the use of having Batsmen Like Sachin,Lakshman,Dravid,Shewang and Gambhir when they cannot take 292 runs in 4th innings when the pitch was supporting Batsmen. Mahendra Singh Dhoni does not have the quality of a Test Batsman hence he should be captaining the One day and T20 Matches. I think more matured and aggressive brain person should be handed over the Captaincy so that Mahendra Singh Dhoni can concentrate on his Keeping and Batting. It is really shame that our so called World Class Batsmen(Paper Tigers) and succumbing to bowlers like Pattson,Siddle and Hilfanaus. It is really a shame. New Zealand had a much weaker side than India in Bowling and Batting still they have commitment and won a Test.

As a Indian and former player of Indian team do not said like this and if possible if you clear understanding our Indian team can give good suggestion to improve that is enough remaining thing Doni will do as world champion captain but this type of discouragement is not good as Gavasker standard.

May be, if the junior gavaskar is in the team, the legend who is negotiating his annual income for 5 crores, will encourage Indian team.

The ongoing series named as 'border-gavaskar trophy' is a insult to kapil dev, dennis lillie, thompson, etc.

Kapil and Dennis both were great players but no trophy can not insult them. They make themselve insulted when they open their mouth...
