Indian Cricket has reached its nadir
by Inzy Bhai on Dec 31, 2011 12:09 PM  | Hide replies

Indian cricket is looking ridiculous thanks to its spineless & lackluster performance in Melbourne. What was India thinking that they would beat Oz in Oz. Just forget it. This Indian cricket team are a bunch of pansies with no stomach for a fight. They deserve to be humiliated & mauled at the hands of the Aussies. Mark my words this series will signal an end to the careers of Dravid, SRT, Laxman & Dhoni and to some extent Gambhir, Sehwag & Zaheer. I love these Aussies who will now rip the Indians to pieces in Sydney, roast them in Perth & consume them like tarts in Adelaide. This is a wake up call to the BCCI that cricket is about to die in India as they are just above Bangladesh. Forget the ICC ratings which are hogwash anyways. This is the true report of team India.

SG'S OBJECTIVE OBSERVATIONS GOOD FOR INDIAN CRICKET
by damodaran mohan on Dec 31, 2011 12:06 PM  | Hide replies

Yes, given the way India played this must be the inescapable conclusion of most neutral people including Indians. It is good that a legend like SG whose observations matter a lot in Indian cricket has decided to change to candid admissions.Such opinions from such important people are very essential for Indian cricket to improve. We can only hope many more weighed down by considerations of BCCI carrots will also come out publicly to voice their objective opinions in the interest of Indian cricket.

SG should not discourage Team India. On the contrary, if possible, he should go and meet the team and give some tips. Whenever any foreign team visits India their cricket correspondents accompany the team and try to encourage them.

remove duncan fletcher immediately. no need for any coach. like how in the last time dada engaged with greg to sort out his batting and how bruce reid helped our bowlers, we should do the same now..better late than never..may be induct rohit sharma in place of struggling gambhir. ..

team for sydney, better late than never.

Can't write them off..

Yes..recent foreign test results is an indication of what is in store for the Indian team in the remaining three test in Aus. But the same team with most of the veterans faired reasonably well in last AUS tour to square the series atleast...There is no dearth in talent, just that their confidence & form is low. Most of them have individually proved their mettle in foreign pitches before. What the team lacks is a collective effort in the batting department. The first innings proved that our aging veterans are still pretty good. The younger lot of Gambhir, Dhoni & kohli should lift themselves up. If not for the Aussie tailender's efforts in both the innings the match would have gone to the wire. The Aussies are not the same old top test team & I believe both teams are on same level presently. If the bowlers can put up a similar performance in the coming days (& not let the Aus tail wag for long) & batting holds up, India still can come back in the series...

whatas the prob
by veerapuram dharan on Dec 31, 2011 11:49 AM  | Hide replies

talent wise we are there but to much meaningless cricket is killing us...

in 2011, most of the test playing nations had engaged themselves in not more than three series apart from the WC..but, we played one meaningless series against WI at home and one IPL, champions league, meaningless ODI series against eng..if this is not over burden, then what does it mean?

Please correct ur statement...."talentwise we are there " to "talentwise we are there in placid Indian conditions against teams like WI, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe...."

India's chances of winning Australia series over

I completely agree with Gavaskar. To win an overseas test series (Be it australia or any other country) for a team like India it is very important to win the first test (Or a Draw) of the series and put the pressure straight away on the hosts. A golden opportunity was lost by team india and it will be very difficult for them to bounce back and win the series (Given the record of team india abroad). May be they can draw the series but winning seems to be a distant dream at present.
