Get Sourav Back at Nos 6
by aditya ganguly on Dec 30, 2011 11:34 AM  | Hide replies

Sourav retired 3 yrs back, from then Yuvraj,Raina,Pujara,Kohli,Badrinath,Rohit......the list is unlimited..but no one has been able to cement their place at Nos 6 crucial position,so selctors can think of getting Sourav back atleast for Aus tour and since he has also scored nearly 500 runs in Ranji Trophy this year and not to forget that he has 113 Test experience under his belt..!!

But he was a big failure on green & bouncy tracks... And what about his sloppy fielding and poor running between the wickets?
He is good at ranaji level and let him play there :)

Your famed line up at any cost loses all Tests abroad..so whars the harm..? And all our players graduate into test level after playing Ranji trophy..?? Isnt it ..? Have u forgotten his 144 at Gabba in Brisbane on a bouncy track..!! There were no Ranji bowlers..!! It was Mcgrath,Gillespie,Warne..etc.

Dude cricket is not a govt job to cement someone's place on..unfortunately sourav thought so and was given undue leeway in that slot for too long. He should have been sacked much earlier even from No 6 spot.

All cricket fields and stadiums in India should be converted to football fields and soccer academics....enough of this game....country needs some change...

Re: WHY,WHY

what can vinay do that the other bowlers couldn't ????
His physique is not tailored for a fast bowler. he can at best bowl at 110-120 kmph which would have resulted in a leather hunt.

REgarding uthappa, less said the better. At best he is only a t20 player.

Anyways I presume u were just kidding, bcoz ur screen name suggests it.

yes uthappa an usha utthup should open the batting, and spinners venkatesh prasad and vinay kumar should open the bowling.

Sangakkara, Jayawardene duo are far more superior in handling pace than the socalled best trio of Sachin, Dravid and Laxman. With more than 1 day remaining our trio vanished without any fight. Better play Rohit, Raina and Rahane and lose. Atleast they will gain experience

Rohit and Rahane r good players and definitely need to get the break.
But raina has proved that he is useless when it comes to test cricket. He is only a t20 player.
Instead we can try out Cheteshwar pujara in place of Raina.

Performance
by vijay rajan on Dec 30, 2011 10:57 AM  | Hide replies

Sehwag : Can’t change his playing style, guys down the order need to build partnerships.

Gambhir : Seems to be relish giving catch practice to the Aussie slip cordon. Makes Abhinav Mukund’s technique look like Gary Sober’s.

Dravid : Clean bowled 3 times in this test, a gaping hole in the wall. Time to rethink future plans.

Tendulkar : Looked in superb touch, but never looked liked taking control of the Indian innings. Time to rethink future plans.

VVSS : Inexplicably, Very very strange & sedate. Time to rethink future plans.

Kohli : Seems to be heading the Yuvraj / Raina way in Test cricket. Needs to work harder on his game.

MSD : Atrocious captaincy, needs to set attacking fields, lady luck seems to have deserted him, needs to learn the technique to bat in tests.

Ashwin : Competed hard, batted admirably, done enough to retain his spot.

Zak : Bowled well in patches, needs to contribute more with bat due to fragile top-order.

Ishant : Bowled well in patches, needs to contribute more with bat due to fragile top-order, needs to learn how to bowl fuller on such pitches, needs to stop leaking runs.

Umesh Yadav : Bowled his heart out, needs to stop leaking runs.

Duncan Fletcher : Needs to realize that he isn't working with a world class team.

Greg Chappell : Must be pleased as a punch !

srilanka's win in south africa
by biswanath roy on Dec 30, 2011 10:42 AM  | Hide replies

after srilanka's comprehensive win against south africa in SA, against our batsmen's dismal show in australia, the question comes as to whether we deserve to be world no 2 side in tests. apart from winning in india, bangladesh on flat low bounce pitches, we have met our waterloo on seaming, bouncy pitches of england, south africa,& australia.our flat pitch bullies come a cropper whenever they play on grassy, bouncy surfaces. look at sameerwera, sangakara, welegedara & herath, much smaller names than sachin, laxman, dhoni, sehwag gambhir but committed for their country, which is the thing lacking in our big names. in IPL they will put everything because that gives money, national duty they feign injuries. after yesterday's dismal defeat-dhoni & his wife, & similarly sachin & his family are reported to have gone to the melbourne market for purchases. no remorse on them on the defeat.sorry state of affairs.

Just because they have lost it doesnt mean they cant go to markets and purchase anything!! We may fight here, but they are the actual ones who sweat it out literally on the field! They deserve some privacy......
Sir, agree with u on everything except the above.

Australian tour
by VENKATESWARAN VISWANATHAN on Dec 30, 2011 10:28 AM

Our senior players are no doubt best in the world. But from their reaction on the field one could easily observe that age has caught up with them and the flexibility is not there any more. As of now we do not have any competent youngsters who can replace the likes of Dravid, Sachin and VVS. See what a pathetic performance of Virat Kohli. Be prepared for another white wash.

The toss was so important
by anand datar on Dec 30, 2011 09:25 AM  | Hide replies

In this test toss was so much important and the Australians got the advantage of winning it. If you see the scores 333 by Aus, 282 by Ind, 240 by Aus and 169 by Ind, the graph was going down and down. Even Aussies could not score more than 250 in second innings ! So, if they would have come again to bat they might not have scored more than 200 ! Dhoni must win the toss which he invariably loses !!

There was nothing surprising about australian batting as everyone knew that not many players are in good form. But what suprises me is so called the famed indian batting faultering again. If they loose one or two series on foreign soil it is understandble , but not winning any in australia they need to answer some serious questions.
