yeah, it was a big joke on all of us when our captain says we are slow starters .. why didn't we start slowly against WI ??? It is undoing of a captain of supposed to be no. 1 side to offer cheap excuses and not accept they were outplayed .. and also to expect as all to buy it!!! If he is so sure that on overseas series the team will lose the first match why play this eleven ? why not play others if you are so sure that you will lose the first one???!!!! I don't recollect any no.1 team of any era cooking up such cheap excuses.
Expect more "fuller" stuff and "chin" music from Pattinson and Siddle in the remaining matches. Can someone tell Gambhir and Dhoni that they are due for test runs for a very long time and call vijay to cover Gambhir. Dravid was cleaned-up by all the aussie pace bowlers in this test match thrice. That's worrying. We allowed Ponting and Hussey to settle down and one of them will torture you with loads of runs in this series.Remember the last ashes and the Srilanka test series. I reckon Hussey will be the key. Prepare a strategy. Let's not give the same one liner excuse that india are slow starters. Last series was a classic example. The flight never took-off in England.
16 overseas innings now with team total less than 300! What are we getting playing these old men for so long ??? Only their individual records are swelling .. In dead flat tracks they block and block and get some runs. On lively tracks even if one of them gets some runs he crawls so slowly that it has no impact on boosting team's confidence as a whole ... I don't think youngsters wud have fared any poorer, we better blood our next generation rather than hang on to this old men and just celebrate individual records!!!

I would say sack all the batsmen then... Why only Dhoni... Dhoni is performing the extra task of captaining the side atleast... Pure batsmen in the team are ONLY batting and nothing else so why not drop them first? Dude, you gotta give some time... we were having the upper edge at many moments during this test... lets support them...
Re: Re: Re: Drop Dhoni:

Why did Australia of past and WI for that matter kept grooming a younger player as captain when there were so many seniors in the team? And so acc to you all the captains are useless as most of the teams today have young leaders... Great thought that!
Re: Re: Drop Dhoni:

is he captaining. zaheer bowled fantastic over against point with score at 40-4 in which ponting was twice beaten and almost out. but he went for change next over itself. setting field for bad bowls is worst part. means he is not having confidence is bowler. most of the tiem he had onlt 2 slips. never gave ashwin close fielder. why ashwin is there to bat or to take wicket. on top of that his contribution from bat is zero.
Re: Drop Dhoni:
by ANIL SINGH on Dec 29, 2011 02:46 PM
obviously 2011 he scored runs at average of 26 that too because of 144 not out against WI on dead flat wicket. we have atleast better wicketkeeper batsman than him in test called saha. His captaincy was at the worst allowing hussey and ponting when aus was down at 27-4 and also 10/11 no batman taking singles easily. Stared with two slips I never saw aus without 3 slip and that give confidence to bowler. he sucks
Re: Re: Drop Dhoni:

Saha better than Dhoni? I will not accept that even if India lose 4-0 to Australia... Any facts to support your statement?
Re: Re: Re: Drop Dhoni:
by ANIL SINGH on Dec 29, 2011 02:52 PM
look at his batting. and keeping wise he is not best in india. saha is better batsman ( proof is he played as pure batsman) I don't think dhoni can be only part of team as batsman.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Drop Dhoni:
by Crazy Diamond on Dec 29, 2011 02:53 PM
haha, proof? Go and give this proof to ICC and ask them to replace Dhoni with Saha in all the ICC teams that they have selected...
Looking at the game, I feel our bowlers created a lot of chances for us in the match... Then until Sachin got out on the second day we were in complete control... After the collapse on the 3rd day our bowler did well to wreck Australian top order... Atlease they gave a fight in this match unlike in England where we were completely down and out... India with this bowling attack can really come back strongly!

WE have come back strongly in previous tours also. in SA we lost first won second...in previous tour to aus also we lost monkey gate test but won the next at perth where aussies were supposedly unbeatable
Re: Re: Re: Positives
by Sunil Vaidya on Dec 29, 2011 02:45 PM
are you blind raj iyer, i said the last time we went to australia and SA we lost previous test but came back strongly to win the next test...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Positives
by Sunil Vaidya on Dec 29, 2011 03:13 PM
aussie tour was i think in 2007/8 kumble was captain...we lost the series finally. 1-2....but came back to win the tri-series under dhoni captaincy despite many seniors not playing...SA tour was last year...
sachin has got so many centuries, but if you looks for the highest centuries by a batsmen in the 4th innings iam sure sachin will not be there on TOP :)
Re: Re: we all know
by Ravi Iyer on Dec 29, 2011 02:33 PM
nothing special...but it matters when you score in a 4th to win a test match for your country. Performance in 2nd innings has no bearing on a batsman still facing such situations. For example, Sehwag, Dravid and Sachin all 3 played well in 2nd but still someone needed to play well in the 4th for a win. It didn't happen.

This notion that test matches are ONLY won thru centuries in 4th innings is a new concept?
Re: Re: Re: Re: we all know
by prakash k on Dec 29, 2011 02:38 PM
yeah seems like a new concept that has been conceived by Mr. ravi Iyer. Dont think even Ravi shastri knows about it or for that matter even Ian Chappel Or Sunil Gavaskar!
Re: Re: Re: Re: we all know
by Sunil Vaidya on Dec 29, 2011 02:49 PM
Pseudo: the concept is now new. but anyway whether it is first innings or the last sachin is nowhere...for the the 2nd innings of any test we depend on dravid and laxman and for the first innings of any test nobody in the world was better than sehwag (bradman only exception)...sehwag scores at around 70 runs average in first innings...for 2nd innings there are dravid and laxman. also sehwag sometimes. he can score at 8 runs per over chasing near-400 on the last day of the match...remember his 63 odd ball 83 runs against england when we won chasing 387 in fourth innings...:-)

Gambheer, Sehwag, Laxman, Dravid are also married. I think they should also retire to look after their wives.
Re: we all know
by Ravi Iyer on Dec 29, 2011 02:34 PM
I remember Graeme Smith scoring a few 100s in 4th and SA won those matches. We need the Big 3 to do that more often. Needn't be a 100, can be a good 70-80, but ensure a win. VVS did that a few times last year v SL and AUS.
Re: Re: we all know
by Against Pseudos on Dec 29, 2011 09:10 PM
VVS always tries to repair the pressure he puts on the team by failing in 1st innings. :-)
