Batting Strategy In Australia
by Girish K on Dec 30, 2011 07:59 AM  | Hide replies

Everytime India lost in Australia, the top 5 batsmen were gone in the first 20 or so overs. The few times openers withstood the opening overs, we did very well. Aakash Chopra and Rahul Dravid in recent times --- Chetan Chauhan and Sunil Gavaskar in the 70s.

Not many people consider Aakash Chopra or Chetan Chauhan as great players, but because of them, the other batsmen were able to score their tons.

The reasoning is that the Kookaburra ball is not as potent after 25 to 30 overs. So, it is not a bad idea to send in weaker batsmen during the initial overs and keep the likes of Sehwag and Tendulkar for the later overs.

India's best opening pair ever were Gavaskar and Chauhan. They were rock solid in their defence and partnership was almost unbreakable once set...

Never concerned- Experienced losers
by Sameer Bhagwat on Dec 30, 2011 07:53 AM

I am not concerned either, this has been going on for the past 20 years that I have been watching cricket.

We lose abroad badly and BBCI and captain says , no problem they are experienced , maybe thats the problem they are experienced losers.

that BCCI nexus may have made arrangements of FIXING MATCHES in the remaining series, hence dhoni said we may better performance in next match. Allah, make sure that its a clean series so we can witness another whitewash of mediocre Indian Team

Ignorant fans like Muhammed fail to understand that Paki team & PCB do cheating in the matches which they win.

Comparison
by Jiju on Dec 30, 2011 05:46 AM

Sangakara being a wicket keeper can play such great innings, whereas our great captain fool is 'very tired'. After wicket keeping, he comes as low in the order as possible so that he can give an excuse like "our tail did not score runs"......

Just bend ....
by Chicago Male on Dec 30, 2011 04:23 AM

When it comes to sports, and I mean any kind, India should just bend over and let Australia have it. Time and again they have done it to us. I know a few of us will point to that world cup victory but those are few and far between.

This is a game and the rival team played better cricket. Period.
by Surya RXHundred on Dec 29, 2011 11:10 PM

Reading many comments on the Fab 3. This is a game and the opposition played better. This is no way to treat your THREE TEST ICONS. Having followed cricket for the past 3 decades, and knowing the pattern which Indian tst cricket takes usually takes in an away series, I still trust Laxman, Dravid and Tendulkar would deliver in the remaining test series, and not for personal glory but on a team cause. As Dhoni rightly points, we must master cleaning up the tail. This ofcourse should not take away the effort put in by Zee Khan and Umesh. Let our disappointment on losing the test match defame the trio. Laxman failing in the 2nd innings of a match is really surprising. Lets give that hero a chance to come back strongly as he usually does against the Aussies. X can lie, Y can lie, Z can lie, but NUMBERS dont lie and that too over a period of 10 years. Just wait and see how strongly Sachin would come back. After all it's his reputation and he would not disappoint us.
