Dear friends, I dont know why we r discussing so much about Dravid's achievements and Tendulkar failures just based on this series. Dravid form was inconsistent for last two years (before Westendies tour)while Tendulkar was scoring heavily (in all forms of game) and winning and saving matches for India. The same Tendulkar was facing similar inconsistent form 3-4 yrs back and Dravid was scoring runs. In a team, it happens all the time. I think we should not paa judjements based on just one series. one thing is clear we dont have a gr8 bench strength in both batting and bowling depts which we were thinking that we have. I think there are much more serious problems the current team have than just the inconsistent form of some of the senior players.

exactly.. like when u open your bbbblloooooodddddyyyyyy mouth.. people want to thrash you black and blue
going by the current form vvs should retire this year, SRT next and RD the year after. This will help in developing young players in test also avoid a vaccumm...
I strongly believe Dravid is the Only player in Indian Team who plays for the country not for other aspects.. He concentrates on saving the game not scoring records... I remember once he said like I dont run after records as they come after my play.. He is should be awarded for his service by the Govt..

That's the reason why he recently scored all those meaningless runs in the England tour that served no purpose for his team. Add to that, that must be the reason why he scores at a magnificent strike rate of 41 odd in Tests, the lowest by any player since 1990.
To succeed in top professional sports, especially cricket, you need Talent, Technique and Temperment. The first two can be taught and honed to perfection if you've a good and understanding coach. The last T has to come from within.. its a state of mind, a private hell or paradise that each player has to go through by himself. Its heartening to know and follow the greatest batsmen India has produced, Rahul Dravid, who has excelled in all the T's.
Dravid has been a true team player. He has been so adaptive, docile for the team cause. Whenever the team needed him to open the innings in Test, he has done with utmost ease. He was made the makeshift wicket keeper by Ganguly in 2002-2003 on the pretext of playing an extra batsman, he did that without any fuss. He was made to bat at differnet positions in One dayers. Unlike Tendulkar who is rigid and never adapts to the team situation and does not bat at No.3 in tests when needed. Dravid's dedication towards the game has been amazing, his demeanour both on/ off the field has been been so humble. It was very pleasing to hear so many good words, written for him by Andy Flower, when he was handed the India's Man of the series awards after the 4th test. He has never indulged in any sort of sledging. He has been so selfless, he gave the India's captaincy because he felt he was not contributing much with the bat. He was stripped of the captaincy in IPL, but still he made no fuss about it (unlike Ganguly) and continued to play under Peterson/Kumble with the same commitment. Shane warne also had heaps of praises for him after Dravid played under him in IPL4 for Rajastan royals. In the current generation of Indian players i can't see any player matching his overall potential beacuse its not always being talented, other attributes like temperament, attitude, diligence are much more vital.
Critizing Sachin, or for the matter of fact anybody else, will only be like showing dis-respect to Dravid........all Rahul's fans letz first develop some of his qualities, .....his humbleness, his politeness.....will help us in difficult times
while praising dravid is acceptable the constant critisisam on sachin lacks logic. itseems those write all things immediatly after a successful/failure series that dravid before this series was consistent falure for about 2years and sachi was doing great jobthen. so do not jump to conclusions by one series and remember both sachin and dravid are eqally great and admired eaqally by not only by cricket followers who have strong memory and knowledge but also by great players of past and present

exactly.....letz not forget cricket is a team sport. Everyone contributes their own way.....Letz not forget Sachin's and Laxman's recent contributions.......Sachin's 2 back to back innings in ODIs against mighty OZ in Sharjah....VVS' epic innings in Eden Gardens.......Dravid's England tours.......Sourav's debut.....Viru's triples...Bajji's Hat-trick....etc..
