lol the ads of champions league are so funny, with stern looking cricketers as if they are warriors going in to a war. kinda ironic after this defeat in tests

they dont have to.cricket is a TEAM GAME and in this series it is a COLLECTIVE failure of batting ,bowling, fielding, wicket keeping, coaching, team selecting so on and so forth...

Yeah!!! Collective game. All 15 team members go and COLLECT the winner's trophy. It is the captain who receives it. Even in drubbing it is the captain who shoud receive the flak. Dhoni knew Oval pitch will spin in the later part of the test, yet he goes with RP singh to create foot holes for Swann. This is a nonsense, also provided that RP had just joined the team and Munaf well acclamatized by then. Dhoni needs a flak. There are several decisions that he did through out the series needs flak. Finally, the last but not the least, the way he played signified that he is preparing for the CLT20!!! irresponsible. Even yesterday he could hung around for some more time. There were around 40 odd overs to play.. Completely spoiled the series. Dhoni should take all the flak. And if he is not surrendering he will be arrested soon from the captaincy.

Blaming Dhoni for defeat is ridiculous. He was the best and lucky skipper till the beginning of this series. He might have committed certain blunders in this tour but they were not intentional. The man responsible for India's downfall was Zaheer Khan who started India's bad days by opting to play in the first test and was out with injury within 4 overs. India had to bowl with three bowlers which enabled England to recover and post big total. Indian morale started to go down from that incident. Further pressure for Sachin's 100th century had made Sachin a totally impotent while batting. Laxman was out of sorts with lack of match practice.

If you believe in luck Dhoni should buy shares in the current market and not play Anderson and Broad expecting luck will favour him. Even luck favours the brave and not rude. Couldn't put bat to ball and ball to glove. Many a times it was clear that he was Goal keeping and not wicket keeping. You keep swinging your bat you will get a couple of innings out of 6-7 tests. That is exactly what has happened to him. In many series - when lost or won - the team tries new players. What was the need for Raina??? Why Virat Kohli had to travel to UK? Dhoni should have tried Virat instead of useless Raina. But remember they are CSK friends!!! Can keep writing for a long time and it won't get completed. At the end of the day it proved some one can be lucky for a while but not forever.

Zaheer's case as you rightly mentioned was a big setback and the blame hast to go Zaheer who should have stayed back in India rather than put this additional burden on Dhoni..but what about the selection of R.P Singh when Munaf Patel the bowler with much better average in the previously concluded Ranji & IPL season was not considered for playing the last test..The whole of India knows that its because of Rhiti sports who influenced Dhoni to select RP bcoz RP is also associated with Rhiti sports.

You sound almost like Dhoni himself.... the CEO of Indian team......

I mean the Chief Excuse Officer... :)

So no wonder you'd feel that Dhoni made no mistakes... :)

lack of self belief
by sanjay sharma on Aug 23, 2011 10:18 AM

it all started since the last test against windies when they did not try to chase the 180 odd runs in 47 overs against one of the weakest side in current test cricket, it showed their lack of self-belief or confidence , they deserve to lose this series

you can't be having a golden leg always!!
by Venugopal Jandhayala on Aug 23, 2011 10:18 AM

it is time for you to speculate on your captaincy abilities, leadership qualities and motivation levels. Save for a couple of innings, you were very much short on captaincy material. this was a series of Dravid versus england. don't take everything for granted. you are being watched with a microscope. one more debalce and we indians and ardent cricket fans would want you out. the bigger you are, the harder you fall. good luck in any case!

R.Vinaykumar is the better choice than S.Sreeshanth. Along with Praveenkumar, Munaf Patel & Varun Aaron are the fast bowlers. Regading spin, R.Ashwin & Rahul Sharma are the best choice, as both are playing many T20 matches in IPL. In absence of Sehwag, Robin Uttappa is right choice, as dominating batsman is required in absence of Sehwag & Yuvraj Singh.
But BCCI select same test defeated team.

1st message that make sense to me.. good to see Rahul Sharma and Robin Uthappa for the 1 day games. Would like to try Rahul Sharma in Test matches too. He is a better version of Kumble and I believe can bat too.
