We were outplayed by a better team: Dhoni
by Amitava Nandi on Aug 14, 2011 11:26 AM  | Hide replies

MR DHONI, YOU WERE OUTPLAYED NOT BY A BETTER TEAM BUT BY A TEAM THAT PERFORMED BETTER. IT IS UP TO YOU AND BCCI TO DECIDE WHETHER TEAM INDIA CAN GO ALONG WITH NON PERFORMERS LIKE SACHIN, LAXMAN, DHONI ETC BASED ON THEIR NAMES & ENDORSEMENT FEES & STAR STATUS OR DO WE NEED TO LOOK TO INFUSE FRESH BLOOD. TAKE YOUR PICK. WE INDIANS ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT THE GAME. WE CAN ACCEPT DEFEAT BUT NOT HUMILIATION.

Indian team never played upto the level. That's the reason for the loss.Senior players are not in rhythm including dhoni's average batting & wicket keeping.Don't carry senior players in the team for the past performances.Raina & Bhaji with all the bowlers should be replaced.

All the players are concerned only about money fetching IPL and not bothered about test cricket. IPL can get them more endorsements and commercials.
Stop IPL, we will see, they all strive hard to get to the test side by reducing their waistline, improving their fielding and focusing on batting and bowling techniques.

they have played na friend, though knowing that they would fall short of victory and will get nicely from the indian media..do u think these test matches won't get them good money? they do..that too for 5 continuous days..sitting at the pavilion they can earn money...it's that easy than IPL or one dayers...

BCCI rewards for indian team
by Niharika Sharma on Aug 14, 2011 11:04 AM  | Hide replies

After the loss, if BCCI have guts then annouce the following rewards:

1. None of the top 6-7 Indian players will play IPL/ICL or make those money till they bring India to
number one spot. Unless they show better fitness older players should just stop playing one dayers.
With utmost respect, love and lots of pain, we must ensure that our beloved Sachin only plays Test. He is still one of the greatest ever what if he is nt as good in handling pressure like Laxman, he has given us lots of joy n pride over the years. But its time that he, Shewag,Jaheer etc stops from playing 50-50 as well.

2. India lost not becoz they are incapable of playing good bowling, they lost in the mind. What A CHANGE ONE FINDS AT THE EXIT OF GARY KRISTEIN!! It brings back the memories of Chappel era at the exit of John Wright. Coaches matter, the body language of Indian team was of a loser nt of a champion. Thats why we lost. We were unprepared mentally and physically.

3. BCCI is the biggest culprit as it is only bothered about making moneys. With the likes corrupt Sharad Power or Vilasrao Deshmukh in the place of Dilip Vengsarkars, we will only see such defeats more. We should have Sunny Gavaskar, Vengsarkar, Saurav Ganguly,Anil Kumble,Mohinder Amarnath, Kapil Dev heading the various zonal boards and BCCI. These are players with passion, who played for their country and gave us the belief that we are as good as anyone in the world.

4. In the golden era of Indian cricket from 2000-2010, we have produced some remarkable performances both in India and abroad. Even all conquering Australian team lost to us in India. We can create picteches like Azahar era, use our club spinners and beat this English team convincingly. One loss doesnt make us bad but its the manner of defeats which bothers the most. It reminds of the Indian team pre Ganguly era which used to surrender under pressure, which bothered more abt being nice then playing strong agressive cricket-in short playing like losers. Our team didnt become the top team in a day bt it was a remarkable effort, hunger for exellence by some of the greatest of all times, namely Sachin,Ganguly,dravid,Kumble,Laxman,shwag,bhajji...They played for the country...gave us victories n beliefs that we have changed but to find the current team playing like older spineless Indian team hurts us the most. Fight guys fight, u may nt always win bt fight, get injured while plYing test cricket n miss the IPL.

lack of capability
by Priyankar Misra on Aug 14, 2011 10:54 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni perhaps do not the capability to score runs and play as a captain. He should change his career.India needs some good and experienced bowlers who can take wickets at regular intervals and also keep the run rate low.Dhoni should resign from the post of captain.

But unfortunately India have no other choice than keeping him at the captaincy. No one else is performing consistently.

Overconfidence and Ego killed you guys not the better team
by Amreesh Reddy on Aug 14, 2011 10:48 AM

Dhoni should get back and see how he and his team can correct the over confidence and rectify the eggo problem that have.

This was purely shown when many of these so called great players asked for the rest or rather refused to go on West Indies tour. And now the reality is in front of them.

Dropping the players is a knee jerk reaction

Raina is good batsman he will click matter of time

Ishant is good as well but he has to be fresh
that is why we need rotational system to replace tired bowlers

ISHANT is a classic bowler ,,but Iam not sure if he can take work load with long spells

But never the less in Principle you made some good points

may be BCCI can have a 20 member strong contingent
let there be Team Coach and seperate bowling coach
Let ISHANT or ZAHEER confide to the bowling coach if theu are tired or even not feeling fresh

LET the standin battery of reserve fast bowler take his place
let ISHANT or Zaheer make a come back in the next test match

England series is now 4 test matches

when Azhar ,,Shastri or Kapil toured Australia it was 5 test match series - then 50 over ODI series
It is long and tough

that is why ENGLAND ,,AUSTRALIA ,,SOUTH AFRICA ARE different beasts and as such India should have 20 team squad Bcci has money and can afford such a team

This is the way to get to top.Just demolish the so called and current No.1 .Absolutely fantastic,
do not just win by scrapping through , come and thrash the hell out of the team ranked 1 before the series.
It was very enjoyable seeing England win as they keep winning many tests in a series as compared to India who are happy with winning just one match in a series

re:Lack of Planning and Startergy did it
by rama anne on Aug 14, 2011 10:00 AM  | Hide replies

I have posted a gew thousand messages on Rediff appealing to the BCCI

1.Make atleast 2 Indian pitches as per English or aussie wickets No iam not talking about cold and balmy windy weather ,,rather the DECK and the Green top

2.Make two Coaches one for the TEAM and the other for bowlers alone
Do not goto Australia OR England or South Africa without atleast two or three Zaheer khan like bowlers ,,even Zaheers bounce is not on par with the lates English bowlers

3.Making Indian decks say Mohali ,,Nagpur ,,or some Hyderabad as Fast,,bouncy ,,rising pitched will make Indian batsmen get accumusted to Swing ,,High rise deliveries ,,they will get hardened and with practice become very confident as to how to tackle the fast bowling

4.Make indian cricketers and Ex Fast bowler like KAPIL DEVJI to pick raw ,,strong talent from Rural UP or Bihar or rural AP ,,yes there are plenty young people who jump from 150 meter bridge top into a river and swim across the tide ,,they are stronger ,,have good arms and only thing is lack of education or english or money (funds)

Let 100 such raw kids be picked and coached with fast bowling say at the age of 14 years until they turn 17 or 18 years old ,,then introduce them into International cricket or Ranji stuff

such a battery of raw talent will create fast bowlers

I feel the real strong guys with good broad shoulders and arms are in villages of India ,,not some posh MuMBAI gymakhana club or St Xaviers in Kolkota

Make Dada

Pitiable bowling
by Prabhakar KRISHNA on Aug 14, 2011 09:58 AM

We lost because our could not bowl out the English. They did not perform even in Windies except in one match. It does not matter if you score 200 runs if you bowl out the opposition for 180 !!! BOWLERS WIN MATCHES !!!!!!!!!!!
