Without voluntarily retiring from cricket Sachin/Dravid/Gavaskar/Kapil/Ravi Shastri have denied/deprived opportunities to 80% young BC/SC/ST/Minority cricket players.

Thanks Dhoni for the statement
by Injun Abhi on Aug 14, 2011 11:47 PM

We didn't realize that you were outplayed by a better team. We thought India was the better team and still somehow India lost. Thanks for clearing the confusion! M0ron!

Misplaced humility
by Atul Kumar on Aug 14, 2011 11:43 PM

Dhoni's humility is misplaced and uncalled for!

You couldn't expect such humility from the former rulers of India had they been in India's position!

Anyway, England's performance was undoubtedly the only bright spot recently for it as the country and once-upon-a-time empire was overrun by homegrown thugs!

THE SENIORS LET DOWN TEAM INDIA---II
by damodaran mohan on Aug 14, 2011 03:51 PM

Dravid did make runs but would neutralize it by missing crucial catches which were game changers .Laxman after getting past 50 runs would throw his wicket ! Sachin seemed all along distracted for his “hundredth hundred” and would sulk , block , poke and ultimately get out! Only in the last innings when India were staring at a certain defeat Sachin for once looked hungry for runs and ran himself out in the process. How long Dhoni will have to carry this excess baggage ? In fact it was the repeated batting failure which were also the cause of the young bowlers from getting enthused to give a spirited performance. Add to this the misery of the opening pair of Sehwag and Gambhir, the sob story is complete. Given the English conditions and form of the English bowler it is not going to be easy for the famed opening pair not just in the last Test but also in the following one dayers series. Although the two openers are likely to regain their form once out of England and have lot of cricket left but it is time to think about retirement of the three ‘oldies’ and best thing would be to not play even Sachin and Dravid for the One dayers in England. In the long run while scrapping IPL is not the solution but BCCI will have to do a more thorough job in respect of managing the players, Injuries, succession planning to the three ‘oldies’ etc.etc. and prepare better overall for future Test series.

THE SENIORS LET DOWN TEAM INDIA---I
by damodaran mohan on Aug 14, 2011 03:46 PM

Dhoni's claim of being 'outplayed by a better team' is a gross understatement. Shell shocked as an ardent Indian cricket fan when one attempts to 'blog', can't figure out where to begin ? It is not the series loss or no.1 position. Not even the 3--0 defeat nor the margin of each successive defeat but it is the manner the Indians played, both mentally and physically which is simply unbelievable. Even in the wildest of dreams no Indian cricket fan would have ever imagined such pathetic performance by a side well known for making habitual turn arounds from the most difficult of situations! What went wrong then ? Lack of preparations and BCCI of course will be the most convenient whipping boy for most. But can it really explain such meek surrender? Don’t the players, especially the likes of seniors like Sachin, Dravid and Laxman not to speak of that Zaheer fellow bending down clutching his legs or whatever have also to be held accountable more than any one else or the BCCI ? Not as an expert or analyst but purely the perception of as a cricket fan is that the seniors have let down Dhoni and team India. It was evident the seniors are no more as ‘great’ as they were supposed to be and clearly the application needing the commitment level was clearly missing.
