The recent debacle in England is caused by US downgrade by S&
by Bala on Aug 14, 2011 07:18 PM

Yes. The recent debacle in England is caused by US downgrade by Standard & Poor. However, our cricket fundamentals are very strong, domestic market (IPL) is excellent, and banking system can meet any demand of players.

Finance Minster Pranab Mukherjee in The Telgraph (Kolkata).

Cont. former players don't have moral rights......
by Balaji mane on Aug 14, 2011 07:18 PM

Thanks to sachin that he inspired from likes of Kapil Dev and developed the zeal to play for the country and more importantly the desire to win. Sachin played 3 world cups with these selfish players. It was Sourav Ganguly( DADA )who inspired the team to put up a fight and win.they too lost many matches but lost gracefully after putting up a fight. It was under Dravids captaincy that India created a world record for 17 consecutive wins while chasing. till then we were called the chasers. Sachin jelled well with DADA, The Wall,Laxman,Kumble and made india proud. so former players don't blame the current indian team nor even point out an single player.

Polar Shift
suicidal mission
by Polar Shift on Aug 14, 2011 07:17 PM

its not much about losing but the way we lost is appalling. There was no intent seen by any one of them to play positive strokes. As if they went to commit suicide.

Former Players dont have moral rights to blame.....
by Balaji mane on Aug 14, 2011 07:04 PM  | Hide replies

Former Players have no moral rights to blame the current Indian players for the series lost against england. Exception being Kapil dev/ amarnath.... Apart from him none of the former players had the zeal to perform. They didnt have the burning desire to win during those days. It was kapil Dev's innings in 1983 world cup match against zimbabwe ( 175 Not out ) which changed the course of Indian cricket forever.Sadly, the match was not telecasted live nor has video records for the younger generations like us to see and get inspired from. India was struggling at 17 runs/5 wickets.Kapil Dev was the first player who taught the team to win. otherwise they were playing selfish games like the govt. employees work. And the So called Sunil Gavaskar who says that there are 2 players who have taken their place for granted ( indirectl pointing to Harbhajan singh/ zaheer khan ) , when he himself played selfish cricket all his life. Remember in one of the 1979 worldcup matches, gavaskar played the most selfish games in the history of the game 36( 170balls ) when chasing some 300 plus score in 60 overs.

when the team selected by the bcci fails so miserably,
by viswanatha seshadri on Aug 14, 2011 07:03 PM  | Hide replies

all the members of the bcci should resign, all selectors/advisors dismissed, along with the coach. lawyer-types who know neither batting nor bowling should not be allowed become members of the general body voting for the bcci. only cricketers who have played for ranji-trophy, tests, ipl matches etc. should be there. kapil dev should be made the temporary chairman of the bcci until it is reconstituted.

I cannot understand why all this hulla bulla. The team never deserved to be No1.They got there by winning 5 series at home and 3 against BD,WI and NZ.
How can you aspire to be No 1 without beating Aus,SA or Eng in their home conditions since 2008.we can again be No1 by beating SL,BD and Zim at home

India's poor performance
by Chetan v Joshi on Aug 14, 2011 06:57 PM  | Hide replies

When India wins there is reaction in terms of rewards to players in one or the other forms out of public money, but there is no penalty on players when India lose.

In our India, the cricket is worship and cricketers are more than GOD!! Forget about punishment for losing the matches, who will dare to do so in India? The fact is there is tremendous of pressure on these players to play and play the matches one after other just because CCI and BCCI get huge revenue. Who cares about players’ fitness, stamina, and rest? After all they are also human beings and not machines. First place, stop IPL ‘ghoda bazar’ and stop money grabbing ‘tycoon’ to enter who are only interested in money and don’t know basic ‘C’ of cricket. Cricket is beyond limit now. Looks like there is nothing else in India!

this is how
by OMNI on Aug 14, 2011 06:56 PM

UK has 62 million population has comeup with 11 players.
We have 1210 million population.. and we are trying to focus on 11 players and keeping all our aspirations on them... not fair... we should start making teams like counties in UK... and let them play with international players ... prove themselves ... pick the talent and put in national squad.
