Enough reasons for loss.
by anil c on Aug 04, 2011 07:05 PM

Indians are traditionally not good players on bouncy and seaming wickets.Hence they should ve played sufficient warm up matches which BCCI did not ensure. If one recollects, the 1st day of the test was under overcast conditions which helped us to skittle them out for about 200. But the next day was bright and sunny when india shud not have lost so many wickets in a heap.Batsmen like Dhoni should ve exercised some discretion regarding shot selection when new ball was taken. BCCI is to blame here too due to their adamant opposition to lbws under UDRS. Clearly umpires are more error prone than technology and more often their good decisions are only due to luck. The impact of that hatrick weighed heavily on the remaining batsmen and folded up. So what should ve been a lead of 150 got reduced to 67.Now the turn of England to enjoy bright sun and thay made hay. The pressure of a huge target demolished India as expected.

Terrible preparation and injury woes are the reasons for debacle
by sekhar sinha on Aug 04, 2011 05:57 PM

Playing just one tour game before the start of a series in England is in no way sufficient. Team India needs to decide if they really want to become a force to recon with in the main form of the game, "Test Cricket". If yes, then team should plan accordingly, A team players should get more exposure in the one day formats and seniors should focus on Tests a little more and certainly participate in Ranji and other long format tournaments in the domestic circuit. For this series in particular, the team should have been in Engaland at least 20 days in advance and play in at least three 4 day tour games with different combinations before the start of the series. The batsmen of the Team, more than us, experienced first hand the value of getting used to foreign playing conditions. The bowlers too, though brilliant at times, could place the ball at right lengths and thereby could not generate swing and seam movements for prolonged periods.

Carrying injury by players is dangerous, amply demonstrated by Khan, Bhajji and Gambhir. In fact they have let the country down.

Ultimately it is the BCCI who is to blame for such dismal show. BCCI seems to be not too keen in building a strong test team, after all there is more money to be made in the shorter frmats of the game - who cares about test supremacy!

Dhoni should be kicked out of the Test side
by Predator on Aug 04, 2011 02:30 PM  | Hide replies

His batting looks ugly as he has no solid technique to counter the ball in seaming conditions and in the 2nd test 2nd innings he did not even pick the ball due to which he was plumb in front and his field placings were bad leaking many boundaries to the 3rd man area

What was Dhoni's performance in all the tests won at home and abroad? He did it by anothers performance and his luck.
What was Sachin's performance in all the tests India won abroad? What was his 2nd innings average? How many 100's he scored against actual swing and pace attack? Gavaskar scored 13 centuries against W.I. in those actual pacers and open pitch and without guards. They did not play even 50 overs. There is no actual test players except Dravid and Laxman. Even Ganguly can perform better still now. These Mukund,Raina,Kohli,Doni are only T-20 and one day players.

not only dhoni even chief selector k.srikanth should be kicked out.
despite harbajan's poor form for the last 1-2 yrs dhoni still plays bajji in the india team. bajji is supposed to be strike bowler but he is not even bowling like a part time bowler.
Secondly K.srikant - when ever their is on opening in the middle order or opening position he picks up players only tamil nadu players like vijay, mukund, badrinath or chennai super king players like suresh raina etc.
our players are more loyal to ipl owners than ti india. even tendulkar skipped west indies tour citing fatigue he could have skipped ipl palyed in west indies and some players like shewag gambir, zaheer can play with injuries for ipl cannot play for india they even hide injuries for playing in ipl. loyal to ipl owners but not loyal to india.
Dhoni is never a great captain depsite his poor captaincy and fooolish decision like playing piyush chawla, sreesanth, nehra ahead of ashwin he managed to win the world cup
for the last 2yrs everybody knows the form of dhoni he has been riding is luck on the success for our 4 top order batsmen nothing great about is captaincy.
Finally sack dhoni and k.srikanth

Team India is only name called India but playing as a pure individual professional for their salaries regardless of their company called India. Their internal disputes is easily shown on field.

What went wrong at Trentbridge for India
by Gobind Changlani on Aug 04, 2011 01:02 PM

A lot has actually gone wrong, first of all let us all accept some facts, 1. Dhoni has been a lucky captain, not the working captain He always had some one or the other put their hands up and India could win crucial moments in the last 4 years., The luck factor had to run out at some time. 2. Our last 5 including Dhoni have not performed with the bat at all.
3. Harbhajan Singh does not deserve to be in the playing 11 for a long time now., He is a liability & excess baggage. 4. All Our Bowlers have been below Par. 5. Umpiring has been atrocious to say the least specially Mr.Erasmus
6. The Bell incident, there was no need for India to call him back, India should have seized the moment. 7. Duncan Fletcher should have never been the coach of Team India.
8. Players who should have got more chances are sitting elsewhere, like Ajinkya Rahane, and even until Sehwag was fit enough, then Wasim Jaffer should have been roped in, as he had the experience of playing in English conditions, and even Dinesh Karthik deserved better, his carrier has been shut off by 2 people, Mr.Dharmesena the umpire who ruled him out 3 consecutive bad decisions(LBW) while in Sri Lanka, and secondly by Mr.Dhoni, as Dhoni would have felt the heat with DK, by including DK, you could also get a good back up keeper & an outstanding fielder in any position.
9. Last but not the least, IPL is surely killing Indian TEST Cricket.
I hope BCCI & selectors seeing, rgds Gobind

dont have to worry abt any other reason, ITS IPL. experts hu truely love cricket said in the begining that IPL will spoil young cricketers. Earlier they had to play for test cap as that was the only option to get good money but nw almost any tom dik n harry becomes "stars" and "crorepathis" in one season of IPL. so why shud they be commited @ the international level. dhoni complaints abt fatigue bt nvr heard anything wen playing IPL, sehwag & gambhir nvr misses any IPL matches bt national matches. dravid & lakshman still plays well as they dnt have much to expect from IPL.
